Helen Hayes has been very proactive about the delivery issues, including coming to a (poorly attended) demonstration outside the old delivery office in Sylvester Road in a vain attempt to stop it closing. She also did all she could in other ways to stop our deliveries coming from the Peckham office, but sadly with no result. Now all the predicted chickens are coming home to roost (not sure that's quite what I mean, but you get the picture). I really hope that things will change. It does seem to me that at least part of the problem is down to poor management at Peckham, but I might be completely wrong. It can't all be due to Covid, because the deliveries went way downhill as soon as they were moved to the Peckham office, which was long before lockdown.

Thank goodness somebody is going in the "greener" eco-friendly direction! Lately it has seemed to me that all around me is becoming a sterile wasteland with no consideration for birds or insects or other wildlife whatsoever, let alone for the wellness benefits of looking at green things rather than buildings and concrete. Sorry I can't help re the application, but as regards species a mixed hedge (including flowers, berries and other seasonal interest) would be visually attractive and eco-friendly, however it does depend on where it is situated (eg hawthorn is nice, but as its name suggests, thorny! Also it might be hard to restrict it to a metre in height without constant maintenance). Do you have a photo of the existing fence and its surroundings? You have no idea why he isn't posting on here. He could be ill or in hospital, or there could be many other reasons.

Every resident of Ulverscroft Road was contacted with details of the road WhatsApp group when lockdown started, but if you have lost the details or have changed your mind about joining, I believe you can search for Ulverscroft Road on WhatsApp and ask to be added. Or of course if you have just moved to the road (welcome!) I can't remember how joining the group works now .... but it has been very useful, particularly today!

Isn't it so that people don't message them thinking the item is still available? I find it more annoying when people don't put "sold" in the subject box, and you don't find out until you've gone into the thread!

The problem is, who is going to be there to give someone a fine when the litter is dropped? Unless people know there is a reasonably high chance of being fined, they will just carry on regardless, sadly.

Whilst many tradespeople still are taking precautions (thank you Don Simpson, ace car mechanic, who went to great lengths to explain what he was doing to keep him and myself safe) a plumber who came to my house recently took no precautions whatsoever, and this is somebody who is going from house to house and working inside. At KwikFit when I collected my car (rear silencer replaced) I asked if they had worn gloves when handling the keys and they just looked at me as if I was mad. So I guess/assume they didn't when moving the seat back or steering the car either. I didn't bother asking, just took the necessary action myself.

I just keep my landline on permanent answerphone. I can hear any messages, so if it's someone I want to speak to (rare, as most people call my mobile) I can intercept them. Otherwise, they can just witter on. But I get very few spam calls.
