Grammar, punctuation and syntax irritations
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to James's topic in The Lounge
I'm not artistic or poetic by nature so language, both written and spoken, to me is just a means of communication. As long as I'm understood I don't really care too much about not knowing the correct grammer. It doesn't seem important as long as the picture I want to convey in words manages to be understood by the person I'm talking/writing to. Bsd grammer does however give my class away and that pisses me off sometimes. Some middleclass grammer-nerds eyes glaze over when I talk as they assume, what I have to say is not worth listening to because the way I say it is not the way they do. -

"Alternatively you could be an irritating know-nothing who spends too much time posting on the forum out of your arse".. - pot and kettle spring to mind. -

So how would you know what happened to them after they were kicked out? -

So Monkey - does your inside information come from working with the agencies involved in the evictees case, or from being one of their former neigbours? -

Of course, we should have realised the council would do such a great job, cos they are so great and never react with kneejerk, heavy handed, insensitive solutions to problems facing them or their charges. -

Ahh thanks Chuff. I'm 43, nearly 44. That is starting to sound scary. I've never been daunted by the increasing years, but 44 just seems slightly scary. -
Can't think what's going on with the bed bug thing tho - yuch.

Yeh you see all the blonde kids flashing their hair all over the place. In their old school, they had to have their hair tied back. Even though my daughter always has her hair tied back in her new posh school, all the posh kids don't, and flash lice all over the place, so she has still caught them. It's gross. I tell her not to sit next to any kids who have their hair loose, especially if they start scratching their heads - I even started sending her in with a bandana on her head to deflect the bouncing parasites - but she doesn't like wearing it.

Or this gives a list of all local chemists - you could try ringing them to see which ones are open.

I'm always boring nowadays - babysitting grandchav most weekends. -
That's really nuts cos there is also a very high incidence of nits in SE22. I brought my 4 kids up in SE1 and they never got head lice. Moved upmarket to posh SE22 and my daughter has had them 3 times in a year. This place is infested!

The Blake mural has been painted over by the Council
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd still like to know who made the decision to deface* the mural in the first place. *With the big blue block of paint -

It is a really scary junction. I've nearly been run over taking my kids and the dog to the woods there. -
High praise indeed, Huggie!!

Apparently someone got off the 197 bus around 3:30pm walked in front of the bus, got hit by a passing car, flew over the bonnet and was then dragged under another car. He was taken away in an ambulance according to my source, so lets hope he is going to be ok. -
People's attitudes to illegal migrants never fails to amaze me. Over the last 500 years or so we illegally* raped and pillaged, enslaved and claimed it as empire building. We handed the responsibility of this rape and pillage to the corporations who continue to do this on our behalf, and then when the populations of the countries who have been impoverished for our benefit want to climb out of the shit we've imposed on them and follow the trail of loot to the West to work for their families - we tell them that they are illegal and bang them up in disgusting detention centres that would be closed if they were housing UK criminals. My partner's dad is British, but he's Jamaican. We had to go back to Jamaica to apply for him to get a visa to come back as my partner and dependent. I could travel to Jamaica without a visa - in fact courtesy of her maj's little red book, I can travel pretty much anywhere, but in order to visit France, America or anywhere else that takes our fancy, my partner has to apply for visas in all of those places cos he's Jamaican. Why have I got the right to travel anywhere I please and he hasn't? An accident of birth means I am a citizen of the conquerers and he is a citizen of the conquered, that's why. * Our past behaviour would be defined as international crimes and genocide under current international law

No it's dangerous for a cyclist to have to start at the same time as the other traffic. We are basically pedestrians on wheels, like skateboarders, roller skaters etc - we don't have the protection or speed other road users have so should really have proper seperated cycle lanes or shared space on pavements. To lump cyclists with buses, cars, vans etc on the roads is dangerous for cyclists.
-
I slow down at red lights but stop if cars are going the other way or people want to cross, but it is too dangerous in London as a cyclist to keep stopping and starting with the traffic. You are much more likely to get hit by a car when you are trying to get started again if they are starting up as well as your speed just can't match theirs and the cars behind don't get time to see you at the short distance they have to cover when the car in front that was blocking their view of you speeds off. The reason there are great big green boxes in front of where the cars are supposed to stop at traffic lights is not just to give us cyclists a head start, it is also so the cars can see that we are actually there.

Haha thanks MP - I am kept fairly busy by the likes of said uniformed storm troopers as it happens! It seems a bit heavy handed for illegal workers, I doubt they have Uzis and stuff secreted in their lockers. I've heard how bad they are and they are not known for their finesse, but we don't usually get to see them in action.

I bought a Kona for about ?900 15 years ago and it's only recently needed any work done to it. It is really light but Frame & wheels are still strong despite 15 years of hard cycling including off roading - so I'd recommend a Kona.

Does anyone here keep chickens?
ChavWivaLawDegree replied to ChavWivaLawDegree's topic in The Lounge
I've been asked a couple of times recently waagwan with my chickens, so thought I might as well post an update. They are doing really well. I have four chickens and they lay 4 eggs a day between them usually. I got them from a place called mumbles farm in Kent. You can call the owner Gill on 01732356746. I got them for ?10 each a couple of weeks before they are ready to start laying. The feed I get is organic and I get layers pellets and also a bag of corn for about ?10 each from Titmuss feeds. The only problem I have is that I have let them take over the whole garden and they produce copious amounts of poo! I am about to fence off the end of my garden to stop them crapping over the whole thing. Some people have problems with foxes, but I seem to be ok as I have a dog and a cat so the foxes seem to leave them alone. The other problem with chickens is that they get mites and fleas so I bought some drops to get rid of all the parasites - I know it's not organic - but it's better than finding little red mites crawling up your arm when you pick the chickens up!
