  1. I don't think I've used "Wow. Just Wow." for a little while, but I did rather like it. It was shorter than writing, "I'm sorry, but you have written something that you should really be rather embarrassed about. But probably won't be."

Next thing you know the Guardian will be complaining about companies off-shoring business transactions for tax avoidance reasons. Oh, hang on...

How very dare a newspaper/magazine be politically biased. Good thing the Guardian called them out.

I thought Brown was a very good - possibly excellent - chancellor, but as PM he was a good example of the Peter Principle at work. Fine man to have in the engine room, but not as captain of the ship.
  5. Hitchin?

The rules (and what happens when you breach them) are clearly laid out in a sticky post at the top of the forum, which has been read over 35,000 times. The rules are clear, the punishment is clear. So the OP can have no complaint, really.

Not really simple at all. The Guardian does the best journalism in the UK. No contest. But, its opinion pieces are barking mad, wildly inaccurate, rather sexist and, in the case of Rotherham, it turns out heavily blinkered. The latter has possibly/maybe spread to its otherwise excellent investigative journalism. It's a all a bit of a curate's egg - parts of it are excellent. The rest smells more than a little rotten.

Are you saying that if there are people who knew what was happening and were in a position of being able to do something, but failed to act, you are saying there is no blame to laid?
  10. It's been interesting to see the Guardian squirm over the past few days. The question will be how much they suppressed in the name of not wanting to be seen as 'racist'. Curiously, the only journo at the Gruin that looks like coming out of this with any credibility is Julie sodding Bindel, who raised the issue half a decade ago.

You want to try to fathom German time descriptions. "Half-three" is 2.30.

And yet, without mentioning the name of the programme anywhere in the thread, you knew exactly what we were talking about. I think you are a Whovian in denial...

Seems too obvious. But then, Moffat's scripts can be so convoluted, maybe he thinks everyone will discount the bleeding obvious. Hope the writing improves. That verged on boring for most of the first half.

Considering most internet memes are rather short-lived, doesn't this somehow go against the whole gene analogy?
  17. Didn't Richard Dawkins coin meme? The newer 'tinternet version sprung from that.
  18. I think you should be legally allowed to taser doorstep chuggers.
  19. stress_head Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They are not asking if it is any good, they are asking > if you want to buy it. I think you are being harsh - they are asking if you like it, it fits you, you like the colour or the style - all of which they can assist you with. "Any good?" covers these quite succinctly.

Worse is that the ad seems to be heavily suggesting that Barclays is helping this little sport get off the ground, when all it did is sent up a bank account and advise them on how to set up a facebook page. Whoopie-do.

  25. Don't gatelines need staffing? Does that mean ED station will have station staff? Might involve a bit of rebuilding as well, to bring the gatelines together (so less staff needed).
