  1. I use two buses at the moment. Takes *ages*. But I may have stick with that option given the cost of the alternatives. Still, at least I get to read lots of books that way.
  2. You should take more credit, Asset, you did the lion's share of the work. All I did was to capitalise a trio of DAs. :)
  3. I really don't think I can afford to. A monthly bus pass is bad enough at close to ?60. How much is a travelcard these days - pushing the ?100-mark yet?
  4. Asset, you missed some stresses out up there. It ought to be: da DA da da DA da da DAA da DA da da DA da da DAA da DA da da DA da DA da da DA da DA da da DA da da DAA Also, the DAAs can be replaced with DA-DAs if need be. ('There was a young man from Nantucket' being a famous example.) As for whether we're talking anapests or amphibrachs, well... More info here: http://www.speedysnail.com/limericks/metre.html
  5. Ah, too many fine, fine people to mention them all. Honestly though, I feel that if I start some sort of list I'll miss someone out and, well, yunno...
  6. Any more thoughts on the Old St question?
  7. David, ED to Waterloo is easy: 176 all the way! I've asked whether there are showers in the new building - still waiting for the answer. And secure storage for bikes too. If both boxes are ticked then I'll be very tempted to go for that option.
  8. Sounds like a great time - congrats again to you both. And Mockers, old chap, so glad you caught the bouquet! ;)
  9. Have just been told this morning that my work will be relocating to Old St in 5 weeks' time. I'm just off Gray's Inn Road at the moment, and that already feels like a trek from ED - the bus journey this morning took a little over 1.5 hours. Is there anyone else who does this journey? I'd rather avoid the train if possible, as it'd eat up too much of my tiny publishing salary. Perhaps the time has come to get a bike, or perhaps a scooter.

    Quiet room...

*appears from a single point in time-space with a thrrrrrp sound* *thinks: oops - seem to have got that wrong. mind you, it has been a while...* *raises a beer in brief moment before returning to work (been doing too much of that lately - the work, not the beer - and smiles a 'looking forward to the CPT quiz' kind of smile* *is pulled kicking and screaming back into the single point in time-space with a gaaaaaaaah! noooooooo! as work's gravitational field reasserts itself*
  11. I'm definitely coming along - room for one more on the team?
  12. I'll be keeping an eye out then. Mrs Ant and I would still be very interested to have a look around.
  13. Time for a new on? There was a young woman in crocs
  14. OK - have drunk almost the whole bottle now (with help from Mrs Ant, I must stress) - and... well, it's nice enough but I'm not all that enthused. Certainly not as much as I was with the Saint Veran last week. Although I ought to point out here that I have terrible hayfever, and was eating cheese with the wine. Perhaps it didn't have that much of a chance.
  15. OK, here are the tasting notes. Make of them what you will. There are really two types of Chinon in the world - the fuller style from the limestone slopes of this appellation and the lighter, scented style from vineyards on sand and gravel. This lovely wine is very much the latter, which means is it juicy, silky and easy to drink right now and can even be popped on ice or into the fridge for 10-20 minutes before you do so. Jacques, Bertrand and Arnaud Couly run this family Domaine, established in 1921 and now considered to be the leading producer in the appellation. They used to buy in some grapes but now only make wines from what they grow themselves on their 90 hectares. Unpretentious but by no means simplistic, this wine is a juicy delight to drink. Good with: a red which will go with fish as well as cold meats and small game birds.
  16. Is there any such thing as 100% English anyway? Somehow I doubt it.
  17. Do people want to see the tasting notes before or after they try the wine?

Have poked a couple of forumites. (Mrs.) Turns out it's the pokee who sees your profile. So yes, as I suspected earlier, mutual pokage is needed if you're going to see theirs. Which makes more sense that the other way round when you stop to think about it.
  19. I bet most of the stuff they collect from the blue boxes isn't properly sorted and ends up in landfill anyway. Not that they'll care what happens to the stuff as long as they meet their targets. (In a cynical mood tonight.)
  20. But me gnashers are shot

If you poke someone whose profile wouldn't normally be visible to you, you can then see their profile for 24 hours. And they can see yours too, I think. Some or all of this may depend on them poking you back; mutual pokage, if you will.

    Big Brother

I thought I'd get sucked in, but it hasn't happened yet. She was the posh one, wasn't she? The one who thought indie was new?

I think you're right Keef. I always get those two mixed up.
  24. Sunday evening suits me very well.
