I'm wondering if there could be a bug currently going around which includes vertigo. Has anybody had this? No offence, but I'm looking for personal experience, not a copy and paste of googled articles - I am all googled out :) I have had vertigo for a week so far, was in hospital a few days (not looking for sympathy, just to give background), had an MRI and a load of tests and no cause has been found yet. In case you don't know, which I didn't previously, vertigo is not just being a bit dizzy, it is being unable even to sit up because the whole world spins round and if you are unlucky you throw up. I'm on medication but it isn't completely controlling it :( Also, if anybody has had personal experience of Lyme Disease (spread by a tick bite) and in particular of vertigo possibly related to it, please could you PM me, thanks. Again, I don't want general googled articles, I've already done all that, thanks.

It is the fact that the bay was unexpectedly found not to have clay beneath it, but made ground plus silty sand, and then silty clay at three metres. The report says that their opinion is that damage has occurred due to consolidation subsidence. This has been caused by "consolidation of the weak underlying subsoil, which in turn has affected the foundations." More people are coming to look at it next week with a view to deciding what to do about it. Oh happy days.

To cheer you all up - I currently have severe (class 4) subsidence in my bay. They took soil samples and aren't even bothering monitoring it before doing whatever is necessary to sort it. Huge cracks outside and inside the house. Due to the underlying soil (bizarrely, not clay until a very long way down) and not to the street tree right outside as originally thought. :((

I have found all that palaver completely unnecessary! Plus if you freeze a whole loaf, you then have to eat the whole lot at once after defrosting. If you freeze in slices, you can defrost one or two slices at a time. But to do that you either have to first open freeze the slices, or else separate them with something like easy-leave sheets, otherwise they will all stick together.

Dry skimmed milk is sold in Tesco as well as Sainsbury's and the Co-Op. Don't know if other supermarkets also have their own branded milk. It's probably all the same as Marvel anyway, only cheaper! And yes, I buy sourdough bread and then slice (if it isn't ready sliced) and freeze it. If you open freeze it on a tray, you can then easily shove it into a bag and take out one slice at a time, or however many slices you want.

I can't advise on the specific issue, but I suggest you speak directly to an insurance broker, or possibly directly to insurance companies rather than filling in a list of questions online. Though if you get a minion who just goes through the same list of questions, that will probably be as bad as trying to do it online ........ ETA: Or whoever did your underpinning may be able to advise, or possibly put you in contact with other people who have had the same thing done for the same reason? Obviously (or at least I imagine that) the reason for the question is because insurance companies assume that any underpinning is done as a result of subsidence.
