I've never once seen them sitting down, outside the Palmerston (sic) or anywhere else, and I live just round the corner. And if they are, so what? People get breaks other than at lunch times. If you think your street isn't being swept when it should be, you should complain to the council. Dissing people on here isn't likely to get your street clean, and it's a bit unfair to make insinuations when presumably you have no idea what their work schedule is.

Oh FFS. It was because I felt so strongly about this all those years ago - after, if memory serves, somebody was getting people to sign a petition against it outside the North Cross Road pharmacy - that I googled the issue and first came upon this forum. Do people honestly think that addicts responsible enough to be using a needle exchange are some sort of danger to the public, including small children? Get a grip. You're probably unknowingly working with some of them.

Petition to save East Dulwich Police Station

You should be ashamed of this kind of > subterfuge. xxxxxxx There IS an opt out option. Please look at the website again, and check your facts before posting. I opted out of further communications. (Edited to add) It does ALSO say that you can opt out in the future at any time, but you can definitely also opt out from the outset, as I did. Giving your email address is solely so that nobody can sign the petition pretending to be you and giving your email address. This is common practice. You then get an email which you reply to, to confirm that the email address given was genuinely from you. I think it would be a pity if people are now put off signing the petition. Edited again to say: I have no connection whatsoever with the LibDems, and I think the issue of who has started the petition is completely irrelevant to the substantive issue about the closure of ED Police Station, which is why I saw no need to include information about the Lib Dems in the OP. Edited again for clarity. -
Howling Dog Choumert Road / Danby Street

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I haven't seen anything - admin please delete if it's a duplicate thread. Apparently Boris Johnson promised before his election that "no front (police station) counter will be closed without a new improved facility being put in its place." He changed his tune after the election, and surprise surprise, it has been announced that East Dulwich Police Station is to close. There is more information online, together with a petition where you can support the campaign to keep a police station in East Dulwich with a 24-hour counter. You can sign it at http://www.southwark-libdems.org.uk However to the best of my knowledge there has not been 24/7 opening there for years?

It got stuck halfway down a hole in the pavement with its bum and horrid scaly ratty tail sticking out of the hole. Another resident of the road pushed it down the hole with his foot, and it disappeared. Sadly I didn't have my camera with me :) ETA: This was in broad daylight in the middle of the day :(

northlondoner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is it me or is street cleaning in ED now really > abysmal? Area is looking quite scruffy once you > leave LL xxxxxx I live near North Cross Road and I quite often see our street cleaner at work in my road or the streets around it. I think he does a really good job, but obviously he can't be everywhere at once so if someone drops litter just after he's cleaned a street, it's hardly his fault!

I don't watch much tennis, and what I want to know is, whatever happened to the Serve and Volley which the mens' game in particular always seemed to consist of? Have they been told to give the spectators more for their money by having longer rallies, or something? They hardly seem to go to the net at all these days if yesterday was anything to go by ..... And when did they change the tie-break system? (Showing my age, please don't tell me it was thirty years ago :) )

Went to the exhibition on Saturday. Absolutely loved it. The tapestries are stunning, and lots of references to other works of art etc if you are into that sort of thing. There is also a brilliant and really interesting installation upstairs by Sarah Sze (who also has smaller ones in a room which you have to walk through to get to the Grayson Perry). Nearly missed it but very glad I didn't. Would have been worth going for that alone. Never heard of her before. Good cup of tea overlooking a nice pond, too :)

Extract from: http://www.ehow.com/how_4531069_align-satellite-dish-meter.html Clear the area of any obstacles. Objects must not interrupt the signal from the satellites to the dish. Remove any branches, bushes or other obstructions blocking the satellite dish, or move it to another place. The signal comes down at a 50-degree angle from the sky, so be certain to inspect the area within this space. ETA: Could you post a note through his neighbour's letterbox explaining the situation and saying that if they do not trim the bushes by a certain date (giving them reasonable notice) then you will arrange for it to be done? Or words to that effect?

the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > All these people who favour giving to homeless > charity I wonder how much they actually give xxxxxxx You can sponsor a room at Centrepoint for only ?12 a month - the Goose has done that for several years, but we have recently changed our sponsorship to a charity more directly related to what we do (music). Centrepoint works with homeless young people - find out more here: http://www.centrepoint.org.uk/what-you-can-do/donate

I realise everybody's situation is different so different insurers will be better value in different cases. However I just did a comparison and on the basis of price (like for like) was going to go with the RAC, but on googling they seem to have terrible reviews - as of course do many other insurers. Just wondered whether anybody reading this has had either good or bad experiences with them - for insurance, not rescue. The only reason I stayed with my old insurer for so long, even though more expensive, was because when I needed to claim when my car was stolen I had really excellent service.

Just wondering whether all this had been resolved? I'm with Orange and have more or less given up attempting to use my present cheapo LG phone to go online, but I'm due an upgrade which will be to a smart phone (San Diego intel) which I've not had before. It's a good deal for me with a free phone and only ten quid a month (250mg internet, 200 minutes, 300 texts), but before I handcuff myself into a two year contract again, have people found the reception on Orange OK with smart phones in this area, or should I be looking to change from Orange even if I have to pay more?

If the photo is too large, it waits for ages before telling you it's too large. Are you clicking on the "attach" button after you've browsed and found the jpeg?
