  1. I should be there, but not until a little later on.

That's excellent news, well done DM! West Dulwich is a little out of the way for me, but presumably if we can get someone from the LL branch to talk to Will too then perhaps the same deal can be offered in both branches.
  3. It's a bit of a way, but I'd be interested to see it.

The legs bit is the one thing I do sort of know about: if you swirl the wine around in the glass for a bit and then stop and look at the glass above the wine you should see lines appear after a few seconds. As far as I remember, the more distinct they are and the longer they take to appear then the more booze there is in the wine.

Definitely white for me, as long as the weather hasn't reverted back to cold and wet by this evening. Does anyone else find their wine choice following the seasons somewhat? Big reds, shiraz etc, for winter; lighter red and whites for summer? (Depending on what you're eating, of course, but generally speaking...) I'm a member of the Wine Society and have had some great stuff from them, but at the same time I'm no connoisseur and have a lot to learn on the subject. G&B would be great, but DM's idea of virtual, home-based wine tastings would be a lot more convenient for me.
  6. Bonkers-something-dot-com... there was a website. something to do with bonkers... Nope, sorry. Can't remember.
  7. Mrs Ant (aka Imogen) will be running in the British Women's 5k London Run on the 1st of July to raise money for King's College Hospital. If any of you are feeling generous, please head over to http://www.justgiving.com/hettiepoppy. In fact, you may want to head over there anyway because there's a very cheesy picture of her for you all to have a good laugh at.

What a wonderful idea. Like a book club, but for booze. :)

    Quiet room...

*swings through quiet room on large crystal chandelier* *swigs from a bottle of manky, premixed bucks fizz while doing so* *chucks empty bottle into a nearby owl moments before making an exit, stage right, through the window*

    Big Brother

BarryRoad - that thing about the hairstyles made me laugh so hard I almost considered watching again. (Disclaimer: I'll try to avoid it, but I imagine I'll probably get sucked in despite my best efforts in a few weeks' time.)
  11. Usually that the thread in question has been moved to the lounge, which means we have free reign to get as chatty and off-topic as we like. Except this one appears to still be in the general ED gossip room... EDIT: beaten to it because it took time to linkify... you'd think there'd be some sort of intarnets phrase for this phenomenon.

And my work here is done... *disappears in a swirl of black cape*

    Big Brother

Watching at the moment to see who goes in, and rapidly thinking I won't be bothering again.
  14. Owls certainly do have necks. Not only that, but they contain 14 bones, which is twice the amount we have in ours. Ner.

    Quiet room...

Arf! Superpuss! *regains composure and apologises for making noise in the quiet room*
  16. Hmm.. o-kaaaaay. That's proper weird, that is. Not as sexy as being stared at by owls. But still...
  17. The long, level stare of an owl running over their bodies must send them into a frenzy. (I'll stop with the owl stuff soon. Probably.)
  18. I fancy a bit of turowlen. Much more sophisticated than turducken, don'tcherknow?

    Quiet room...

*is hit on the head by a flying pellet of recently-coughed-up indigestible mouse bits* ewww...

  21. Have just finished The Steep Approach to Garbadale, the latest by Iain Banks. Saw some reviews (after having read it) that slated it somewhat. And yes, there were a couple of clunky scenes, but I did enjoy it overall.
  22. Our was out from about 6.40am until 4.30ish. Just what you want on a cold, rainy bank holiday.
  23. Anyone ever read anything by Peter Tinniswood? I'm really enjoying that series of his that they're playing on BBC 7 at the moment - Winston, I think it's called - and I know he wrote some books, but that's all I know. Would be interested to learn more.
  24. Get back to work, you. ;)
  25. So she stopped eating cake
