Rubbish, innit. Dunno where this enclosed map with the red parallel lines is - I shall chase that up as well!

Well, this took over two months to come (after a chaser yesterday) but there are two documents on Tessa Jowell's website which are interesting (they're currently the first two on the page), though the letter from Geoff Koon appears to be just passing the buck, basically. Dear , Thank you for your email and I apologise for the delay in responding. I have placed a copy of a response that I received on my website. You can see this at: www.tessajowell.net/campaigns I do hope this is helpful and please do let me know if you feel I can be of further help in the future. With best wishes, Yours sincerely, Rt. Hon. Tessa Jowell MP

I don't read news stories which I can see from the headlines are going to upset me. Unless you are in a position to actually do something about these things, which is unlikely, and certainly you can't after the event, they just provide material to prey on your mind and make you disturbed and unhappy. Cruelty and anger and all the rest of it are part of the human condition, and the news media will always report this stuff because people find it more "interesting" (on the whole) than good news stories. These things have always happened, always will. But - mostly they don't. Let's be thankful for that.

We'll bear you in mind for a gig at the Goose, PGC :))

Of course I'm not keeping a tally, that would be completely pointless :) As if the whole of ED is reading this thread :) or could be bothered to post on it even if they were :)

That's not my point at all :) But yes, the aesthetic issue is something of a side issue - though not unimportant, less important than issues of health and safety

kristymac1 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And therein proves my point, for every person that > hates it, there'll be someone who likes it and 8 > more people who aren't fussed either way. xxxxx Erm, I don't think you can quote any such figures unless you've actually done a proper survey :)

May cancel me out, but you aren't 10% of the ED population and neither am I :)

I stand corrected and bow my head in shame :-$ :)

Wishing Well sounds good, or Clockhouse or Old Nun's Head. Woodhouse a bit of a trek but I guess not if you live at that end :) Market Porter more of a day trip :))

I don't want them over anyone's house at 4.30am! I also don't want to keep rehashing the same points as have been made earlier on the thread, but it's a long long thread to trawl through :-$

lozzyloz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What would you have the government do? > > It seems to me that any viable alternatives will > only come with future improvements in technology > related to energy and transportation. xxxxx Well, may be too late by then, but hey, that's a rather bigger issue than too many planes flying low over my house at 4.30am and disturbing my sleep.

SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but Sue - what is it exactly you are going to > say? > > I don't want these flights - give them to someone > else? xxxxxx My understanding is that they are coming in a lot lower than they used to and that that is part of the reason for the excessive noise. I think there are a lot of issues involved, both on a local (nimby) level and also far wider, and one of them is what the government is doing or intends to do about the increasing use of air travel at a time when climate change would seem to be the world's main priority.

I've also been labouring under the delusion that it was just a few planes going round in circles over East Dulwich :)) Right, I'm going to chase Tessa Jowell for a proper reply to my email .....

I've just looked up the Theakstons web page and it certainly looks as if their ale is brewed in Masham, same as it ever was (Talking Heads) :)
