Just had a flyer through the door. Posting here for people who haven't had theirs yet. The 50% off food is for three days only, and advance bookings only. I liked the EDT as it used to be, so I really hope the changes won't be too massive. Last time I looked through the window the bar seemed to be still in the same place, but who knows. Think I'll wait a bit to try the food. When The Lordship launched, we went for a meal there and let's say things didn't go smoothly 😂 Anybody who was there will know what I mean 😂 They have redeemed themselves since, I hasten to add 😂

It's great that the council will do this, but it does seem a costly waste of their scarce resources, unless there are factors which I don't know about? Surely rather than dealing with a few piles of dog poo on request on an as and when basis they need to find some way of addressing the whole problem? What do other boroughs/countries do? Have things got worse since COVID, when the dog population seems to have quadrupled round here? Did some people acquire dogs without thinking through the less cuddly aspects of ownership? Could dogs be trained to use a litter tray and/or bury their own poo, like cats do? 🤣 (That was a joke, btw).

They could refund tix already bought though, couldn't they? We did this recently when we had to reschedule a gig due to the headliner's serious illness. That was a bit different because people had the option to transfer their tix to the new date when confirmed. But in theory everybody could have got a refund, though in practice only a few people took that option up.

They probably won't want to after all their sterling efforts last time ended in a rather unexpected way!

Yes, I saw it. It was in response to my post asking whether there was an update. It seems that may be the one which jb is apparently saying is "sarcastic", as I can't think of anything else If that is the case , it is quite upsetting that they should think that of me, given the very sad subject of that thread. I had already edited my previous post on here to say that, after I had had a look to see what jb could be referring to, but I don't know whether that was before or after your post above, as that is starting a new page and I've only just seen it. They both say 2 hours ago. Anyway, I'm tired of the whole thing. I don't mind being accused of things I've actually done, and if I agree I've done wrong then I will always apologise. But to be subject to a very public attack, when many people know who I am, which appears to be completely unfounded as jb despite requests has provided nothing to back up their statements, is very depressing. ETA: I know I can be outspoken, on here and in real life, but I don't think that is what I was being accused of.

Unbelievable. My laptop ran fine for a while and now it's got the blue screen of death on startup. I've just been running through all the options with Which Tech, and nothing they have tried (rollback etc etc) has sorted it. So I've got to crawl back to John Lewis and I guess it will be back to the factory reset 😭 BUT Also unbelievable. Since the BSOD I have been using my old Dell laptop, which nobody could fix either. It runs Windows 10, and had been running at watching paint dry speed, as indeed it was when I started using it again recently due to the problems with the new one. It's quite old, and it wasn't worth paying to get anything hardware related sorted given the move to Windows 11, which was why I bought a new one. BUT!!! There was a Windows 10 update recently. And since then the Dell has been running at lightning speed 😮 It probably won't now I've posted this 🤣

I am sorry to continue this, but I found your previous comment about me very personal, disturbing and upsetting, which was why I responded at length. I'm sorry it bored you. I try to stick to facts. I have investigated. You (and anyone else) can go into the "search" settings on here and do a search on an author's name. So you can (I presume) find all my posts, including any which were replying to you. I can't imagine that they are in greater numbers than my replies to anyone else, but you can see for yourself. I guess you can probably also find examples of what you call my "usual sarcasm". I wasn't aware that l had a tendency to sarcasm, though I do find a lot of things funny. There is no need to reply to this unless you actually find evidence in support of what you said. Sorry everybody else. I had to get it off my chest as I was lying awake last night worrying about it ETA: I have seen a comment on a recent post of mine on a thread of yours which could be construed as sarcastic. It was along the lines of "forgive me if I've missed it." This was a genuine comment as I thought there might have been more than one thread on the same subject. I had been at the bus stop by the dry cleaners, it reminded me of the discussion on this forum, and I wondered what the family had decided to do with the money raised. So I searched for the thread but couldn't see any update, which was why I posted. There was no intention whatsoever to be sarcastic. Why on earth would I do that on a thread relating to someone's horrific death and your kind money raising efforts? I really can't think of anything else I have posted on here which you could have meant. 😭

Sadly I think, apart from more dog poo bins, the only things that would deter these selfish people from not cleaning up after their dogs is more CCTV and very large fines. But that is not going to happen, is it? Too expensive to run, and problems with identifying the owners/dog walkers concerned. Didn't there used to be (grammar) dog licenses? Why were they stopped? Maybe people should have to pass a dog owning test, a bit like taking a driving test.

It does sound like that on the face of it, but it may depend on the upper age of the children who are going to the sessions? Does the cinema actually specify anything re age? I know you could say it's at the parents' discretion, but I'm not sure if showing an over 18 movie to kids old enough to understand what's going on (or possibly be frightened by it) would be legal? Or if anyone at all under 18 is legally not allowed in? I don't know how it works. Is it like pubs?

That seems really odd. Was it really after just one complaint to the council? Do the council have a say in the cinema's policies? You would think that if the Picture House agreed that this change in policy was reasonable, they would apply it to all their cinemas. What is the upper age of the children at the baby friendly showings, or is one not specified? I'm not sure how I feel about the actual policy, I'm just surprised about why and how it has apparently been so suddenly implemented.

I was about to post the very same thing! Good points, and I wonder how these issues are resolved in the skate park in Peckham Rye park? The park has closing times when the gates are supposed to be locked, but in practice they don't always seem to be locked when they should be. I don't know why - possibly staff absence? There is also a skate park on the South Bank - I wonder how the insurance and/or safety issues are addressed here. Presumably the place is open for skating 24/7, as there wouldn't seem to be any way to close it?

Crikey. I made one comment relating to the ice cream flavour, which referred to a previous thread which you started. That thread was also about a specific named local cafe (not the same one). You subsequently deleted most of your very long posts on it, which included one in which you made false and insulting assumptions about another forum member (not me). Luckily nobody had quoted your posts in their responses, so the content is no longer on here. (ETA: That may have been another thread). In view of the subject of that thread (you and your son didn't like the vegan hot chocolate) I thought my comment above about the ice cream flavour was funny. I'm sorry if you found it "sarcastic". There was a competition to name the old Uplands when it was taken over by the person who owned the Bishop, and "The Actress" won for obvious reasons 🤣 The Foresters was vile (in my opinion). I'm interested that there are still problems with the smell from the Gents, because in the Foresters days you could smell it as soon as you went in, and my memory is that it felt like you were squelching your way over the carpet, though I'm sure that can't have been true 🤣

I had to phone King's this morning. The first thing you get is a recorded message saying basically that norovirus (I can't remember the exact words) is everywhere at the moment, and please don't come to the hospital if you have symptoms. I would strongly suspect that anybody with sickness and/or diarrhoea at the moment is very much more likely to have caught norovirus or similar than to have got food poisoning from an ice cream. Like COVID, one person in the family can easily get it first, and doesn't necessarily pass it on to the others, especially if they take appropriate precautions. I am very tempted to ask if it was vegan chocolate flavoured ice-cream, but I will resist. Oh, I can't 🤣 I hope your son gets better soon

Probably most of the people using the forum, and possibly many of the people posting on this thread, don't conform to your requirements. I don't, for a start. You and a few others on here just have bees in your bonnet because someone living just outside the SE22 boundary posts on the ED Forum and makes valid points which you don't agree with. Eh? You think climate change doesn't exist? I expect there are many people contributing to this forum who don't live exactly within the SE22 or Southwark borough boundaries. What on earth does it matter, if they have an interest in the subject under discussion and frequently come to or through SE22 (or even if they don't)? Yes, even just the thread title will stick in people's minds, with the specific cafe mentioned. And they will see it every time they look at the list of threads in this section of the forum. It might be a good idea to change it to remove the cafe name and say something like "a local cafe"?

Places selling ice cream have to conform to really strict hygiene regulations. It's highly unlikely that this café would risk their customer's health, or their reputation, by not adhering to them. As said above, there are lots of things going around at the moment.

Because . ...? What would your unromanticised film version of the skate park be? Are you saying that what it portrays is wrong in some way?
