Does this not mean there could be a leak between your house and the meter? Have you phoned Thames Water to ask what the possible causes are and if they will be coming to investigate? I had a leak in my house which I had no idea was there, btw. I found out about it on Christmas Day when water came through my kitchen ceiling. A concealed cistern had been slowly leaking water through a small crack in a connection, probably for months, onto my bathroom floor behind a panel, where it could not be seen.

Southwark Council crowdfunding for green projects
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry I don't understand? You do what? The government has greatly cut council funding. Therefore in order to try to continue local public services, councils have to get their money from somewhere, either by increasing council tax or by initiatives like this one. Also, the Tories cut income tax rates decades ago in order to get elected, and no party is now going to put them back up again, with the effects on such things as the NHS and schools which we can see all around us. The whole infrastructure of this country is falling apart. -

Which is the best curry restaurant on Lordship Lane?

Who was it, then? Don't keep us all in suspense 😂 -
The cat I was referring to was lost from Landcroft Road, not Dunstan's Road??? That's in reply to the vet, not you, Mystic Mog! The owner of the Landcroft Road cat Millie said she was chipped, but possibly may not realise the chip is not up to date? Also, they are both girls. I texted Millie's owner re the vet's post, but had no reply.

I think there are physio departments in several locations. I don't know what the difference is. I've been to Tessa Jowell, but also Shakespeare Road, plus Willowfield for hand therapy. Possibly others which I've forgotten. One was associated with my GP in some way - I got an appointment the day after I phoned 😮

That's great! But I'm guessing you must have quite large gardens if there are two large composters?

"What happens to the earth" is happening right now, and things are going to get very bad indeed long before the 200 years you quote. It is because many many individuals and organisations have thought in the past that the environment was "not their concern" that we are in the state we are in. But hey ho. Here's a constructive suggestion. Why don't neighbours share a brown bin and each contribute to the cost? Or take it in turns to take everybody's garden waste to the recycling centre off the Old Kent Road? Oh, and if the council was going to only collect from the blue bins once a month, that would mean a great many people were not doing their recycling, surely? I despair.

North Cross Road -
I agree. I was surprised when I saw the menu, for the same reason.

Don't know why this was moved to the lounge? I would have thought it was a topic of local interest?

Putting compostable material in the green bin is not exactly environmentally friendly, is it? And the council is not "greedy". It has services to provide which possibly you and your family might need some day, and like other local councils, it has had its funding cut by the Tories, so it has to bring in money from somewhere.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/health-matters-air-pollution/health-matters-air-pollution This was some time ago. There has been more recent research demonstrating the links between pollution, poor health and life expectancy. But never mind, cutting one's journey time by ten minutes is much more important 🙄 Although, I also recognise the downsides of LTNs to the people living in the roads where the traffic is directed to, grammar. And councils have had their money cut by so much, you really can't blame them for finding other sources of income to fund essential services.

The lease expires September 2025????? So in only around 18 months' time ?????

That's a massive space for a pub that isn't a Spoons! Do you know what pubco (?) it is? I'm guessing probably a chain rather than an independent, but I would dearly love to be wrong.

Also the bus stop outside the Post Office was closed yesterday due to the works. I don't know if it still is, but I imagine so. It does clearly say it is closed, but I stupidly didn't notice until I had stood there for some time, so I'm just posting this in case it might save someone else a pointless wait!

Forest Hill Road GP - better alternative please
Sue replied to EDmummy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That is absolutely awful. Can you get a phone appointment to speak to the GP? I'd be absolutely furious if that was me, not to mention extremely worried. Hoping for a good outcome for you after what must be a really stressful time.
