When I first had a moth problem I spent about fifty quid on non-chemical stuff I bought from John Lewis - lavender, sandalwood etc.. None of it worked. The only thing I found that worked (and so have many other people judging from reviews on Amazon etc) was odourless chemical strips of paper you put amongst your clothes, combined with hanging chemical things for the wardrobe. I also had to spray wall hangings and things initially. I still very occasionally see a moth - recently lately amongst stored towels where I hadn't put paper strips - and I either squish it or spray it with a Rentokil spray, but touch wood the fairly major problem I once had has gone.
  2. Glue traps won't catch all the moths and are very cruel. If you have read the previous threads I'm not sure what is confusing you, but the chemicals I recommended there worked for my moth problem. Nothing else did. Moth eggs are visible, but it would take you a very long time to check every item of clothing you possess, I imagine!
  3. I live in a road off North Cross Road, and I very rarely have any significant problems parking. It can be bad for a couple of hours on Fridays which is the main day of worship at the mosque in NCR, and sometimes on Saturdays because of the market, but even then I can almost always park in my road, just not always right outside my house.
  4. Just bringing this to the top in case some people haven't seen the date of the meeting.

When the first one opened in London it was great (unless my memory is bad) but now they just serve terrible overpriced rubbish. I'd far rather see a Vietnamese restaurant here. I really like the food the guy with the van serves on North Cross Road.
  8. Bunny19 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Was walking in and out of the place and saw him > today too xxxxxx But saw him where? Behind the bar, or where? Working there, or what?
  9. Bunny19 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Went yesterday, can't understand why the old owner > is still milling around there, xxxxxxx What do you mean by "milling around"? Was he behind the bar, or drinking in the pub as a customer? When we went he wasn't anywhere to be seen, and the bar staff said that we had just missed the new owners, who had just left.
  10. Lol. I haven't actually had one here, but I've had one elsewhere, and it was a Scotch egg with black pudding instead of/incorporated into the sausage meat. It was yummy, I love good black pudding, and I look forward to trying the Cherry Tree's version.
  11. holloway Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > a scotch egg at 4 quid, well priced?? really?? xxxxxxx It's a black pudding Scotch egg. Not something from Lidl.
  12. Nicholas Spears Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How much respect should we give to someone who > leaves bottles of mystery orange liquid on the > street? xxxxxxxx None at all if we know who it is - but, we don't, although two separate posters have publicly pointed the finger at two completely different people :)
  13. buckleypink Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I won't bother elaborating what the rumour is > based on because as you said it's "disrespectful" > dispite the fact in my post I haven't publically > named the person who is doing it (a black guy with > mental health issues could be anybody) xxxxxxx Eh? "Could be anybody"? How many "black guys with mental health issues" live in this road?!?!? So we have two potential culprits, this person and the "Indian looking" cabbie spotted by a postie. Perhaps they are working together to confuse us?

Callie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > the guys that used to go round the roads weeding > don't come any more, well I haven't seen any in > ages, I assume it's something to do with all the > cut backs, pardon the pun lol xxxxxx When you say "weeding", do you mean those guys who spray noxious chemicals on all the lovely wild flowers that grow on the edges of the pavements? :(
  15. We were there last night too, for the first time since the changes. First impressions: We loved the garden and didn't think it was too dark, just atmospheric with the tea lights. Much nicer and leafier than many pub gardens, and seemed to be well cared for. Good range of real ale. We were recommended one which we really liked, and could have had a taster first. Very friendly and welcoming bar staff. The bar snacks looked absolutely yummy - we didn't try any last night but definitely will in future, eg the black pudding Scotch egg. They also seemed well priced at ?4 each or (I think) four for ?15. It was quite empty, but then it was a Tuesday night, and also most people seemed to be in the garden. My only criticism, and it's a minor one, is that the lighting was much too bright inside. Combined with the new white walls, the bright lighting made it all seem very stark, which in fact was the main reason we headed for the garden. It didn't feel like it would have been a welcoming space to sit, particularly on an evening when there were so many empty tables. Dimming the main lights and having tea lights would have made the space much more welcoming. But overall, a massive, massive improvement and I wish it well - we'll definitely be back!

Because if it's based on nothing apart from the fact that somebody in the road apparently has mental health issues, I don't think it should be being bandied about on here. It's disrespectful to the person concerned. If it's based on facts, then let's hear what they are. ETA: And the same goes for the post about the "Indian looking" cabbie.
  19. I haven't noticed on Goose Green, but in many parks etc councils are deliberately leaving areas unmown for parts of the year to make meadows. These are home for wildflowers and attract beneficial insects such as bees.

Their sweets are expensive but very yummy for special occasions, and their ice cream is fantastic - and fantastic value.
  22. Where is this restaurant? (So I can avoid it!)
  23. So did I, but I thought it had just gone to businesses (I used to have one). I presume they think it is worth pre-empting loads of people contacting them to find out why their delivery arrangements have changed?

  25. Looks like a stapler to me! It would probably take you so long to get the hang of it, you'd be quicker just sewing the toys by hand. Felt's quite thick to use a sewing machine on, too, especially as presumably you're sewing together two layers of it?
