Nobody's going to see it here - they're on sale in aid of a community project, which is somewhat different from somebody offloading a sofa .....
-
Why on earth has this been moved into the "For Sale" section???

Where have my threads gone about the raffle and the sealed bids auction? Anybody know? We're trying to raise money for the community garden !!!!
-
I've just added another couple of prizes to the list attached in my original post :)
-
Very sorry, we did consider that, but we thought that it would become too complicated, and also disappointing/boring for people who are there if none of them win any of the raffle prizes! If you know someone who is going, maybe they could buy raffle tickets for you? The only reason we're allowing sealed bids for the auction beforehand is because there is potentially a greater amount of money involved to benefit the garden.

In case you've missed it elsewhere, I thought it would be a good idea to put a thread in the Family Room. The Goose Is Out! is organising a fundraising day for the new Dulwich Community Garden, to be built in the grounds of Dulwich Hospital. There will be live music from 2pm to 9pm - see below for the line-up. Everybody involved is giving their time for free, including all the musicians, and all proceeds from tickets, the cake stall, the raffle and the auction will go directly to the garden. We have planned the day on the assumption that probably if you have younger children you may want to come earlier, but children are welcome to stay till the end. There will be room for them to run around, and there will be cakes to bribe them with ( joke :) ) In order not to exclude anybody because of cost, tickets are only ?5 for the whole day and children under 12 are free! We hope though that if you can afford more than a fiver, you will donate more for this worthy cause. The bar will be open all day for the sale of alcoholic (including real ale) and non-alcoholic drinks, and there will be hot food and hot drinks available too. Once you have your ticket you can come and go as you please, but do note that if you arrive late without a ticket and the venue is full, we will not be able to let you in, so if you want to be sure of seeing the later acts including Wizz, we do suggest you buy your tickets early - see below if you'd like to buy them before the day. Here's the running order - please note that it may be subject to change if there are circumstances outside our control. Each set lasts 45 minutes and there will be a 15 minute break between each act with DJing from our very own and very lovely FlapJackDavey :) 2pm - Rob Anderson And The Wayne Drury Project 3pm - Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke 4pm - THE DULWICH UKULELE CLUB 5pm - Joe Wilkes 6pm - The John McLean Band 7pm - WIZZ JONES 8pm - The No Frills Band Click here for lots of info about the event and all the musicians! Click here to buy tickets online now! The online booking fee is only 50p, but if you would rather donate that money to the community garden, advance tickets are also available from Health Matters on Lordship Lane. :)-D Oh, and in case of misunderstandings - the day is inside under cover in a nice warm room at DHFC (next to Sainsbury's on Dog Kennel Hill) and NOT outside in the community garden itself (garden festivities are planned for the Summer, we understand :) ) There will also be a raffle with fabulous prizes, and a sealed bids auction with even more fabulous items to bid for!

As part of the fundraising day this Sunday 22 January (see the links below if you don't know about it) there will be a fabulous raffle! Tickets will be available at only a pound for a strip of five - and the tickets will be separated when the raffle is drawn, so for a pound you will have five chances to win these fantastic prizes kindly donated mainly by local businesses and residents. Prizes include a ?40 voucher to spend at The Actress, a box of goodies from SMBS and a voucher for any pair of men's, women's or children's shoes from any Central London branch of Camper Shoes. For a full list of the prizes so far confirmed, please see the attached list! The raffle will be drawn at 6.45pm before our headliner Wizz Jones plays. There will also be a sealed bids auction for two even more fabulous prizes - see the separate thread! Click here to find out more about the fundraising day!! And even more information here!! Edited to update the list of raffle prizes.

kristen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >> > Wish I could get something for the gas meter > though as that's my biggest expense. xxxxxxx Gas is probably a bit easier to monitor yourself than electricity, because it's probably just running the cooker (if it's gas), central heating and hot water (unless you have gas fires)? Thermostatic valves on all your radiators help, plus turning down the central thermostat to the lowest comfortable temperature, and I've taken to doing all my clothes on a cold water wash unless they're really dirty - seems to work fine. Also using the smallest possible ring to cook things so you're not wasting gas round the sides of the saucepan, and cooking a lot at once and freezing some (or cooking more than one thing over the same ring, eg put a steamer on top of the saucepan). Blimey I'm getting very frugal :)) Sorry admin, don't want this thread lounged as the initiative is still live in East Dulwich, so if the above is not relevant please delete :-$ -

Why don't you approach the pubs and ask them? Many are always looking for good live bands which will attract the punters. Hoopers and The Ivy House are two which spring to mind immediately :)
-
Surely this is the same everywhere? I live round the corner from both North Cross Road market and the mosque in North Cross Road. At certain times/days of the week I also sometimes find it difficult to park near my house, and occasionally in my road, if I'm not already parked there. It's just a fact of city life, surely. And probably country life too in certain places, eg near pubs. If you have a pressing need to park near your house, maybe you should move somewhere with off-street parking?

Well I like it, and I'm happy for some of my tax to go towards restoring it. :) -
My brother and his partner had naming ceremonies for their children. I'm not sure where they got the last person they used, but she mis-pronounced one of the children's names throughout the whole ceremony! Although apparently they had met her beforehand and talked the whole thing through with her including the names! Jennyh, had you considered just making up your own ceremony and doing it yourselves? It would be very personal then to yourselves and your friends.

I know this isn't what you're asking, but had you considered soft varifocal contact lenses? I have monthly ones, and I find them excellent. My vision is very good with them except in very dim lighting, when I find reading difficult, and they're really comfortable to wear and easy to maintain. I eke them out for a lot longer than a month as when I'm not going out I slob around the house in glasses :)) I go to the Institute of Optometry to get the prescription, but I get the actual lenses cheaply off the internet (exactly the same make etc as I would get if I paid a lot more for them). I'm interested to know with the laser surgery (I'm far too squeamish to have it done) - what happens when your vision changes as you get older? Do you have to keep on having more surgery every few years? Does it scar?

I can hopefully say this without being accused of having a vested interest, as I don't sell them any more, but a magnotherapy wristband worked for me - I originally got it to sort my arthritic aches and pains (which it did) and it sorted my migraines as well. I hadn't realised it had until I suddenly became aware that I hadn't had a migraine for months (now years - apart from very very very rarely). You need a strong one though, not a cheap wishy-washy one. One of my customers (I started selling them after I had had such good results) had had severe migraines since she was a child, and after she started wearing a wristband, she hardly had any, just the occasional one when she was extremely stressed. ETA: I gave a three month money-back unconditional guarantee, and only had two or three back the whole time I sold them - and of those, clearly one had never actually been worn ....
