  1. I think the Dulwich Hamlets one is as well - see post earlier today...
  2. Superkids does lessons for adults http://www.superkidsswimmingschool.co.uk/
  3. We live on Overhill the other side of the hill and Dawsons Height development is fine. Some music but not more than any other road I wouldn't think. Can't comment on block management but haven't seen much in the way of antisocial behaviour, and go through the estate to get to and from Goodrich each day. If looking for school, look at the distance as the crow flies from the block to the school, as the last distance offered for school places is pretty low at the moment (see threads on the family room discussion for more detail on that). Southwark will be able to give specifics but from memory it's about 500m or so - not a great distance given that it's a 3-form entry school.
  4. Still closed today
  5. I'd mention in person (when child not around) because easy to pretend note not seen! Really difficult to know what to say, but if you play "I'm sure you didn't realise" card, they kind of have to react to that in such a way that they acknowledge exactly what you're saying! good luck
  6. Sorry to be blunt, do you mean you can hear them having sex, or just the general noise that they make? If so, I'd discretely tell them - would imagine they'd be mortified rather than offended. You could say that the soundproofing between your flats isn't very good, and see if they take the hint...
  7. It's at least stopped gushing now - just a massive patched hole in the road and our water pressure is back again (on Overhill) - hope everyone else is OK.
  8. Don't worry too much about how used your daughter is to the idea of going to Sydenham - we were in a similar position a few years ago - daughter due to be going to Rye Oak until Goodrich had a bulge class. The only comment we ever get from her about this is regret that Goodrich's uniform is blue not purple like Rye Oak's is!!
  9. St Faiths centre is a nice building and can bring in catering and drinks - we had our wedding reception there and was lovely. Like a smart church hall - not sure if that's what you're after. PM me if you want more details
  10. Number 2 - our daughter is part of the 4-form entry bulge year at Goodrich. We may be biased but it doesn't seem to have had a problematic effect on the school or the kids - they don't know any different, so don't really have a comparison. Of course, others with kids in different years may say differently, but to us it's not been a problem at all...
  11. Whoops sorry - see you at 2!
  12. Just to add to the mix, the Goodrich School summer fair is tomorrow, 1-4pm. A great way to spend the afternoon meeting people from the local school and community. Particuarly good introduction to the school community if your child is starting there in September. This year we have an Alice in Wonderland theme fancy dress parade, the usual fun inflatables, lots of Arts and crafts, Live entertainment, A Summer show, great raffle prizes, food, and this year the fair ends with a spectacular balloon race.
  13. Goodrich School fair is on 1-4 and will still be plenty for them to do after 3pm...
  14. Dulwich General Gym Stars runs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at the Charter School - have a daughter there but the boys seem to do well too... Look on previous threads on here for details - sorry, can't find them at the moment.
  15. Divertimenti do cooking courses - husband did their fish one which was good but don't know about others.
  16. You'd be better posting this in the family room, and also searching there as it's been discussed on previous threads...
  17. I think the zigzags on Goodrich road were moved to Dunstans, as the gate on Goodrich Road isn't used for kids to get into/out of school any more. They've certainly been introduced on Dunstans, though tend to be ignored...
  18. Aldeburgh is pretty flat, doesn't have tonnes of museums but nice shops, restaurants etc
  19. Too right - it'll only go flat otherwise ;-)
  20. That sounds like the best plan treehugger - Pickle, hope you get a chance to do that!
  21. I thought it was brilliant - great use of a property and some really interesting ideas. Well done to all concerned
  22. James, it's a type of learning (http://www.forestschools.com/what-happens-at-a-forest-school/) - becoming more popular, but unusual to see in city schools - unsurprisingly. It's a great thing for them to offer (I know nothing about the school, just hoping to inform about this...)
  23. We bought mini packets of LoveHearts for our favours. Depends on your budget but we decided that as we weren't likely to stay in a London hotel often again, we stayed in the (?)Radisson in County Hall, overlooking the Thames and Big Ben. Figured we might as well find somewhere we could enjoy the view! Enjoy your day!
  24. Not sure if Superkids is doing half term but they are doing weeks in the summer - highly recommend them. http://www.superkidsswimmingschool.co.uk/
  25. Sounds like something a childminder might do, and could then maybe do holiday child care for your daughter?
