Help - Car keying on Stuart Road
Sue replied to Joe on Stuart Road's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Whereabouts on Stuart Road was your car parked? I'm just wondering if The Ivy House has CCTV (though I've never noticed any) -

Reviving this thread from two years back, because just in case anybody else was planning to go to St Paul's, when we got there we found a massive massive queue, which sadly none of the organisers apparently thought to count and then let the people behind the end of the count know that they wouldn't get in. Having stood in it for hours (I can't remember how many hours) we were told a) we wouldn't get in and b) people had been queuing since midday !!!!!

I advertised a load on here (free) and somebody took them.

She and local Labour party members have been canvassing in marginal London constituencies where every Labour vote is crucial to get the Tories out. Surely that is time better spent than canvassing round here which is a safe Labour seat? And even if it wasn't, I don't see how they could possibly get round every single door. Three local Labour Party members were at a stall outside the Co-op on Saturday talking to passers by about the election and the Labour Party manifesto. It was the day of the Christmas Cracker. East Dulwich was rammed. You can hardly accuse them of keeping a low profile. You say you are a paid up member of the Labour Party. I have never seen you at any local meetings or social events or volunteering to deliver leaflets or help out in other ways. Why do you belong to a party you say you are a lifelong supporter of, but you are not going to vote for it because they haven't made coming to your door the top priority of their campaign? Absolutely ridiculous. And if you hate Corbyn so much, which from previous posts of yours on here appears to be because you have been reading a load of bollocks about him, presumably in the right wing press or on right wing social media posts, why aren't you active in the Labour Party to get another leader elected? Or do you just prefer to moan on here? ETA: Apologies I see you say you are a former member. But nevertheless you say you are a lifetime supporter, so much of the above still stands.

There's a large ad about it in the latest Peckham Peculiar.

I think some people just ask ridiculous amounts in the hope that somebody will eventually pay it. In East Dulwich, some people probably will :)

Lemmy has messaged me asking me to post this on the forum as s/he is unable to post. Can anybody help? S/he has messaged Admin but hasn't had a reply. S/he is using Windows and Firefox, but is getting this message when s/he tries to post: A form was submitted in the windows-1252 encoding which cannot encode all Unicode characters, so user input may get corrupted. To avoid this problem, the page should be changed so that the form is submitted in the UTF-8 encoding either by changing the encoding of the page itself to UTF-8 or by specifying accept-charset=utf-8 on the form element. posting.php Loading failed for the with source ?[pagead2.googlesyndication.com]?. posting.php:38:1

If you Google "resize photo" there are lots of free websites where you can do this quickly and easily (you don't need an iPhone!)

Did they give up on their plans?

The Ivy House is open part of the day but I don't think is doing food. However they've got an excellent new chef, so might be worth checking just in case. The Clock House was open till at least late afternoon and was doing Christmas lunch last year. Obviously you have to book in advance.

I bring greenery (and lights) into the house to celebrate the solstice on 21 December, when the days start getting longer. Except this year I've got to do it earlier than the solstice because I've got a zillion family members coming and they will expect a tree etc :)) My tree lives on my allotment most of the year (in a pot). OK, as you were :)) -

Lidl have an ad in Saturday's Guardian advertising potted non drop trees for ?18.99. Potted is not necessarily pot grown though, and I imagine they are quite small for that price. -

Probably you can get one in a garden centre. I have one which has been growing in a pot for about four years. I can't remember where I got it. It may have been Homebase. You could phone around and ask. Shannon's in Forest Hill may sell them, or if not may know where you can get one. I think the people up on the South Circular at the entrance to the Cricket Club may do them, too (next to Cox's Walk). ETA: But mine was bigger than the one on Amazon to start with. They come in various sizes even though pot grown. Make sure it is really pot grown and not just dug up from the ground and stuck in a pot for Christmas though! If it has, its roots will probably be damaged. -
DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > With regards to the Mural I think enough has been > said. > > Not worthy of continual discussion. What do you consider "worthy of continual discussion", then, Dulwich Fox? This is a forum. People discuss things on it. Like local issues. Like this one.

You just need to > know how to handle the help lines that are mostly > just following scripts. The only way that I got a problem resolved, after months of promises from various people in various places at BT, was to go onto their Facebook page and complain there. Because it's public, they have to be seen to sort things - which they did, very promptly. I just wish I'd thought of it before. And yes of course people are more likely to complain than to praise, however it is still the case that more people appear to complain about certain companies (BT, for example) than others (Plusnet, for example).

Obviously I'm very sorry to hear this, and I really don't want to sound unsympathetic, but surely vans should be emptied of bags, tools, satnavs etc at night? That's why you often see notices on vans "no tools left in this vehicle overnight", as otherwise these (expletive deleteds) will break in on the offchance.
