the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How do we know NicktheSnick isnt an imposter? xxxxxx I know Nick. He isn't an imposter. He's the bar manager at the Ivy House, and was previously at Hoopers Bar. Why not come down and see John Otway at the Ivy House on Saturday 3 December, and check Nick out for yourself. Buy advance tickets online here! or over the bar at the Ivy House. Selling fast! ETA: Our first gig at the Ivy House back in September, with Wizz Jones, was excellent, and we are expecting this gig to be equally excellent :)

Iceland is very good value for a lot of things - (not the turkey twizzler kind of food that some people seem to assume is all it sells).. Unfortunately it's often more convenient to do one large shop in one place, eg S********s, even if it turns out more expensive, because they have more of the stuff I need to stock up on regularly.

Hope you're feeling better btw. -

I did a couple of years back. Can't remember the exact time, because we were at an event on the South Bank which carried on after the fireworks had finished. So far as I recall it was a bit of a nightmare. Had to walk to the Elephant to get a bus (because of road closures etc.) then had to walk from Camberwell. Didn't occur to me to get a train as you'd have to go to London Bridge first which is in the wrong direction.

Chener Books is (are?) very kindly donating some raffle prizes. If any other local businesses are reading this thread and would like to donate prizes (we will publicise you all on the forum and at the fundraiser day) please let me (or Monica) know - otherwise we may come and beg in person :) Does anybody fancy organising a (home made) cake stall?
-
The fundraiser day will be Sunday 22 January at DHFC (next to Sainsbury's). Probably from 2 - 9pm (come and go as you like once you've paid, children welcome). ?5, children under 12 free, and there will be a raffle too :) We are just sorting the bands, and we will try to arrange for food to be available. For more info watch this space! ETA: Confirmed so far are Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke, and the John McLean Band, all excellent local musicians who you may have seen either at the Goose Green Fair (part of the Dulwich Festival) or the Crystal Palace Road Street Party. Two spots down, five to go! :)-D

Spate of burglaries in East Dulwich
Sue replied to EastDulwichRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There was a spate of burglaries when I lived in Topsham, in Devon, over twenty years ago. They did a whole row of houses in one night, including mine. I was alone in the house and in bed at the time. I heard noises but luckily didn't go downstairs because I thought I was being paranoid. I didn't have much to take, but they took the TV and some money from a drawer. Other people had a lot more stolen. Anyway, my point is, burglaries have always happened, and not just in urban areas. It's horrible when it happens to you, but I'm not sure they are necessarily on the increase round here (unless somebody has the statistics to prove they are). -

Do we know there has actually been an increase, or is it just that more people come onto the ED Forum to tell us about them? -

OK, fine, I look forward to a countryside with no animals in it. Not. I think you have missed my point.

Potential Christmas event SE15 - any makers interested?
Sue replied to Kate Parkin's topic in The Lounge
There's always been a pre-Christmas craft fair in the hall next to the Irish shop in Lordship Lane, does anyone know if that will be there this year?
