I had it for the second time earlier this year. I was still testing positive for some time after the (unpleasant) symptoms had gone. I isolated until I tested negative. I think that was longer than what is advised, but I didn't feel comfortable mixing with other people knowing that I was still positive. Unfortunately, for whatever reasons (cost of tests? Need to work? Thoughtlessness? Selfishness? Certain their symptoms can't possibly be Covid?)) I think some people with symptoms neither have a test nor isolate, which is why it is apparently still spreading so freely (judging by the number of people I know who have had it this year). I hope you feel better soon, Alice. Take good care of yourself and rest. You could ask your GP or phone 111 if you aren't sure what to do or when to stop isolating? I think 111 still have a dedicated Covid helpline, judging by the first recorded message you get when you phone them (you dial 1 for Covid advice, I think).

Ok, thanks! The 'contact us" link is a bit lost beneath a load of other stuff, but also thanks for pointing it out! The picture you've shown isn't what I see when I post, btw - I almost always use the app on my mobile.

Complain to your councillor and copy to Helen Hayes (or whoever your MP is), and the local paper. The last two won't be able to do anything I imagine, but it might make the councillor put pressure on. What a farce. What's the point of having a noise control department if they don't actually do anything to control noise?
-
As suggested above, keep a record of the noise, with dates and times, if you aren't already, to show to the noise team when/if they turn up. See if you can record it from your house, eg on an app on your mobile (eg Dolby) Ask your neighbours if it is causing them problems as well, and if so ask them to keep records as well, and coordinate calls to Southwark when it is actually happening. Surely you must have some idea of where it's coming from? If you can bear to, if it's still going on in the early hours, couldn't you walk around and pinpoint the house? There can't be much other noise at that time of day? Good luck!

Chern Thai Cafe On Grove Vale - Revised Opening Hours
Sue replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We had a lovely friendly wave from her when we passed by the other day! Looking forward to the opening! -
The private message box underneath his post above might give a clue..... 😀

I had the assessment phone call today. It was bang on time, the person was very friendly, I was told I was eligible for the CT scan, and I got an appointment next Wednesday 😮 So it just seems to be the first part of the process which is really inefficient, unless it has improved since I started the thread.

What's the best utility provider in the area?
Sue replied to lexibean33's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Octopus is good, in my experience . Welcome to East Dulwich, btw! -
Well, given that their whole IT system went down for ?weeks? not so long ago, I can't help but feel that any temporary delays due to installing a new system are preferable to that happening again .... If what I was told then is right, nobody could access patients' information or medical records, and nobody knew who had an appointment when, or who it was with, or what it was for. I think test results weren't available either, though I may be wrong. It was chaos. I was just thankful my appointment was for something relatively minor, though I was taken aback to be asked why I was there ....

Any effective way of making late postal delivery complaints?
Sue replied to Jacqui5254's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There are issues where a few stamps are just not enough. And Royal Mail needs to get its act together to prevent needing to compensate people in the first place. The number of people who actually complain is just the tip of a very large iceberg of people in this area who have been getting appalling service ever since the delivery office was moved from Sylvester Road to Peckham. That's on top of the more general problems with delivery delays all over the country. -

Admin, are you there?!

Isn't the hospice shop on Lordship Lane taking books? I took some there today, with some other things. They sell paperback fiction for £2.50.

Community Fibre ?? anyone taken it on ??
Sue replied to bigmacca1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd be interested to know this as well, as I'm thinking of moving from Plusnet -
This is appalling behaviour by the job centre, though sadly I am not surprised. Could he not appeal? Alternatively, could his MP help? I once won an appeal against a job centre decision, so it is possible!

Whilst I agree, some places do accept a Freedom Pass as ID, so it can be confusing. But refusing to provide another form of ID when asked does seem rather counter-productive in this case, if it means you don't get your parcel 🙄

I was living on a farm, but the farmers were far too nice to do that (and far too busy!)

I once lived on Richmond Green. Walking across the Green to the station was really scary when a plane came over. But not as scary as when fighter planes came over very low and (literally) out of the blue from (I think) Wales, when I lived in rural Herefordshire and was hanging out my washing 😬

Is this the right place for what used to be "about this forum"? Hopefully! I have just posted in the Events section, including a link to our ticket site and a link to our website, and although both the links are correct when editing, neither of them are coming up as the full links on the published post, so they are either going to the wrong place or not working at all. Is this something I am doing wrong, or is it a forum glitch?

Surprised to hear this re Oxfam. Was that the actual bookshop? The small Oxfam opposite the bookshop also has a small book section, but probably can't take many. The Oxfam bookshop has seemed very pleased when I've taken shopping trolley loads of books there in the past! I think PALS at Kings stopped taking magazines and books during Covid, don't know if they have started again.

I've noticed that the noise has been particularly bad recently. The planes have seemed to be flying lower than usual.

I thought exactly the same as Malumbu when I saw the original thread title

"Crushed and devalued" springs to mind .... If there's anybody still left in East Dulwich who remembers those forum days ...
