Safety mesh is a totally different thing to some huge and hideous advertising billboard on two sides of a prominent building in East Dulwich's main street. As somebody already said, we're surrounded by enough f*****g advertising in public places already. And we don't as yet know how "temporary" it will be.
  2. It's quite exciting putting teabags and onion skins into a little brown bin :))
  3. Are we sure this is just going to be temporary? And that it will actually disappear once the refurbishment is completed? If so I'm less inclined to be (6) but I cynically suspect that once people have got used to it being there it could become a permanent feature .....
  4. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Do you mean the gents toilet Sue or are you > sticking with 'gents'? xxxxxxx Good point :)) Not wishing to upset any former customers of the Foresters, I'll go with the toilet option :))
  5. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You are right Moos - they should stick together. :)) Took me a while to get that, duh.
  6. cidered Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Foresters arms? is the bishop no more? xxxxxx The Bishop was previously called the Foresters Arms - and a very vile pub it was too :)) Unless you like the kind of place where you squelch over the squirly carpet and can smell the gents from wherever you're sitting :))
  7. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >> > Is it worse than scaffolding? > > I doubt it's a permanent fixture xxxxxxx Surely they wouldn't need planning permission if it was temporary. I guess they will make money out of it by renting the site. And yes, much much worse than scaffolding imo. It's illuminated, ffs (6) Will loom over Lordship Lane like a big looming thing.
  8. Pia has started a thread in the Trades section of the forum
  9. The person who runs Jeannie Avent in North Cross Road (corner of Lacon Road) may have their contact details, as I think the Skip Sisters rented it for a while around Christmas a while ago.
  10. They could be crab apples - some varieties are small and bright red. Do they look like this? BTW I had to throw all my hazelnuts away - none of them appeared to actually have any nuts inside :-S

I don't want a brown wheelie bin sitting outside all year in my tiny front garden just for the few weeks when I actually fill it. The fold-up bags plus smaller brown food waste box are much more convenient.
  12. I have an extra box instead of a blue wheely bin, but why oh why are the new blue bins not a less obtrusive colour? Why could they not be a darker blue,eg the blue the existing boxes are, which would have blended in a little better with the surroundings? My road is now a hideous mass of bright blue bins, all clearly visible as there is nowhere else to put them except our miniscule front gardens. I'm all in favour of recycling, but not the vile effect it is having on the visual environment.

  14. Aries Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Get over it!! It's all about catering for the > community, you want Waitrose etc, get on bus or > use your car and head off to Kensington or > Chelsea... xxxxxx Yes, well said, sadly some people seem to think the ED community consists only of people who can afford to shop at Waitrose.
  15. "Even if"??? Yeh it's weird how some bits of body hair can be ginger (or grey) and other parts not! ETA: Am I on the bramble jelly list, PGC? (Crosses fingers)
  16. Hey great pic :))
  17. Well you have PGC, as anybody who knows you will attest. Anyway, according to the midwife when my very beautiful granddaughters were born, it's not "ginger" or "red", it's "strawberry blonde" :) Have to own up, I got very short shrift from my daughter when I called the first one "gingernut", never made that mistake again :)) Been drinking wine? Not me :))
  18. :))

  22. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe I should have asked why are any parcels > misdelivered? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I guess because - as in any walk of life - some people are careless, tired or just plain incompetent, and make mistakes.
  23. Could you try contacting James Barber, who posts on this forum, to see if he could help? He's a councillor and might be able to give your Housing Officer a push to deal with this more effectively.
