  1. I normally support co-ops and was very pleased to see one when I moved nearby. However every time I go in there I get wound up by the bad service - long queues while staff stand around not doing very much at all - and completely offhand attitude to their customers. I can't even bear to buy a newspaper in there it takes so long. It's not a middle class thing - it's just a useless shop! And I think that someone who works in a British food store should know what Yorkshire puddings are.
  2. I can't bear going in the Co-Op- it's miserable and dirty and the service on the tills is unbearably slow. Once I heard a lady ask where the Yorkshire Puddings where and they took her to the "puddings" section. But i love the Turkish place - fantastic fruit and veg and the guy on the till is always so friendly and nice.
  3. I've seen the guy on Marmora Road who does it - he's not new to the road but maybe he's increased the frequency of his dog walking or something. It's the balding guy who has a terrier - I've seen his dog do it a couple of times and he hasn't cleared it up. For some reason he always does it on the kerb just where I park my car and so when I get out I step right in it, even though I know it's there :X Fraid I'm way too scared of dogs to say anything....
  4. I've been into St Christopher's with loads of nice stuff (because I had got too fat for it - so good condition!) and they were a bit funny, so now I go to another Hospice shop in west London when I drive over that way, where they are really friendly.
  5. I panic every evening when the train from London Bridge train to Honor Oak announces "Forest Hill" as the next stop. They forgot to record "Honor Oak Park" in the list of stations. Must get very confusing for everyone after Brockley, especially if you are feeling a bit dozy on the way home like me.
  6. The bathroom shop on lordship lane for giving me a free part for my kitchen tap - AND the cobblers in Forest Hill for mending my boots mended for free - you don't get friendly people like that in shops in other parts of London. I've had countless really friendly tradesmen too which was not my experience where I used to live. And the Thai Corner Cafe - not yet found a Thai anywhere to beat it. The Horniman Museum and gardens makes me happy whenever I go there. The East Dulwich Forum is just a brilliant idea and has been proven to give power to the people!

  8. Curry Sauce - now that would be a winner!
  9. Bit late responding to Dan's offer of Sardines but just wanted to throw in that I would definitely try them - I've never found decent sardines in Britain and I love them when I go to Greece. And they're super good for pregnant women :))
  10. Yes thanks for responding - it's great to see businesses taking their customer concerns seriously. We will come back soon.
  11. My doctor told me that everyone wanted to go to St Thomas's but it was really hard to get in - so that's the most popular. I've been to the early pregnancy unit at Kings though and found it excellent.
  12. I've posted on the feedback section as suggested in an earlier post and put a link to this thread.
  13. Went there yesterday - got served battered fish which was burnt to a crisp. Asked for a replacement and was told "what's wrong with that?" - so we walked out. I love this place - what's happened?!!!!! ended up in the faultless thai corner cafe - phew !
  14. Does anyone know anywhere where i can safely swim while pregnant- worried about getting kicked. Weekends probably best - was thinking if i got somewhere early then it should be quiet - but i want lane swimming?
  15. That's my problem, I just realised it was on Friday not Saturday. :(
  16. Any fireworks happening on Saturday?
  17. ooh I'm really excited now :)-D
  18. Yes that's true. Is Brockwell Park a decent display? Does it have anything else apart from fireworks - eg Donuts :))
  19. Are there any smaller displays? I used to go to Blackheath which is great, but the schlep home ruins it. I'm trying to find one I can walk to - so E Dulwich/Forest Hill Way?
  20. yep se23 starts just by that catholic school on the hill on forest hill road.
  21. That's a ridiculous distinction.
  22. anyone know anymore about anything being held at the Horniman Museum - that would be a great backdrop..
  23. that's hilarious - thank you for posting that up Admin - i'm having a terrible day at work and that has cheered me up no end!!
  24. Also check who will actually be conducting the viewings. This is where I fell down. The person who comes round to see you won't necessarily be the person selling your flat. So you'll get smooth talked and think that person is a good salesperson - and then some office junior shows round 5 people at once and doesn't do any more than open the door and let them in. This doesn't happen at DVR, however, hence the switch.
  25. I switched to DVR from Winkworth. DVR are great, very friendly and seem like normal human beings. nuff said. there's another thread somewhere where a forumite rates estate agents out of ten - was spot on.
