The Actress is often really full depending on the match. And for Wimbledon - which is the only time I'd go out to watch sport :)

:( ETA: Pity it wasn't a pine, PGC, eh?

If it's just one branch, it's often due to stupid people, probably drunk, pulling it off the tree if it's within reach. If that's the case the end of the branch where it's been ripped off the tree will be all ragged, and not cleanly sawn off.

Could it be that somebody in the practice has made a typo when entering your details? If say there was a letter wrong in your surnames, or a digit wrong in the house number, then there wouldn't be a match.

I can't see that the council would have any possible reason to cut all the branches off a tree, leave the trunk behind, leave the branches lying all over the pavement and road for at least a day, deny that they had done it, but then send in their enforcement team to find out who had !

That's what I would have done. And I imagine they couldn't, although they managed to loosen it which is why it moves, so will have to remove it by some other method.

Completely agree, dbboy. Will you "Southwark Wood"ers be out in North Cross Road again tomorrow trying to get people to sign your petition? Because much as I love woods and green spaces, I shan't be signing it. Again. I didn't get much joy when I asked you what the council's position was, and I don't sign petitions without knowing all the facts. And can I ask you again, do you have permission for these events you are holding in the cemetery?

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If they just cut away the branches, it doesn't > sound like it was anything to do with the roots > and foundations of a building. Obviously I have no idea, but possibly they were disturbed before they could cut down the trunk - or didn't have sufficiently strong tools to do it. In some cases, removing a mature tree can actually cause more damage to a building than leaving it there, unless you know what you are doing. A quick google brought up this (I'm doing a Dulwich Fox now :)) ): "Heave can be caused by the removal of trees or severe pruning of mature trees which can allow clay soils to recover their moisture content which results in the ground swelling and causing uplift or heave. Heave is also seasonal and the extent of heave can vary throughout the year. Heave can cause serious damage to properties" http://info.westberks.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=35300&p=0 IF it was done by the owners of an adjacent house, or people working for them, they may have shot themselves in the foot. Edited to add the bold

A web designer doesn't just work in the dark! They design a website according to the needs of the client! The skills required are technical skills, which surely only come into play once the client decides what is required. In this case, the website is basically there already. It just needs somebody from DMC to go through each bit of it and identify errors (including links going to the wrong place), omissions and duplication. It doesn't need somebody with any technical skills to do that! Where the technical skills come in is then translating the required amendments into the techie language, html or javascript or whatever.

They are investigating who cut the tree down. It was not the council and it was not contractors on the council's behalf.

The thing is, in the case of the Ulverscroft Road tree, it is not right for people to take things into their own hands in this way. If it was undermining the foundations in some way they should have contacted the council. Quite apart from the main issue, they didn't even bother to remove the branches, just left them cluttering up the pavement and some of the road.

James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't think they have the skills to appreciate > what they need to do around web design. All they've got to do is go through their website bit by bit and ascertain: 1. What links are not linking to the correct part of the website 2. What information is out of date and needs updating 3. What information should be on there but isn't (if any) 4. What links are apparently in more than one part of the home page but linking to different places Then it would probably take a web designer not more than a couple of hours' work to put things right. I too don't see why somebody should do this voluntarily.

AAARRRRGHHH just googled it and the one in Wandsworth has become a Young's Inn ie a HOTEL GRRRRRR Can't think of much worse though I guess it was always a Young's pub. Back to the Cherry Tree, so when is it reopening then?

The Two Brewers was in Wandsworth, wasn't it? An ex of mine used to play in a band there sometimes.

Well, I "successfully" booked an appointment for Thursday, which is good. However it was confirmed before I had finished entering the reason for the appointment, so whoever reads it will be a bit surprised by "numb fr" - I couldn't go back to correct it ..... numb fingers if anyone is wondering ..... :(

I just clicked on the red link to register at the top of their website, which says "Register via our online registration form", and it links to a page with tabs for non English speakers, temporary residents, contact details (of the surgery), careers and practice policies! But absolutely no way to register via an online registration form! I tried the "Appointments" menu and "New ways to book appointments", and there is apparently no way there to register either. Can anybody help? Am I in the wrong place or on the wrong website? I'm using this one: http://www.dmccrystalpalaceroad.co.uk This website does however have a link enabling you to register to receive text message reminders - which according to someone above they no longer send out :( ETA: Ah, OK, I see it's via a different link "Book appointments online". Somebody needs to get the website together ....

A beautiful mature Rowan tree (Mountain Ash) in Ulverscroft Road has had all its branches hacked off and just left on the pavement. It was the last tree in the road on the even-numbered side, at the Whateley Road end. When I saw it like this yesterday, I assumed that the council had done it for some reason. However I just passed it as a council team were collecting the branches, and apparently the council did not do it, and the enforcement team is "investigating". This was not just random vandalism by some drunken person pulling off a low lying branch. Somebody must have deliberately got a ladder and sawed every branch off. To whoever you are - shame on you. The tree cannot be saved. However the council will plant another tree, so if you didn't want a tree there - too bad.

I do that every year, never had squirrel probs! I don't use nuts though so maybe that's why!
