There are sometimes comments made on the forum which are bordering on racist. Sometimes they're challenged, sometimes they're not. I'm sure in most cases they aren't deliberate, but just unthinking. I don't think it's helpful to start talking about Wiki definitions of racism, and I don't think it's helpful to suggest that no forum users are racist, just as it isn't helpful to suggest that the whole forum is racist. Great post, candj

Suspicious looking man...(Ferris Road, February 20th)

OK, I had a look through the window on my way home tonight. Really disappointing. There seems to be hardly any variety of shoes in the whole shop (forgive my grammar, I'm well into a bottle of Green and Blue wine after a 4am start this morning, AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH). I had high expectations that this would be my shoe nirvana. But, er, not. Well, there was one pair in the window I liked the colour of (grammar), otherwise, zilch. Another day trip to Brighton then to stock up on shoes :-S

Too pissed to go and consult the book (been up since 4am, AAAARRRGGGHHHH) but seriously, fascinating stuff.

Don't think you can speak for anybody apart from yourself unless you've asked "most drivers and pedestrians" what they think! Flowers certainly don't make me pay more attention to the road, though I consider myself a reasonably careful driver anyway, and I would have thought the kind of driver who was likely to have an accident due to carelessness wouldn't be affected by flowers.

It was brought up at an > interview yesterday and I didn?t have an answer > and she said if I get an interview for the role > she is putting me forward for then I MUST have an > answer if they ask me, xxxxx You have to say something which you put forward to them as a weakness, and which could be described as a weakness maybe, but which could also be interpreted as a strength. So for example "Well, I tend to have high expectations of myself and other people, so I can get a bit annoyed with someone who doesn't meet deadlines even when they've been reminded." That's not a very good example, and you'd have to tailor it to yourself, but you see the principle. I've used it in the past and got the job :))

I'm still totally bemused as to how they can be opening a store when they've been taken over by the Co-op. :-$

:))I thought it was something like jolie a pied. My rusty French not being up to the translation, I have unilaterally translated it as "hot to trot". :) Edited to say: "Pretty to foot" can't be right, so it must be some expression I know not of :) Edited again to say: That's trotting in the pigs' trotter sense, of course, just in case anybody thought I meant anything else :))
