Lol mm. I think re sears that he's still very young and being given a chance to get good first team experience, Zola has previously stated that he is impressed by the lad. RD, difficult to say, sort of chicken and egg, but success and resources haven't stopped a lot of man u academy talent from filtering through to the highest levels at their own club, fletcher and the lanky Irish fella (name genuinely escapes me) being but the latest examples.
-
The youth program is self evidently successful bit I wouldn't say uniquely. West hams academy can arguably be deemed every bit as good, we just don't have the resources to hold on to those players or have the chance to offer them champions league football.

Oh yes. Oh well, so much for the mystery. That's my short cut to Victoria, didn't even recognise it!! View Larger Map Cheers anyhoo

There is a certain implication in the use of quotes however that they're his words, not necessarily reflecting reality. I have to say, love em or loathe em, a top club they most certainly are.

seriously Matthew, inverted commas?!

I dunno, anarchism is quite a seductive idea; it's people that make it fail hence why I think anarcho-syndicalism is basically unworkable. Too many PROSouthwarks around for any chance of success sadly. On your earlier point we're not a million miles away, I guess it very much depends on the definitions of the word 'small'.

Happy Birthday Rosie, you too *Bob*

What is wrong with this forum? (non ED issues being moved to Lounge)
mockney piers replied to Josh's topic in The Lounge
In a vain (possibly useless rather than self centred) attempt to diffuse this, the terms of this forum are clear. Main room for definitively east dulwich issues. The lounge for other issues. That it, there is no onus or implication of frivolity in it being the lounge, it just means its a topic for discussion that is not east dulwich specific. -
Can anyone work put what on earth the photo visible from the bar, on the wall near the girls loos is actually of? I've spent years assuming it's of the area, but finally examining it, neither me nor anyone else can work put where the blimmin ell it is. I recon this should become a local challenge like that golden rabbit thing in he early eighties; no asking Ray!!

Not very many people really bother to get their head around it. I had a colleague who was an expert and I never had the foggiest idea what he was bleating on about. It all boils down to there being a lot more letters out there than we might care about on this forum, but that an Arabic, Chinese, Urdu, or wingding speaking website will care about, and because programmers are lazy sods all these different alphabets are encoded using the same numbers, so applications, including browsers need to know which little squiggles to draw on your screen. Your computer or phone and your browser and the original author may all have had different ideas about which squiggle was intended, copied & pasted or used. Then it all gets complicated and weird squares and unexpected squiggled turn up. All very boring I grant you, but just thought you might like to know.
-
You can change the default encoding on your browser. Flick through a few of them until everything renders correctly. UTF8 is usually fine.

Youll get no argument from me as to whether Spain is shonky, nepotistic and corrupt believe me. I remember the ayuntamiento (think glc) bought the training ground at an inflated price that happened to match Real's debts about 10 years ago. I just don't see that there would be sums anything like these going from public funds to buy players, the government, local or national would quite simply be lynched right now as The bottom falls out of Spains property Market and unemployment is creeping back to the bad old days levels

Like Roman, P?rez can tighten the purse strings or loosen them. There will be an awful lot of political wranglings going on in that club, but f you think they're getting money from the government when Spain is suffering a worse recessio nthan here to go spending millions on players then something is rotten in the state of your cloud cuckoo land, seriously.
-
I'm really no Real Fan, much rather watch Atl?tico, but don't know why you're all so mystified by their money. P?rez has a good couple of billion dollars personal fortune and presided over the previous Galacticos era, so why the mystery. Plus I suspect it's the ayuntamiento de Madrid that bails them out when times are hard via some dodgy training ground land deal, rather than the national government.

It's actually a series of lectures on a bunch of paintings but point taken. Battery is ok. For normal phone use or as an iPod. Anything that uses 3G functionality can sap t surprisingly quickly though I gather the latest phone is better at this. Phone I find patchy at best, it complains about coverage slot whereas my previous ericsson on O2 had excellent coverage, so the missus seems to find herself ging to voicemail quite a bit. Mind you my office is a dodgy signal hole. On balance I would recommend it though, it's even helping me get past my diary dislexia which family and friends definitely appreciate

I'd suggest that small government and strong defence are mutually incompatible. Rome's vast increase in beauracracy came about as a reslt of a shift from a campaign recruited army led by a political elite tier t a huge proffessional standing army of it's imperial era, it's thought that the latter history of the western empire that the army alone accounted for a quarter of the resources of the entire western empire. I believe Heather asserts that wth the loss of income from north Africa going to the vandals Rome was simply unable to pay for it's huge military commitments and effectvely disintegrated as a political entity through sheer bankruptcy. Bobbit makes a pretty convincing argument that the state nation as he calls it came about through exactly the same need, a sophisticated and expensive beauracracy required to maintain an expensive modern era (read post 1792) army. I think he even went as fr as to suggest that the welfare state was there to ensure that the nation is healthy enough to provide an army for total war, as a result f WWI. I think that'd pushing it a bit far, plus that's what the cubs is for ;)

Thirded. Another potential recruit for the drawng room, if I ever manage to persuade Admin to set it up :-/

The US has spent much of the post war period throwing it's orb about lets face it, I don't thunk it a coincidence that they didn't sign up to the ICC, and I would he delighted to see Bush and Blair end up in a dock in the Hague. I think there's a pretty strong case frankly, but I don't see the political will so it won't ever happen sadly. If it did it would set a marvellous precedent that might doesn't make right a d might encourage a tad more circumspection in future leaders prone to military adventurism. Mind you, that Spamish judge, he doesn't mind ruffling feathers, like oni wan kenobi, he's my o ly hope ;)

Thoroughly agree too. That is petty and officious. I understand controlled areas where persistent abuse has blighted areas, think Bournemouth. But even with these it'd be nice to see common sense applied. I think this is a general trend during this decade plus under this awful administration. The whole concept of responsibilty seems to have been eroded to be replaced by rules and regulations and checklists and targets and I could go on. I found your tale a bit depressing to be honest.

Love art, by the national gallery is a nice free app. Zen bound is a fantastic game of wrapping wooden toys up in string. Seriously it's good honest. I generally just use the national rail website, and watch a lot of iPlayer on this too. So true Brendan ;)

Ah yes, pre-empted my query. It will b very interested, sad that anything sensitive will probably he done behind closed doors. As long as it scupper any chance of tony becoming euro president (assuming the Irish don't do that) I'll be happy.

if you hold down a letter you get the nice foreign letters ?muy ut?l!

Lol, very true moos!! No problem with hot battery but I'm generally appalled by the battery life in general. Other downside is that it's pretty patchy at all that phone call malarkey. Other than that it's a pretty wonderful tool. First truly good intrrfac I've ever used in more than thirty geekness filled years

I suppose somebody had to start this. A place for us saddoes wh have succumbed to the lure of the pretty touch screen. Killer apps, flight control leagues, top tips, this is the place for it all. My two tips are, when typing a quick shame of the phone brings up the undo option with another shake doing redo. Tip 2, hold off and tap, well, the other button to take a screenshot that is saved in your photos. God I'm sad.

cheers for that Santerme. I appreciate your honesty. I can't say I was convinced by the case that was made preinvasion but luckily I had the luxury of not being involved. I've no idea to what extent the army, tool though it may be, can tell a government to bugger off if the request is illegal, but I seem to recall that there was concern in the upper echelons of the military and Goldsmith's last minte Yes was key in getting the whole endeavour done. Any inside info on that, OS Act notwithstanding ;)
