  2. I was so gutted to miss this, especially Chris Shaw and The Rye Ranters Rip-roaring Barn Dance Band. I heard his melodeon drifting down North Cross Road as I walked to the station on my way to - ironically - a melodeon class :(

Cars can scarcely get through. Why do they need more than one bog? Have all the builders got dodgy bladders or something?
  4. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I've never been in there before. But I saw some > pics online and it looks like a bit of a time > capsule... xxxxx Yes it is, that's why it's so fantastic :))

Also, all very well knowing, but in a potentially very stressful and life-threatening situation, you might forget .....

Anything to distract me from that > tick tick tick xxxxxx SJ, I fully sympathise, BUT If it went "tick tick tick" for a bit, then stopped for random but quite short intervals, then started again, wouldn't that drive you madder? I have that from the boiler (not ticking, firing up. Not mine, btw. Had it been mine, it would have been in landfill by now :)) ) ETA: Sometimes it's not random. Sometimes it's regular short intervals. I lie and wait for the next one ... and the next one ... and the next one .... much like planes, then ....
  7. alice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That big hospice shop - always some brilliant > tracks - makes his own mixtapes xxxxxxx Whenever I've been in there - which is frequently - there's only ever been the radio on?
  8. Kuki. If a hairdresser counts as a shop. Shingo has some great stuff via Spotify. Never thought I'd hear Davy/Davey Graham whilst having my hair cut. He has to let the other stylists have their music on sometimes though :))
  9. Yeh. Don't you miss seeing Concorde going over though? I do :(
  10. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- the bloody birds.. why don't they have a lie > in. > xxxxxxxx It's the bloody foxes that keep me awake. At least birds don't dig extremely large holes beneath the roots of shrubs :( I too am sick of the planes, drilling, banging (as in hammers), shouting, shrieking and noisy boilers which all pierce me to the very core, and am considering emigrating to Mars :))

Your only option apart from burning or choking to death. I know what I'd do .....

ETA: Sadly they won't (or wouldn't) let anything be booked on a Friday night, for which Bingo is sacrosanct (not sure if that's grammatical, but you know what I mean ....)
  13. RIP.

Are you as unhappy a person as your posts make you sound?

What a load of b******s.

  17. *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It was worth reading down just to see the > contributor with the username 'racially ambiguous > hottie'. xxxxxxx Indeed it was :)) ETA: I quite liked the "Yeh, when I stepped on an ant" comment, too.
  18. Whilst completely agreeing that leaving keys in the lock is not sensible burglar-wise, there is a potential issue with getting out of the house in case of a fire (as Lane Lover says). I know this is a highly unlikely situation, but it is one my brother was in some years ago. He was staying at a friend's house overnight, she had locked the front door and put the keys somewhere, there was a fire and he couldn't get out. Luckily they were able to get onto an outside balcony and call for help and a neighbour called the fire brigade. So make sure you put the keys somewhere easily accessible by you, possibly in the dark/smoke, and that everybody in the house knows where they are :(

So DO ants have funerals? I've just wasted (another) five minutes of my life googling it, but hey it was worth it: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120509064633AAeW30w

Let's hope they actually get it sorted out after the meeting. I am going to try to go, though I have not (yet) been so badly affected by the problems as other people.

Have seen a young fox lying on the pavement outside Foxy's home at night! We met Foxy whilst walking home from the fireworks and the fox did appear to be Waiting for him. I have mixed feelings. Love them as creatures, love that they are living in the city, curse them when they dig huge holes in my garden and keep me awake screaming. On balance I am glad they are around though :)

Xxxxx As I have said, I am not continuing this discussion here. If you want to go down this road, which has nothing to do with the OP which in any case has been deleted by the poster, then start a thread in the lounge. Then you can argue about definitions all you like :)
  24. Something has been digging in my pots and windowboxes and uprooting plants. I thought it was after bulbs, but some bulbs have been left lying on the surface. Fox? Cat? Squirrel? They were daffodil bulbs and in my experience squirrels go for crocuses. Any ideas? I've belatedly protected them with a Heath Robinson contraption of canes and string :))
