I'd much rather just sit on one bus from the Elephant to ED, however slow, than get a train to DH and then have to get another bus! But each to their own, obviously! I'm old and lazy these days! Isn't there only one exit now from the Elephant, or have I dreamed it?! I thought that if you come out of the tube station at the Elephant and turn right there is a bus stop very nearby? However not all the buses to ED come down that road.

No. It starts and stops from the TCR end of Charing Cross Road, and has done for years now, unfortunately.

That's a bit bonkers, have I misunderstood? I thought estate agents made more money if the house sold for a higher price? Is that not the case? How can they be working for the buyer if they are supposed to be "employed" by the seller?

Beansprout, I think that's quite unfair. I was only trying to help. How was I to know you had your phone checked out last week? I thought I was making a useful suggestion. It's good that you have now eliminated that possibility. What I couldn't understand is, if it is an iD (and hence 3) issue, and the connection all over London is as bad as you are experiencing, then everybody using iD or 3 would be having exactly the same problems. I hadn't seen any publicity, so I just googled. It seems that reception in central London and other densely populated areas is a known problem with 3/iD, so I must just be lucky. Though none of the posts I could find were recent. I hope you have better luck with a different provider.

Did you see my post above where iD suggested to someone else with your problems that it could be a sim or device issue? Why are you so sure it isn't your phone that has developed a fault? Phones can and do go wrong (reinstalling the app would not help if your phone itself is faulty). To test this out: Have you tried your SIM card in somebody else's phone? If they don't have connection problems, then the fault is with your phone (though see below - your SIM card could be faulty, in which case this test wouldn't work). Have you tried somebody else's SIM card in your phone? If you still have the same connection problems, then the fault is with your phone. Both of those tests would tell you if the problem was with your phone rather than the network. Only if the connection problems continued would the problem probably be with the iD network. Have you asked for another SIM card to try out (with the same phone number, obviously!) in case your SIM card has become faulty? Have you tried their live chat (link above) which they say can help with further troubleshooting? These things would be quite quick and easy to do, and could save you a lot of time and inconvenience changing providers!

The 12 is ok but it goes all round the houses via Peckham, unless you get another bus and change to the 12 somewhere after Camberwell Green (if you can be bothered!) Also the earlier you get on the 12, the more likely the front seats at the top will be free 🤣 Yes, it's a pain having to trek up to TCR to get the 176. Oxford Street is a very long street! It was very convenient when the 176 went to Oxford Circus. But Regent Street was closed for ages for some kind of works (?gas? Water?) I don't know if it's opened again. So it was better to get the tube to Oxford Circus. Also, the 12 used to go to Notting Hill. I had a friend who lived there and we could go straight through to and from ED on one bus. And the 37 used to go to Richmond. Various ways to get there now, but they all involve at least one change. I suppose we should be grateful for a public transport system at all, rather than moaning (in my case) about it!

Yes, my brother lived in that area and had to change to something other than Vodafone. He didn't just have a "weak" signal. He had no signal at all.

Not sure that would do A3 colour copying, but I might be wrong. Last time I was there, admittedly a long time ago, they just did A4. Actually, I have a vague memory that Oru might do photocopying, no idea if they do A3 though.

We did check our journey. The train supposed to be going to East Dulwich at whatever the time was didn't go there. It went straight to Tulse Hill. Other people were stranded as well. There was no explanation. And when we asked staff when the next train was, it was in something like forty minutes' time. If memory serves, unless you want a fairly long walk round the corner to the bus stop in Walworth Road where both the 176 and 40 stop, since the modernisation the nearest bus stop to the Elephant station exit is only for the176, not the 40? I don't find the area a problem since they did away with the underpasses. I actually prefer going to Oval because although there's only the 185, the bus stop is just opposite the station exit, and there's a bus shelter. Also the bus journey is shorter than that from the Elephant. Yes a bus to Camberwell would have been an option, that was why we tried to get a 35 from London Bridge, which after we had waited for ages sailed past the bus stop full. There are many more options once at Camberwell than just the 185, though of course the 185 is coming from a different direction. But once at Camberwell you have the 40, 176, 185 or 484 to East Dulwich. I wasn't aware of any trains to Herne Hill from London Bridge, thanks, I will check it out, though it seems a bit of a long way round!

Sadly I think if a previous petition had no effect, things are unlikely to be different now. Whatever the reason was for changing the route presumably is still the same? Do you know what it was? TfL must have had data to back it up, surely? It can't have been just a random Friday afternoon decision made out of the blue to cause maximum inconvenience to people from East Dulwich trying to get to and from London Bridge/Guys without having to change buses when there are problems with the trains?

No chance of the 40 route being changed back now, I'm sure. But the trains should have been running, though delayed, according to the Google maps info - but it turned out they weren't stopping at East Dulwich. Couldn't get a bus - eventually a 35 turned up but zoomed past full. We could have walked from LB to ED in the time it took us to get back here by public transport.

Absolute nightmare trying to get back to East Dulwich from London Bridge this early evening. Trains all messed up - East Dulwich train not stopping there, fast to Tulse Hill - buses all messed up, got tube to Oval then 185 apparently due in 1 minute for about ten minutes didn't arrive. Still in transit after about an hour. Can't find any explanation online. Does anyone know what's wrong, or are we just very very unlucky?

Surely it shouldn't take 7 days for a prescription to be ready? Have they said why? Is it because the specific medication isn't readily available? This was a while ago now, but I had terrible problems when I needed an urgent prescription for an antibiotic eye cream (for an ulcer on my eye) and couldn't get it anywhere. But surely this can't be the reason if they have a general notice up saying allow 7 days? Are they short staffed? Are GPs aware of this? Does this 7 days apply to everything, no matter how urgent?

I've found Vale Pharmacy to be good. My only issues were due to problems with the wholesalers, not with the actual pharmacy.

A friend who lives in the next road says the word on the street is that a young Irish family is taking over the Blythe. But also, some local (to the pub!) people were looking into the possibility of it becoming a community owned pub, which would have been nice. Who knows. Wait and see, eh. Fingers crossed and hope it doesn't change too much 😭 There aren't many pubs like the Blythe left 😭

Have you actually read my posts?! I didn't say I'd "rather it closed because it doesn't provide for my needs"! I would say FFS, but admin might object. Oh. I did. Sorry admin. Many shops round here and elsewhere don't "provide for my needs", but I don't think they should be closed down!!! As I thought I had already clearly said, my comment on its closure was in the context of things like Cancerian's original post re the lack of staff on the tills and their five minute wait to be served. Cancerian also said that the self service checkouts were not in use. Just because you have not experienced those things doesn't mean they didn't/don't happen! And yes, re the small sizes. That's my point. That's why (some of?) the prices are cheaper, but it doesn't mean you are getting some kind of bargain.
