  1. i like it for breakfast - but made the mistake of going there for sunday lunch and it was FULL of children running around banging into our table without their parents, or the staff giving a damm. when we very politely complained, the father of the devil children threatened to "knock us into tomorrow" and said we shouldn't go out on sundays if we don;t like children. i don't mind children, but i get a bit put out when they jump up and down while holding onto the back of my chair while i;m trying to eat my sunday roast... would say the clientele there leave something to be desired.... :X

i still wouldn;t go in the fht - scares me . omrith is great though, but does need more customers to prevent the friendly waiter talking to you ALL the way through your meal.

my boyfriend thought it was the funniest thing ever :-$
  7. also i did nearly get the aforementioned blind colleague hit by a bus once, so i am a bit paranoid. i would find it very difficult to walk across the sainsburys carpark escorting someone. my colleague is totally independent and proudly so - he frequently kicks up a fuss when put on the "disabled people's vehicle" as he comes off a plane (which is outrageous!) so i do take keef's point. will ask him his thoughts on this discussion next time i see him.
  8. well i take your point then, not having anything like your experience. maybe you are right. i am probably guilty of over worrying since even my pregnant friends have a problem walking around without me constantly checking for things they might bump into and hurt themselves! interesting discussion tho. i agree the current situation is a disgrace. but i wouldn;t park in a disabled space. catholic guilt!

Review of Le Moulin - as promised - and BIG confession......! I went to Le Moulin at the end of last week, to see if i liked it more the second time around. As we pitched up merrily along Lordship Lane - horror of horrors , I realised the restaurant that I had thought was Le Moulin was actually....Le Chardon....!! So, by now of course I was completely guiltstruck, we wandered the length and breadth of Lordship Lane looking for aforementioned restaurant. Found it tucked away down the other end of Lordship Lane (the clues were there in this thread - next to the Plough!). Went in, to a candle lit table and warm welcome (now almost beside myself with guilt). We had the most delicious meal, with charming service. It's a fantastic gem of a restaurant, and I must apologise for getting my facts so spectacularly wrong.... the only saving grace is that now i have found a lovely french restaurant in the area, without any of the pretensions of the others. thought i should update this thread because if you google "Le Moulin", this comes up, and I wouldn;t want to put off prospective customers i;ll pm this to louisa as well! .....i;ll get my coat....
  10. hmm well i have to say i only escort a blind colleague (at work) quite rarely and i am monstrously bad at it so maybe its just me. but i don;t have any problem in parking further away to ensure that places are free closer to shops. and my grandmother had terrible arthritis and in her later years wouldn;t have stood a chance of walking around a corner, or across a carpark. i guess it depends on the person, on how fit they are generally aside from their disability, (or how confident they are), but there are plenty of people out there who wouldn;t be able to get out unless these disabled places were available so it's a no brainer really.
  11. also in response to keef - i don;t know if you;ve ever walked with a blind person, but it's not always easy - and i for one would much prefer to park right up to the entrance to a shop than have to navigate roads or a busy car park....
  12. plus we need more disabled places because non disabled people frequently park in them meaning there are less for those people who really need them.
  13. i think i am paying about ?36 a month combined admittedly in debit balance - for a 1 bed flat - so your bill sounds quite high! i use powergen who seem ok and i got through uswitch about a year ago so there may be cheaper deals out there now.
  14. Same thing happens down my road - rubbish everywhere after they've been - they obviously just can't be bothered. I'm a bit confused about this fine thing - in my flats we all share the same wheelie bins - so how do they know who's recycled and not recycled?! or are we supposed to democratically split the fine?

Ok let's not go back over all this again folks. I suggest that rather Louisa go in and upset herself and probably the owners (who by all accounts, are decent people), I go back in there and if everything is as good as everyone says it is (and the food WAS good when I went), I will let bygones be bygones and post a message to that effect. OK?:)) Next time I'll post about a missing cat, or something....

i am in fact a newcomer to this site so have no idea what has been said before (hence the 2 year delay in posting about my bad experience!). i think it's all become clear though - i wasn't a regular customer so it didn;t matter where they stuck me. charming.

Just correcting spelling mistakes - what you think i wrote I'M LYING on it and then thought better of it?! i'm not really bothered who believes me. i am just glad i have done my public duty by reporting my experience of that place as part of this democratic forum.

    Le Moulin

absolutely 100% true. they did give me a free glass of champagne. but only after i asked them to as i felt i should get some sort of apology. was not a nice experience. and i'm not bothered about how it looks on the outside, i'm bothered about the level of service i received on what was supposed to be a special evening out. it makes me cross every time i walk past.

    Le Moulin

i went to le moulin 2 years ago on my birthday. i had specifically gone in early and booked a nice table by the window - which was cosy and private (dinner for 2!) and told the owner it was a special occasion. When myself and my boyfriend turned up for our booking - someone else was sitting in the table. so we had to cram in between other tables without so much as an apology. food was good, but expensive, which i resent when sitting about 2 inches from other tables and having to listen to other peoples conversations - why do they cram you in like that? i wouldn;t have booked if i;d known we had to practically sit on our neighbours lap. We haven;t been back. i still remember that birthday with disappointment. Not recommended.
