  1. This is probably not what you want to hear but my daughter is the same, although milk isn't an issue most times. She'll be 2 next week and still wakes around 4.30/5. We had months of endless screaming between 2-4 am from 12-20 months. And if wetook her in bed with us she'd just start giggling and playing. I posted a thread about it a few months back and there were loads of tips from other parents, maybe you want to have a look for it? i think teething may havea part to play in it.And then she just doesn't like being on her own. my husband often ends up sleeping next to her. rubbish strategy but we would do anything forsome sleep.
  2. she was born early Friday morning queenmab and we were discharged just before 5. Only spent a few hours there but the postnatal ward was a lot nicer than 2 years ago:more staff, cleaner and refurbished. Still glad to be home.
  3. Thank you all for your help. In an incredible twist of fate, baby decided to change position at the very last minute and c section was cancelled!
  4. Waiting for a c section at st Thomas tonight or tomorrow. Keen to spend as little time as possible on postnatal ward. has anyone discharged themselves early or is that a silly idea? Or been told they could go home early.3 to 4 days seems like a very long time to spend on busy ward. any tips on how to make life easier when I get home?I have 2 year old and no family to help. Is breastfeeding difficult to establish post c section?
  5. Also find it fab. lovely area. thanks.
  6. Would definitely not want my daughter at st thomas' with me. Not even sure i'd like her to visit the chaotic post natal ward unless I need to stay more than a night. Iam also not convinced a child would be allowed to stay during labour. What really worries me is everyone i speak to seems to say their second labour lasted 3 hours so that hardly gives any time to drop of toddler, which iswhy we have only looked at local options (and failed to come up with any). Night time labour is my big worry. Toddler is at nursery during the day.
  7. I would also recommend ADS - have used them a few times, including last weekend. Drivers are really really nice.
  8. Adam we,are in exactly the same boat.and friends we are close enough to ask live either too far, don't know our daughter well enough or away around my due date in 3 weeks!ill be watching this thread closely.
  9. I'd noticed that statement but it's not applied. If anything you'll find the crew will suggest that you give the baby something to drink/dummy to suck on on take off and landing to avoid the ear pain. I flew a fair bit with my daughter when she was breastfed and never encountered a problem on any airline, including EJ and Ryanair. I wouldn't worry about it.
  10. I've bought a second hand phil and teds but it doesn't have a raincover. I just can't get my head round all the P&T pushchairs and accessories. Are there differenrt raincovers for single and doubles mode? I'll need the double mode one but will that work with the cocoon? Any idea where I might pick up a cheap one? Looking on ebay at the moment. Thanks
  11. Clare I saw someone yesterday with a buggy board and double p&t so it's definitely possible.but it looked very very uncomfortable.the mum was really arching to reach the handle.guess it depends on your height and child's.this one was older than yours.probably best to try before investing if you can.
  12. i also had difficulties getting hold of them, email unanswered but called the number on website and they called me back within 24hrs. I also got the impression they weren't very professional and decided to postpone visit. They said they were looking for FT positions.
  13. Thanks Steve.is Saturday activity from 10.30?
  14. thanks for the tip.i came across their website yesterday. will definitely get in contact now. thanks
  15. I've not bought any shoes there yet but intend to once toddler sizes have come in.nice shoes in nice colours and owner is lovely.
  16. Yes I have thought about it and dreading it:it'll be a nightmare! Most of all the administrative hurdle of getting a passport for the baby, and then if I have a cs etc but its an assessment centre and they say they can't do it via video link.my first was 2 weeks late and induced so hoping this one won't come early.going on my own but have friends out there. And in a way we wouldn't be missing out on support:no family here.I know its Crazy but one in a lifetime opportunity which if I succeed would really change my kids education opportunities.obviously won't go if I have any issues like bp etc
  17. Thanks Knomester.that'd be great.
  18. definitely. Thanks for the tip!
  19. Hi I have an interview in Brussels at 38 weeks. I really don't want to miss out on the opportunity and the job wouldn't realistically start for another 6+ months so fits in well with maternity leave etc. I travelled on eurostar at 30+ weeks in my last pregnancy and found it quite uncomfortable but I have no other option. I am worried about going into labour there though and just wondered whether anyone had any experience of giving birth in Belgium. Can I just show up at any hospital/maternite or do I have to book? Any recommendations? Will my EHIC cover me? I doubt my insurance will but they are generally very cagey about rules applicable to pregnancy after 26 weeks...
  20. I know I know silly idea but too late to backtrack now. Only 1hr30mn flight but does anyone have any tips please? I've flown a lot on my own but just wonder whether there's anything i can do to make it more comfie. I suspect walking up and down the aisle is going to be the only solution...
  21. Hi I am dropping my daughter off at my parents in a couple of weeks time. She doesn't see them regularly as they live abroad but she gets on fine with them. I'm spending 6 days there settling her in and then she'll be there on her own for 10 days until her father picks her up. She's very independent but getting more anxious on the rare occasions we get a sitter or someone other than us picks her up from nursery. Is there anything I can do to help her settle? planning on taking a few favourite toys/books and will start talking to her about the trip now. Also any views on whetherskyoing is a good idea or do we risk upsetting her? Probably worrying for nothing: she'll probably fine and not us here!
  22. hi does anyone know whether the centre is open and whether they have weekend sessions? thanks
  23. Yes you're right Bellenden AliM is close. Had totally forgotten about it. Will check it out. Thanks for the tip. Also right about the Villa:2 years wait and list closed. How depressing. Also looking into contacting my councillor but can I find her contact details?No... Today has just been a bad bad day. Cora thanks for the info re Amott Rd. My daughter is only 21 months but my be worth investigating further for later. I've heard good things about it.
  24. Thanks Nicole. That's the increase I feel would be fair too, even if only on a temp basis, say of 3 months and then go to full fees to give us time to find an alternative or win the lottery! Really upset as my daughter is so well settled there and with the upheaval of a new sibbling I want her to have somewhere she can escape it all. I guess I should talk to them but I am so angry now I'll just end up crying. To top it all I have no spare time as work is manic and have an interview to prepare which involves going to Europe 38 weeks pregnant (but that's for another thread...)
