Unfortunately, it was the "coked-up pissed-up wannabe crim geezers" as Brand New Guy describes them above who we were told were "regulars" and therefore took precedence over our Singaround. Nyge (my OH and the other half of the Goose) went in in December to put up a notice (with permission obviously) on the night of the Singaround saying that it was now at the Mag, in case people turned up at the CPT, and one of these "regulars" said to him "I'll take that down as soon as you've gone, mate." Charming. So if these people are still there after the refurb, I doubt I'll be back, however good a job they make of it and however good the ale is. Having said that, many of the regulars at the CPT are fine, there just seems to be a very unpleasant bunch who aren't.

Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I'd certainly welcome the toilets being > given a complete refurb. xxxxxx Never mind a complete refurb Jah, I'd welcome there being a Ladies with more than one cubicle - and something rather larger than the present set-up whereby if somebody is washing their hands nobody else can get to the aforesaid cubicle :)) Plus there's no provision for people in wheelchairs. They can get into the pub (via a portable ramp apparently which someone will bring out if you shout from the door loud enough) but once there they can't have a pee, which rather detracts from the enjoyment of a pint unless you've got an extremely strong bladder :)) Actually come to think of it, the bogs at the Actress are downstairs, what do disabled people do there? Is there another one upstairs I've never noticed?

I'm with First Direct (highly recommended btw), but I use HSBC when I need an actual physical bank :)
  5. Is there going to be another thread purge soon to increase capacity, or is this just a temporary glitch? Or is it just me? (Other sites seem to be at normal speed though).

Shame, as it was our local and we used to go there quite a bit. Adam, the previous manager, was extremely supportive of the Singaround and would never have let that happen. ETA: Was somewhat shoot-in-foot time for the CPT we felt, given that we were generally filling the room on what would have been a slow Sunday night for them.
  7. Don't know if this is helpful? Just had an email from MoneySavingExpert with a link to this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-ipad Haven't read it as I can't afford an ipad however cheap the deal :))

I think the in crowd that moderate are > far to quick to shoot down and reviews should be > new threads, google tells me when they were posted > and I don't want to be wasting my time going > through anything more than a month old. xxxxxxx Don't understand. Why are you googling, when there's a search function on the forum? Many old threads have been removed, as it happens. If you don't like the forum, why bother using it? I see you've only made three posts. Why not go elsewhere? "Never new, always bickering, never helpful"??? What threads have you been reading, FFS? I always thought a forum was supposed to be - er - a forum, for exchanging views. :-S ETA: I actually first came across this forum, which I didn't know existed, when I googled a local issue I was interested in.

As I said, > Dr. Khalek hasn't been there since July. Am I missing the point here? Quite likely :)

If the thread was started ages ago, you don't have to read the old posts, you can just read the new ones! I think it's much more of a pain to have several different threads covering the same subject.

I find counting change quite soothing, but then I'm time rich and cash poor :)

  13. I went for blood tests this morning, armed with a book as I thought I'd have to wait for ages. I got there at just after 8am and the place was empty. I got to go straight in. The staff were all saying it must be people still recovering from the holidays and loath to venture out! I had a woman who fits your description,, Peckham Rose, and she was extremely friendly and pleasant and it didn't hurt at all, she was very gentle. I think you must have been unlucky. ETA: I had intended to get there about 7.15am as they start doing the tests at 7.30am and I thought the earlier I was there the greatest chance of being first in the queue and not having to wait. However as usual I dilly dallyed about so got there much later than I intended - however luckily it didn't matter to me as I'm no longer working. Maybe if you phoned them they could tell you the best time to go to have the best chance of being seen quickly? But I'm sure it must change a bit from day to day ..... they were certainly expecting more people there this morning than - er - virtually nobody! Another two people turned up, one just after me and one as I was leaving, and they were also both seen straight away.

That's why I did several the same. But > thanks. > > Trevor xxxxxx If you click on "reply by private message" under the post you want to answer, you can send the same message to several different people without everybody else seeing it on the thread - it's the third option from the left on the "options" bar. Forums are a nightmare sometimes, they're all different in how they work.

Can't believe anything > they say. xxxxxxxx Having spent virtually the whole day updating the Goose website and still nowhere near finished, I would say they probably just haven't had time to update it. Not defending them, just saying that it's the kind of thing which probably isn't top of their admin people's list of priorities.
  17. What is Coin Star, does it just change small change, as it were? Because if so, I save up all mine until I've got zillions of pounds' worth and then take it to my bank in Lordship Lane who've always been happy to change it for notes provided I bag it up properly so they just have to weigh it. They've never charged me for doing that. If not, just ignore this post :))
  18. Would you not be better posting this on the existing thread about Dr Gupta?
  19. There's always loads of helicopters around East Dulwich :)
  20. I've PMed you a contact name and email address.
  21. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Waitrose don't have a single store within the SE > London postcode district, so they're certainly not > on every high street (not around these parts > anyway). xxxxxx Where did anybody say that they were on "every" high street? Obviously they are not :)
  22. Ah! A layby would be a good idea, to be able to drop people off at the station - is that what it would be for? It's always a pain having to try to stop near the station (illegally I guess) and shove people/luggage out of the car as quickly as possible so as not to hold up traffic .....
  23. johnhinton Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I don't enjoy shopping in > iceland or the coop, sainsburys or tescos or the > independent grocers and delis. xxxxxxxx What does Waitrose sell that you can't get in any of those places??? Or is it the shopping experience itself that you find better in Waitrose than anywhere else?? And if so, why? I'm genuinely interested :)
  24. woodrot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > one being finished on the rye at the minute xxxxxx Oh yeh thanks, different location, sorry - ED will be overrun with vets :)
  25. There's another recent thread about this on the forum somewhere .....
