    I was going to say Bat & Ball too! I have a friend who lives near Bell End in the West Mids!::o
  4. I think I know the type you mean, there is usually a couple up under the railway bridge at East Dulwich Station, not actually stopped to read myself though.

  6. I just had a call from my friend who lives that way saying a massive HGV rolled backwards into a pedestrian, dragging her under, apparently her head went under the wheel! :'( Not sure how conclusive this is as we know how these things become chinese whispers:-S Awful if true though, it's all cloesed still apparently.
  7. Looking good so far!(tu)
  8. Apologies for the confuddlement (Oooh what a good word!) E! I don't agree with breeding animals for money, even if the dog got pregnant 'by accident' there are plenty of animal charities that will help to find suitible homes for the pups and then neuter the dog to stop it happening again, i'm really against using animals for financial gain. *Steps off of soap box;-)*
  9. Mine used to play outside when there were quite a few other local kids playing out so they could all keep an eye on eachother, very rarely now though, as numbers have dwindled for some reason, so they tend to stay in the garden. I disagree with the point about going to the park, when my chidren played out I could watch them out of the window, and hear them, if they 'walked 10 minutes to the park' I wouldn't have a clue if anything had happened to them.
  10. Our recycling boxes and bag alaways take a wonder after they are emptied, and accasionally our bin, but the latter always seems to re-appear after aq few days!
  11. God I really hope we don't get a Mark One in LL!! I love that it has so many independent shops with the odd chain and I fear it may end up like Peckham or another clone high street, just add Argos and McDonalds and we're away!:'(
  12. ::o I didn't reaslise quite how closed I live to Kazakhstan!
  13. Aww that's brilliant! I saw him in the Southwark News yesterday too - a little celeb :))
  14. Ooh I forgot to mention the kids playing in the street, that's got to be a pretty good indicator of how safe people feel!
  15. Aparently the ruins are what's left of the Villas that lined the railway and the chapel was built in the garden of one of these Villas to look like a ruin.

  17. Hi Helen, There is a local author and historian John Beasley, He has written numerous books on East Dulwich, Some of which I have! Try dropping him an email, he's a very friendly and helpful man! John.D.Beasley@peckhamsociety.org.uk
  18. Eh Eh Eh Eh Calm down calm down!! http://www.thelaughingstock.co.uk/acatalog/scouser_set.jpg
  19. PMSL I was going to blame them to but didn't want to be hunted down by the ED Scousers;-)
  20. Thanks for that all! I was reading somewhere recently about the Shelters at the green, they are putting some sort of memorial there for an entire wedding party that were killed when one of those shelters took a direct hit. Another awfully sad war story. Does anyone know if the sheters on the DKH estate were ever filled in?
  21. Then in true English fashion it snowed...
  22. I streetmapped the postcode and came up with this: "This is an out of date post code." *Does shifty eyes"
  23. This is one that always has me thinking whenever I walk down Quorn or Pytchley Roads! I heard years ago that the black metal fencing on the estate was made from recycled stretchers from one of the world wars? I know the estate was built in the 30's but not sure if the fences have been there as long as that. If you look at the shape of most of them, they do look like stretchers but it could be someones over active imagination! Anyone know if there's any truth in this one? Vicki
  24. I tend to just not answer the door, We do get the odd dishcloth seller and used to get the fish men alot but not so much recently, luckily I usually see them coming from my kitchen window and hide!;-) With the charity collections one, always check the bottom of the leaflet, if there's a charity no. they're legit, if it's a company no. chances are they're dodgy! Don't have nightmares!;-)
