  1. Sportsmanship would have been better served by India offering to recall Bell, but England gracefully declining. This could open up a real can of worms. Imagine, say, Harbijan Singh's LBW (off Broad during his hat trick) had been the last ball before tea. It would have been obvious on the replays in the dressing room that Harbie got a big inside edge - should he be recalled? A lot of recall incidents have been revisited since the Bell incident, but this is the only one where I would have recalled the batsman. Running out a batsman when he's been (unintentionally) knocked down really wasn't on.

    Safety for some,

How it illegal to use a mobile phone while driving, but not illegal to have a burning stick of tobacco in your hand??
  4. If you wish to eat fois gras, but are worried about your principles, try this handy get out clause: 1) By the time you arrived in the restaurant, the animal is dead and the liver removed and prepared 2) If you don't eat it, it'll only get thrown away. And that would be a terrible waste. I only read the Guardian because I disagree with most of it, anyway.
  5. Bell was stupid and was out. It was interesting that all the past English captains on Sky pretty much agreed they'd have taken the wicket. Only Bumble was wittering on about the spirit of the game. India now lack the cojones that got them to the top of the table.
  6. Well humans seem to like being overfed. http://www.dimensionsmagazine.com/dimtext/kjn/people/syager.jpg Why shouldn't geese?
  7. It gets transferred to your laptop. Or goes lap dancing. (Now if only it had a club to go to.)

The song? Asera-hey-ha-the-hey-to-the-hebe? Terrible version of Rappers Delight? Or best version?

The Oddbins, I believe has gone t*ts-up like the rest of the chain, but will soon be re-opening as an independent. The Majestic is really quite good - the staff there are knowledgeable and friendly. And have too much of my money.

  11. Health-wise: Wild Salmon. Farmed salmon has quite a few issues regarding fish health. Environmental wise... a bit of a conundrum. Wild stocks can obviously only handle so much fishing, but farming's impact on the environment can be pretty big itself.

  13. Afraid so.

  15. Doubtful on the 'foreign' bit, especially European. Euro lane discipline is pretty good. I think they should change the law so that it is illegal to be *passed* on the undertaking side.
  16. I'm thinking more along the lines of honouring his cover. If you are going to put in a claim on someone, it's best their insurance are the one that pays out.
  17. I bet a few punters will be hoping they are crushed and devalued...
  18. I think American Werewolf in London had a better idea for a suitable costume for Jenny A.

I had an cable running out of the back of the tv and was trying to attach the other end to an indoor aerial. I put the exposed wires of the cable in my mouth to hold it... I am *never* going to do that again.
  24. I read an article once that showed how breeding patterns change in humans. Essentially, humans in third-world countries breed lots, as mortality rates are so high. Those in first world countries barely breed enough to replace the population. But, as a country moves from third to first world, breeding stays high (as that is what they are culturally used to), but mortality rates drop. This gradually changes to first-world breeding patterns over a couple of generations. The problem is this: in the transition period, the population of the country explodes. Usually, this is problematic for the country involved, but not to the greater planet. The problem now is that two of the biggest countries in the world - India and China - are just starting the transition process. China is at least trying to stem the problem early, but India's population could rise very quickly over the next 40-50 years.
