There was a competition to name the old Uplands when it was taken over by the person who owned the Bishop, and "The Actress" won for obvious reasons 🤣 The Foresters was vile (in my opinion). I'm interested that there are still problems with the smell from the Gents, because in the Foresters days you could smell it as soon as you went in, and my memory is that it felt like you were squelching your way over the carpet, though I'm sure that can't have been true 🤣

I had to phone King's this morning. The first thing you get is a recorded message saying basically that norovirus (I can't remember the exact words) is everywhere at the moment, and please don't come to the hospital if you have symptoms. I would strongly suspect that anybody with sickness and/or diarrhoea at the moment is very much more likely to have caught norovirus or similar than to have got food poisoning from an ice cream. Like COVID, one person in the family can easily get it first, and doesn't necessarily pass it on to the others, especially if they take appropriate precautions. I am very tempted to ask if it was vegan chocolate flavoured ice-cream, but I will resist. Oh, I can't 🤣 I hope your son gets better soon

Where has Malumbu "claimed to be a local"? Are you saying anyone not "living in the area up for consultation in East Dulwich or on streets adjacent to or contiguous with the consultation area" should not post on this thread? How ridiculous. Probably most of the people using the forum, and possibly many of the people posting on this thread, don't conform to your requirements. I don't, for a start. I live on the other side of Lordship Lane to the area in question. You and a few others on here just have bees in your bonnet because someone living just outside the SE22 boundary posts on the ED Forum and makes valid points which you don't agree with. It's childish.

Eh? You think climate change doesn't exist? I expect there are many people contributing to this forum who don't live exactly within the SE22 or Southwark borough boundaries. What on earth does it matter, if they have an interest in the subject under discussion and frequently come to or through SE22 (or even if they don't)? Do you think people should be required to prove where they live before they are allowed to post on the forum? This constant griping is so tedious.

Yes, even just the thread title will stick in people's minds, with the specific cafe mentioned. And they will see it every time they look at the list of threads in this section of the forum. It might be a good idea to change it to remove the cafe name and say something like "a local cafe"?

Places selling ice cream have to conform to really strict hygiene regulations. It's highly unlikely that this café would risk their customer's health, or their reputation, by not adhering to them. As said above, there are lots of things going around at the moment.

A beer in the garden would have been nice, I'm sure! Mine was a meal inside. I don't remember much about it except that it was horrible.

I never went in The Grove when it was a pub, but I had a meal there once when it was a Harvester (I used to occasionally be a Mystery Shopper, and I was persuaded to go and have this meal because it was a bank holiday and they couldn't find anyone else to do it.) It was truly horrible. At least I got paid for eating it, albeit not very much, but I think I would have paid not to have to eat it. If it becomes an "affordable" restaurant again, I hope at least it has decent food. Why do "these youngsters" need "adult help" to be enterprising? They aren't six year olds!

Are you aware that the young people using the skate park, none of whom (to the best of my knowledge) had previously acted, put on an absolutely amazing performance of A Midsummer's Night Dream actually in and around the skate park? They all learned their words. To the best of my knowledge they all made their costumes. They all attended rehearsals. During some scenes of the play, some of them were actually on skateboards. The performance would have been a credit to professional actors. It was wonderful. There were also a group of people using a small area behind the skateboard park as an allotment. They are really keen. I have talked to them. I don't know if they are still there - it hasn't been the season or the weather for much growing lately. As for "underage drinking and drugs " - I have never seen any evidence of either on this site. Have you, or are you just making assumptions? Skateboarding is very skilled. How do you suppose somebody under the influence of alcohol or drugs could do it? The last time I passed, there was a father (I presume) in there with his son (I presume). I don't know who was teaching who, but it was really heartwarming to see.

Forgive me if I have misunderstood you, but the 47 doesn't seem to be much help as a step in the journey to get to East Dulwich from London Bridge? Also, the 484 doesn't just stop at ED station? It also stops at Goose Green and Oakhurst Grove (the Oakhurst Grove stop is near the bottom end of Crystal Palace Road). If memory serves, the 12 and the 197 also go from Peckham Rye to East Dulwich?

There are safety issues relating to that. For example, what if you were trapped inside a car for some reason eg in a ditch after an accident, and nobody could see the car or knew where you were?

Thanks. I have used the 78 on occasion, but not to get to and from London Bridge. It does indeed take quite a roundabout route. I usually use Google maps set to public transport, but I will try the TfL site as well if stuck, to see if that comes up with different options.

But there are loads of flats next to it, and loads of houses opposite it? What would you call " not many people"?

Places like the MoneySavingExpert website have been advising people to switch to a fixed rate tariff for ages, for this reason. Most of them have closed now. If you are an existing Octopus customer, I think they still have their fixed tariff option open to change to, if you aren't already on it. I took my eye off the ball so I missed what were probably better deals, but I was able to change to the Octopus one at least, as I was already with them.

I just looked this up. The 78 doesn't seem to stop anywhere very near London Bridge? Is my geography all wrong? It's also quite a long walk from Nigel Road to ED, depending on where in ED you live! I have no idea why whoever put this route online seems to think that the stations are at the Nigel Road bus stop and not the Peckham Rye Station bus stop 🤣 Does nobody at TfL (or whoever does these) not actually check them before they put them into the public domain?!

But if there is "something going around", as Azalea says, it could be complete coincidence that a dog became ill with similar symptoms after drinking water from a puddle on the Rye? I know absolutely nothing about things like this, but if there could be an issue with ground water making it toxic to animals, would that not be tested for as a matter of course? I will ask my daughter, who is a hydrogeologist!

Might Cowling & Wilcox have any relevant info which could help your case? I bought an easel there recently. Now I'm very glad we lugged it home on the bus rather than collecting it by car, particularly as the shop took some time packing it up! Hope you get things resolved. It seems an odd place to have a loading bay with those restrictions if there's nowhere immediately adjacent to it to load from?
