I'd swap letting Boris do the announcement in favour of a complete ban on the phrase 'this train is non-stopping at [station]'. That annoys me every time I hear it.

  6. The main one you have to worry about is the tenant just not paying rent. It takes a number of months to evict them. Make sure you get references and don't be afraid to say no to anyone if you have any concerns. There will always be another prospective tenant come along. Other than that, try this article: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-1700200/Top-tips-to-avoid-property-renting-scams.html But most tenants and most landlords play fair. But there are always bad apples.
  7. I get a feeling that this thread is not going to turn out well...
  8. Whilst I agree that the road layout changes are a pain, if someone cycles into a stationary barrier I think we can safely assume they aren't paying as much attention to the road as they should. Is anything ever a cyclist's fault?
  9. Glad you enjoyed it Damon. I was in the scene that started just after the 'The isles are full of noises' speech, but there are quite a few of us on the forum that were out there tonight. It was an amazing experience finally getting to play in front of such a huge crowd. I actually think it will be even better on TV - so much is done for the overhead cams and the cams out there on stage, as you probably saw on the screens. The hashtag is #savethesurprise and it seems to be holding up well.
  10. Announcement just made at the Oval: "Will Loz's granny please report to the England dressing room? Someone bring Loz's granny to the England dressing room." Bopara just is not a test player. Not a bad T20/ODI player, but just not a test player. His batting isn't test standard and his current test bowling average is 290.00. The third worst average ever.
  11. My long-deceased granny could out-bat Bopara at test level with a rhubarb crumble.
  12. I was under the impression that DIY gas work in your own home was not illegal, but not recommended.
  13. Ravi Bopara is all you have between Steyn, Philander and Morkel scything through your tail. I'd have more faith in my granny batting at No 6 out there, and she passed away 10 years ago.
  14. Besides, this number is from the Tax Justice Network, who are the biggest random number generator this side of the National Lottery. They are sort of the antimatter version of the Tax Payers Alliance and equally low on the trustworthy stakes. Why newspapers (and especially the Beeb, who should know better) print their tripe is beyond me.
  15. It's not been deleted, it's been moved to ED businesses, restaurants & trades

  17. I was concerned about this, but now the reason has come out it seems it was the right things to do. In fact, it casts a poor light upon the BBC and the Guardian for trying to challenge the ruling and not acting more responsibly. It's worth noting that the ban has now been lifted as the trial is over.
  18. Western Australia. But then we did have the wedding there as well!
  19. I think I saw it yesterday. It's on the road separating the Olympic Park and Westfield. Stratford tube is on the other side of Westfield - you walk through to get to the Olympic Park, which is about a five minute walk from the tube entrance. Go through the outside shopping area (called 'The Street') - staying inside is the long way. There are loads of people guiding people on The Street, so you shouldn't get lost.

Seems incredibly vague and speculative. Have you called the police to have them checked out?
  21. What is the age of your daughter? What did they say to her? And have you informed the police?
  22. Another warning... get there early. The olympic park is huge! We did a test of our opening ceremony holding area yesterday, which is near the basketball stadium. If you go via Stratford, then I estimate it is at least a 30 minute walk from the Stratford entrance to the that part of the park... and I was walking pretty quickly. Even the stadium is at least 10 mins from the gate. The only thing that is quick to get to is the aquatic centre. Basketball, hockey, cycling, BMX, etc are all a LONG walk. Plus you have to get through security. The army/navy/air force guys are pretty efficiant, but we all know the drill by now. Get a hoard of ticketholders all trying to bring liquids, etc through and you can bet there will be a bottleneck at security.
  23. Gang (bang) activity
