To be fair, not all politicians are liars. It just sometimes seems that way.

😡 This makes me very angry. And sad My partner and I (The Goose Is Out!) ran a fundraising gig to help raise money to build the physic garden, and it had a particular place in our hearts. A lot of people put a lot of love, time and effort into building and maintaining that garden. I completely agree with heart block's post about who deserves a community garden more. What have Southwark Council got to say about their priorities here? If anything 😡

Wouldn't the libraries know which it is?

I see she does acupuncture, but it seems to be for physio type problems?
-
Has anyone had acupuncture locally with somebody they can unreservedly recommend?
-
Well that would put a great many people out of a job, wouldn't it, quite apart from any other consideration 🙄

Looking for a place that sells moong/mung beans
Sue replied to Froglander's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You can get them online. Eg Asda apparently have them at 2kg for £2.50 Locally, Khan's in Peckham will almost certainly be cheaper than SMBS, and probably have more choice. -
Local station ticket office survey - Labour Party
Sue replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
🤣 But I was quite happy to receive updates about this particular issue, just not other stuff (which I imagine would have included asking for donations). -
I got a flyer through the door, as I imagine most people did, with a QR code etc to complete a local Labour Party survey on the closure of the station ticket office. All was fine until I got right to the end, where there is no way to submit the survey without opting in to receive communications from the Labour Party, including by phone, even if you are registered with the Telephone Preference Service. To be clear, that is apparently any communication, not just communications about this specific issue. It says you can opt out in future - but you can't opt out at this point. I think this is really sneaky. I am no longer a member of the Labour Party, and whilst I think Helen Hayes is an excellent and committed constituency MP, I opted out of communications from her at the same time as I left the Labour Party. The reason I didn't reply by post was because I thought it would still be sitting in the sorting office in a year's time. However I have just looked at the form and I see that in very tiny font at the bottom it says exactly the same thing about opting in. I have made my feelings known in the comments section of the survey, but I wonder what other people think about this?

I couldn't delete the emoji when editing the quoted post above. Not sure if that's a forum glitch or my own ineptitude. I think unfortunately some people think about their gardens in complete isolation from any other context apart from their own convenience and preferences 😭

I have a Miele washing machine which I'm very happy with, but I did get it at a good price when it was on offer. No bleeping, and it has a twenty minute wash at 40 degrees which is fine for most things, but lots of other programmes plus you can give things an extra spin if you want to save on drying time. It has never gone wrong (I'm probably tempting fate by saying that!) I would never use John Lewis again for electrical goods (or laptops). It would take too long to describe all the reasons why, but I have given them too many chances now, and never never again. For my fridge freezer I checked out the models physically in John Lewis, but then bought from AO. And no I didn't think that was unfair of me, because the customer service I got from John Lewis on that occasion also was abysmal 😡

I have tried three practices in the three decades I've lived here, and I've found my current one (The Gardens) to be the best of the three. However obviously you need to be in the catchment area of the practice you would ideally like to move to. Is there any reason why you won't name the practice you are moving from? It might be helpful for other people?

Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
Sue replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
That's a bit weird, because there isn't an "East Dulwich Delivery Office" any more, is there? Items are certainly delivered (or not) to East Dulwich, but the actual Delivery Office is in Peckham! -

The last councillor who posted on here was given a very hard time by some other members of the forum, so I'm not surprised if he gave up trying to help. It must be a hard enough job without that. -

Sod's law. Yesterday I got a refund from Amazon. Today the item arrived (supposedly 24 hour tracked, posted in August), along with the eBay book for which I have already had a refund, and another book which I had completely forgotten I had ordered (also in August). They must be slowly getting through the backlog .... -
Chern Thai Cafe On Grove Vale - Revised Opening Hours
Sue replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We went here quite early tonight (6.30). We did book, just in case, but it wasn't necessary (though it was quite full by the time we left). The food was very tasty, with fresh veg. Service was friendly and welcoming. We will be back, and work our way through the menu! -

Does she take bookings, or is it first come first served? -
Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay

The trouble is, a lot of organisations insist on using the post. I can understand that bank cards etc have to be physically delivered, but when it is purely information, surely they could email or text it, or send a secure message via their website, or some other way? When I have told people that if they insist on using the post I may not get it for months, or at all, they just ignore me. I know it isn't just this area that is having such terrible delays, even with tracked items, so why hasn't that sunk in with the organisations sending out important and time critical information? And as for parcels and packets, I have just received refunds from both Amazon and eBay for items which haven't arrived. But I'd rather have had the effing items in the first place. The eBay one was a secondhand book which I've now got to seek out again and hope it arrives within the next year or so 😡 -
The CPT used to be our local. I still miss it. The Castle is in some ways similar though! The other two you suggest are a bus ride away (depending on where you live, obviously!)

Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
Sue replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I thought I was so careful, and in a moment of distraction I didn't realise a text was spam and clicked on a link on a text, supposedly from Royal Mail telling me they couldn't deliver an item due to an incomplete address. Luckily I belatedly smelled a rat - some of the wording should have warned me before - and I deleted all the personal information I was about to send off. The thing is, some of that info was already in there, including my phone number (well I suppose they had to have had that, in order to text me, but that didn't occur to me at first). Because I'm waiting for so much stuff, I hadn't bothered to check if the tracking reference was genuine. Screenshots attached. Be careful out there, people. Just read it again, and I can't believe I was so stupid (and just thankful I wasn't even more stupid 🙄) -
Humdinger appears to have returned under another name. Pathetic. Edited: Sorted. Thank you admin x

Continuing on this thread to save starting another one. So I was over a week in bed, then I felt better and was out and about for a few days. Then yesterday I suddenly felt rubbish again, really tired and ill and couldn't go to a quite important meeting in the evening. I'm not looking for sympathy, I just wonder whether anybody else has had something similar lately? And if so how long it lasted? I'm assuming there isn't anything much I can do about it except rest. Edit: I'm not sure why the ever-charming Humdinger finds my (and others' non funny posts) so amusing. They must lead a very sad life. (admin edit - removed)

Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay
Sue replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am waiting for a number of things which were posted weeks ago. For some of them I have tracking numbers. According to the tracking, one item was collected from the sender on 24 August and delivery has not yet been attempted. FFS. Unless I've missed it, there now seems to be no way to complain to Royal Mail except by phoning. I phoned the other day and got a recorded message saying there was a sixty minute wait 😮 so I didn't bother. I spoke to our postie yesterday and he said there was a backlog and that my things should be delivered "later today" (ie yesterday). Obviously they weren't. I have no idea if he genuinely believed that. I don't know why my previous post was so amusing, but I am now going to email Helen Hayes, because the situation is appalling. And I will copy in the CEO of Royal Mail, if I can find the correct email address which I think someone posted on here once. Yes, and all these problems started with the privatisation.
