With a bit of punctuation... "It's amazing how much expense and disruption this passed-it spectacle has caused."

"The Federal Reserve : History of lies thievery and deceit" had some interesting takes on history... a lot based on fact, then thrown into the mix with a strange theory or two. Then all finished with a fire and brimstone pulpit lecture. Surprisingly, he missed the role of the Knights Templar in the creation of banking, which really would have given a zip to his Illuminati-type theories. His main conclusion seemed to be that the Rothschilds now owned the world though, like a lot of Americans, he kept confusing the 'world' with the 'USA'.

That's OK... I can Google. "The Creature of Jeckill Island", by G. Edward Griffin From Mr Griffin's wiki entry... Sorry, paphio - I've filed that one under 'nutjob'. So, onto "The Federal Reserve : History of lies thievery and deceit" by Dr Ken Matto. This one's a doozie. I found his home page at http://www.scionofzion.com and I think this sums him up nicely in his own words... I've filed that one under 'religious nutjob' You want to try again, paphio? Preferably some thoughts from someone who isn't foaming at the mouth?

In celebration of the poster that has regenerated more times than Doctor Who, I suggest we have a thread so we can keep track of his latest incarnation. I'm sure I'm missing loads, but so far we seem to have: Allfornun thomastillingthe3rd sagatelsagouni georgegarrett with albertcadwell being the latest. Two weeks seems to be the average shelf life of an identity before they are belted with the banhammer.

Moos, My wife did these for a dinner party once and they looked really impressive and went down a treat. If you have the Gordon Ramsay "Just Desserts" book it is in there too. They are stacks, rather than the traditional pudding. http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/gordon-ramsay/summer-pudding-with-lime-creme-fraiche-recipe

Have you ever considered auditioning for 'Grumpy Old Men'?

Bankers? Running a banking system? Whatever will these evil people do next? But the answer to your question is in the quote: "the members of the Board of Governors, including its chairman and vice-chairman, are chosen by the President and confirmed by Congress." The current chairman looks like he has similar credentials to the current Governor of the Bank of England. But apparently there have been bankers spotted in the Bank of England, too. Who'd have guessed? Those dastardly bankers doing banker things. What the hell did they do to give them the right to call themselves bankers, anyway...?

Sadly, I can't wee the Gruniad leading with that one tomorrow, GG. But it would be *very* funny. -

Not really a mea culpa. I think the campaign to strip it of all advertising was rather successful and Murdoch could see that he had a large loss-making title on his hands. Kill it off and relaunch as the Sunday Sun. Most of the journos and little guys will probably just transfer over. The ed will be paid off. -

Just saw that. Seriously brown pants time over at Murdochville. -
I reckon we start a game called '1s' and fill the whole forum. Or '2s' and annoy every OP. :))

pashio, As far as I understand it is down to general technological thickness by the people 'hacked'. Phones generally come with a default voicemail PIN. People don't bother changing it. The bad people then rang the mobile, went through to voicemail and then typed in the PIN. It wasn't rocket science. Hacking is sort of the wrong word, really. -

SJ & DC: I agree entirely that NOTW and NI should be ripped to shreds for this and that BSkyB deal cannot go through before a public enquiry. The police's role in this - especially in the cover-up a couple of years ago - has to be investigated deeply. Nothing short of a full public enquiry will suffice. Cameron, I think, is guilty of really, really poor judgement. He may or may not survive that. I suspect he will - he is distant enough, unless more Coulson revelations come out (and Rushbringer has already said he warned Cameron personally about Coulson). But, illegal is illegal, no matter how many times you have 'indulged'. If other papers are involved (and lets face it, if the Sun isn't involved I'll be very surprised) then they too should feel the full weight of the law. If Rushbringer doesn't answer the question, others will ask it again. And again. And again. I reckon the Times will be first off the block. -

The Guardian editor, Alan Rushbringer, is doing a web Q&A at the moment. The first question asked was "Can you confirm that the Guardian has never been involved in these kind of practices and are you reviewing previous stories obtained via another source to check if anything untoward took place?" It's an hour in and he's not yet answered it directly. Hmmmm. -

Maybe, but TT3 was completely hatstand.

Councils cannot just ignore the law - applying for 'special permission' doesn't exist. Planning don't have the power to disregard the law. The law says: If a box junction is not at a junction of two or more roads then it is not legally enforceable and you should appeal. Then contact the papers - the Evening Standard loves this stuff.
