"Could be anybody"? How many "black guys with mental health issues" live in this road?!?!? So we have two potential culprits, this person and the "Indian looking" cabbie spotted by a postie. Perhaps they are working together to confuse us? -

The Cherry Tree official opening Thursday 30th August
Sue replied to chrisharvey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We were there last night too, for the first time since the changes. First impressions: We loved the garden and didn't think it was too dark, just atmospheric with the tea lights. Much nicer and leafier than many pub gardens, and seemed to be well cared for. Good range of real ale. We were recommended one which we really liked, and could have had a taster first. Very friendly and welcoming bar staff. The bar snacks looked absolutely yummy - we didn't try any last night but definitely will in future, eg the black pudding Scotch egg. They also seemed well priced at ?4 each or (I think) four for ?15. It was quite empty, but then it was a Tuesday night, and also most people seemed to be in the garden. My only criticism, and it's a minor one, is that the lighting was much too bright inside. Combined with the new white walls, the bright lighting made it all seem very stark, which in fact was the main reason we headed for the garden. It didn't feel like it would have been a welcoming space to sit, particularly on an evening when there were so many empty tables. Dimming the main lights and having tea lights would have made the space much more welcoming. But overall, a massive, massive improvement and I wish it well - we'll definitely be back! -

Because if it's based on nothing apart from the fact that somebody in the road apparently has mental health issues, I don't think it should be being bandied about on here. It's disrespectful to the person concerned. If it's based on facts, then let's hear what they are. ETA: And the same goes for the post about the "Indian looking" cabbie. -

I haven't noticed on Goose Green, but in many parks etc councils are deliberately leaving areas unmown for parts of the year to make meadows. These are home for wildflowers and attract beneficial insects such as bees. -
The Ship Song Where the Red Roses Grow (with Kylie :) ) The first Grinderman album - some brilliant lyrics eg Go Tell The Women

Their sweets are expensive but very yummy for special occasions, and their ice cream is fantastic - and fantastic value. -
Where is this restaurant? (So I can avoid it!)

So did I, but I thought it had just gone to businesses (I used to have one). I presume they think it is worth pre-empting loads of people contacting them to find out why their delivery arrangements have changed? -
Ms B Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't kill the snails - they help keep your pond > clean as they eat the plant debris in it. xxxxxx I think that is a different kind of snail ....... which lives in water .....

Looks like a stapler to me! It would probably take you so long to get the hang of it, you'd be quicker just sewing the toys by hand. Felt's quite thick to use a sewing machine on, too, especially as presumably you're sewing together two layers of it?

I came out of the session gasping for a ciggie. I don't smoke any more, but I don't think the person in question can claim success for my giving up more than ten years later ...... :)

They seem to have had a relatively long life span then, if it is the same two - lucky them :)

Totally effective. Bit > of a mental barrier to break though :-) xxxxxxxx Do you put it in a container, or just sprinkle it on the soil? I like foxes, but not the holes they dig or the noise they make in my very small garden :(

But the money he got was surely nothing to do with the intrinsic value of the gold the medal contained , but surely everything to do with the historic value of the medal .......

Undisputedtruth Wrote: Well it seems Nando's portions are > getting more smaller and more expensive each > year. > xxxxxxxx That's interesting you should say that - I haven't eaten at Nando's much, but last time the portions seemed to be so tiny it was scarcely a meal at all. I thought it was just me being greedy :)

Does it really matter? The winners are hardly likely to take them to the pawn shop or sell them to be melted down, are they? :) It's the achievement that they symbolise that's important, surely?

Gold is a very soft metal though, isn't it? Probably not suitable to make a solid gold medal from, quite apart from the cost :) That's why it's mixed with other metals to make gold jewellery of various carats, I thought?

Thanks for your very thorough research, Burbage, I'll return to hoping I win the lottery (well I did win a tenner recently) :)

That's a very good idea - I didn't know the council did that. I guess they want to make sure the formal hearing doesn't go on for hours and hours so they get as much of the discussion done as possible beforehand? -
