  1. It's a five year old graphics card based on a completely obsolete technology, hardly showing off, I'm sure however that there are plenty of people with an older PC who like a bit of gaming and could benefit from a free upgrade, pardon me for caring. I just thought that it was funny my hard drive blowing up a week after this thread, I've already stated I've lost almost nothing having regularly backed up useful data.
  2. What are the chances, my lovely PC gave up the ghost, hard drive kaput. A few photos not backed up but otherwise just annoyed at loss of slightly dodgy installation of CS3 (from previous work) and didn't back up my iTunes XML export file or artwork meaning I'll have to dig around for about 500 blimmin album covers. If anyone still has an AGP motherboard out there then my graphics card was the pinnacle of AGP gaming technology (Radeon X800 if memory serves) and are more than welcome to it, be a pity to see it go to waste.
  3. Oh that's sooooo middle class of you annaj!!
  4. Btw Keef, it was Harriet Wheeler. I wouldn't call her shivers down the spine, more like your favourite pair of slippers.
  5. Big happy bithday to you Keef!! Hope the heads ok today. Likewise Mrs Bob!!
  6. Spend a little time on the tutorial until you're happy. Also play about with the different plane control configurations and I find the external view on plane and tank much easier. And I meant the game se?or onion, I'm well aware that it's time rather than skill that's pit me ahead.
  7. Good call Andystar.
  8. We discussed this on another thread. It's in the terms of service you agree to whe you create an account. If like me you think it's a poor show then just don't upload any photos, I certainly don't. But no point getting uppity about it if you put the little tick in the 'i agree' box ;)
  9. It's great fun in a quick fix sort of way. I noticed last night in the pub, that though I was talking to my friends j was actually calculating rifle grenade trajectories over the maudsley. I probably need help, plus floating onion is better at it than me, grrrrr
  10. Celebrity pure and simple. Cantona put his studs in a mans face and got community service. Mindyou I'm all for lessening the burden on the secure estate!!
  11. Lol, liking your style windom! HoFD was beUtiful but pointless and really rather dull. Give me monkey any day!!
  12. "should Gerrard have waited for the DJ to react by clobbering him?" I'll turn that around, should Gerrard have punched a bloke just trying to make a living?
  13. Sorry he said himself that he couldn't understand why the DJ had an issue with him playing his own music. Man needs a reality check and a quick spell in sing sing would have done. I bet you he says "do you know who I am?" a lot. Twunt!! Gerrard, not you Matt!!
  14. Loving current issue of New Scientist. Willing to think that 'Falling out of love with Market Myths' and 'Are you a Believer' about climate change denial and subjective dissonance even among 'beleievers' won't be bedtime Reading for our own dear (and respected) Marmora* Man. *yaaaayyy iPhone no longer insists on marmots
  15. Weirdly, thinking about it, it's only female vocalists that do the shiver thing that Citizen describes. My favourite song writers are generally men, but for that literally go weak at the knees effect it had to be female. And yes, Neko Case is definitely in that category. I was going to say Jenny Lewis too but I don't think she's actually that good, I just fancy her that much!!
  16. Oh it's pronouncable all right, just you'd never guess from the spelling. and 10/10 btw ;)
  17. Totally with you James. That was unacceptable to borrown parlance form the photographer thread, if you'd like it removed do please report it.
  18. French cinema like everything goes dromthe sublime to the ridiculous. La haine to les idiotes. I'll chuck Pretty Village Pretty Flame and Lovers in the Arctic Circle for a couple of foreign type recommendations. I think Ong Bak has been mentioned before but it's to date the only martial arts film the missus enjoyed.
  19. I was just about to say 'i bet sean will do that crazy Irishman with the unspellable name' when up he posted. On the flip side I give sean one guess what my next nomination is.
  20. Seriously, martin chris?!?! Surely there are about a trillion more inspiring vocalists before getting there. I mean I like Dont Panic, it's a good song, but .... I'll add Elisabeth Fraser and Kurt Wagner in a random fashion
  21. Gosh you three love your cinema, it's almost like there should be a night dedicated to film in the vicinity, who could organise such a thing?
  22. I should point out that's Martin Parr's photo, not mine.
  23. Ironically then, despite the proliferation of digital cameras, it would seem then that this era wont be much documented photographically. The likes of Martin Parr would simply be hounded out of doing what he does best, documentary photography of the way we are/were. For instance look at this, actual skin on show, quick arrest him. (click through to the 'genius of photography' article; note the use of the word photography rather than paedophilia) As a hobbyist photographer myself I understand that other people's sensibilities need to be taken into account, I'll hand out a moo card with my details once I've taken a shot, I'd wouldn't take a photo of a child surreptitously but I think there is a place for photos street photography that may contain children, and if someone takes umbrage (by the way noone ever actually has) I'll delete the photo. I do find the tenor of the less reasonable posts on this thread is utterly depressing, sorry, unnacceptable ;)
  24. Ooh, thanks v much muley and in fact everyone for your best wishes, genuinely appreciated. Right back to the clouds...
