Oi!!! And silly money, I'd boycott my club for such frivolity in the face of global downturn when the fans are the ones suffering. Luckily my club is near bankruptcy so no worries there then.

phew, that'll teach me for not checking out the main section very often due to lack of entertainment. Whew, an attack of the food bloggers almost makes all our gastros are belong to them until their spiteful ways were rumbled! And an almost serious Bob defends the honour of the forum...cooool. Anyhoo, fair play to mr Palmerston, I thought a fair response. For my part I used to have a few issues with the Palmerston, and having been encouraged to go there by a friend I gave it another go. I found it a nice place, good service, great starter, my main was somewhat too rich and I found the whole thing shebang rather pricey. Given the choice of treating myself I'd find it hard to go there instead of Franklins, or go into town and spend a couple more quid for something like Scott's, Bentley's, Roka or somesuch, but that's just me, I don't begrudge it any success and I do think it's contributed to the lane's reputation.

whoops, iphone screen so mall and fiddly, ooh look, it's mrs slocombe, the mere sight of her pussy...

I recall Alan Hansen saying they won the league on season with a squad of 16. I can't see Europe having a say on squad sizes, just who can or can't be in them. I tend to agree it can only be a good thing but at the very least it must be UEFA wide. I suppose the main fear is that it will cause homegrown talent to have even less opportunity in the bigger teams than they do now. Restricting ratio of imports would be desirable but I suspect unenforceable employmentwise

Babybsteps SP, babysteps. I said matthew managed it, I didn't say consistently. Every journey of a thousand miles...etc

Keep it going SP. I appreciate your efforts. Even matthew managed to post without man u digs, we're gettiing there, perseverance people! Mind you news is a bit slow on the cootie front. Any inside knowledge on developments at Chamion Hill anyone?

He loves the first (modern era) prince of Persia, super mario galaxy did ok, as did braid and COD4 wasn't far off a big thumbs up. Anything else can more r less be summer up as scathing contempt. Mind you I think he's basically spot on roughly 100% of the time!

If *bob* says it's true then it will come to pass, he's like a modern day Cassandra who cried wolf too often, but was ignored because he always followed his pronouncements of doom with a joke about mrs sloacombe's pussy!
-
Genius. Was he bored this week perchce?

Thanksmagain everyone, it's given me a lovely warm feeling inside (though not as warm as when I was on the sun) *damn you iphone what I wouldn't give for a normal keyboard again*

They're protesting in their own country, and as head of the commonwealth the up does have a sway. Or should the protest, like the conflict be solved by, as sherwock implies, sending them back to tip nadu (where they apparently come from)
-
Ha ha, may indulge. Thanks again to all, turned a gloomy work-leaden day into a special one. Y muchisimas gracias granlobomalo, que le aproveche una ca?a tambien. ?Salud, pesetas y mierda para la derecha!

Aww thanks people, and err, happy birthday again bob. I think, as a tiptop forumite recommended, a pint on the sun is now in order.

Need = Keef on damn* iPhone autocorrect *actually bloody useful 99% of the time

Oops, missed a whole page of 'banter' there. As it goes flags of you're favourite players isn't that new. Many am Israeli flag at the Boleyn over the years (or west ham flags at Israeli games as it goes). I can't believe there wouldn't be the odd French flag at highbury/emirates given that arsenal have the lowest count of British players on the pitch of amy team

Besides we weren't at war if you recall we were just in conflict. Argentina is easily among my favourite countries in the world, wonderful, friendly, articulate educated and beautiful people. My brother who lived out there summed them up as Italians who speak Spanish and want to be English. Pretty much spot on, and malvinas or football rivalry apart they still really like and admire this country, even occasionally our footballers.

I was being slightly facaetious bizzy, I knew exactly what youvqerw getting at, I was just trying to point out that there are several thousand strands of what constitues true Christianity out there, many of them well established, many with millions of followers so I'm going take with a pinch of salt anyone who can say what is or isn't true chrustian teaching. But I agree with your sentiment and understand where you were coming from. Ps sorry about iphone typos I would disagree that it's up to historians to define it. Not their poblem, their lot is to study the impacts and consequences ofbthe various factions and personalities who do proclaim the truth. Some have huge impacts not in the least a couple of chaps called Jesus and mohammed!!

I work literally just round the corner, and if ever I've caught myself getting annoyed at the bus being delayed I just bees to see the hunger striker, look at the anxiety in the faces of the protesters whose loved ones have been shelled, shot at or displaced into internment camps and think what apathetic selfish twonk I've just been. If the governmet want to move them on how about pressuring the Sri Lankan government not to indiscriminately shell civilians. How about a word in the UN to get them to move towards a just deal forbthebtamils in what is effectively an apartheid state. More power to them. Inclined to agree with you Keed but whybshouksntbthey highlight their plight?

I hope your Tongue is firmly in cheek KK!!!

Bad genes or original sin? ;-p

Fair points though if I was being picky I'd say that the renaissance was an evolutionary process from the 13th century onwards entirely driven from within the church (cos that's where the clever people were) and were it not for the supression by the ecclesiastical authorities (they damn near killed francis of assissi for goodness sake) the 15th century flourishing of culture and learning may have blossomed much earlier. And isn't point three a bit like saying democracy gave us the bloodthirsty suppressions of Algerian and Vietnamese self determination? I'd say the philosophies of Stalin Hitler and pol pot were much more deeply rooted in religious eschatology than they were the result of a secular rationalism. But I get where you're coming from.
-
Easy enough assertion to make in the light of this incident bizzy. But who gets to decide who and what is a true Christian. The top minds if Europe have been fathoming that out for the best part of fifteen hundred years until the renaissance/refrmation prised the churchs grip off all intellectual activity, and allowed us to ponder something slightly more useful. And what did they give us? Holy wars (with full theological backing), indulgences, the inquisition...nice. Then the reformers going back to bailsics gave us the godly, witch hunters, anabaptists spurning progress, fundamentalism, revolutionary preachers and catholic lynchings! Seems to me anyone professing true faith in history has been trouble, what are you proposing? ;)

I dunno, this thread fiiiiiinally gets back on an eve keel, I even hide a couple if posts specifically and maliciously aimed at trying to get a rise out of you, and this is how you repay me Atila ;)

Pro life is a by product of American politics. Negative language generally plays very badly in opinion forming, it plays against the mythology of the American dream and of indi individualism and so-called small government. Therfore lobby groups and policies must be for something, hence they are not anti abortion they are pro life. The fact that a huge chunk of the pro lifers are pro death penalty is lost irony. Mind you I know catholic liberal Americans who are a bit torn, inclined towards a wokans right to choose but against abortion. It was things like this that made bush leverage abortion and stem cell research to squeeze a few more votes and divide the opposition. Thankfully fucking up the entire country, stretching the army to breaking poi t and squandering all goodwill across the rest of the world helped to consolidate the opposition vote pro life of not.
