  1. Surely you are more likely to trace these people by contacting Amazon than by posting on here? I presume Amazon will have email addresses for them?
  2. Roadworks between the Horniman and Forest Hill station were causing huge traffic jams last week. Does anyone know if they are still there? ETA: In case anyone else wants to know - they aren't!
  3. Argos in the big Sainsbury's will take them even if you didn't buy them there. At least, they were doing that last year (took mine), maybe check first?
  4. I hope I am not speaking too soon, but my post seems to have returned to virtually normal 😮 Tracked items are arriving on time, and I seem to be receiving up to date copies of magazines etc. I'm not aware of anything I'm missing which I should have had (though obviously I only know about things I'm expecting). Anyone else? Have they finally cleared the backlog?
  5. Yes. I'm one of the elderly people 😭
  6. How do you all recognise these people? I don't even recognise people I know 🤣
  7. I did. The one in Clapham Junction sounds like a very small shop for commuters? Could you explain the difference between a Poundland shop and a Poundland local? As far as I can see, the East Dulwich one is being described as a local? But isn't a local essentially a corner shop? That space on Lordship Lane seems quite large. Is the Poundland in Peckham a local? Do you have a link to a relevant article? I can't find anything giving useful information. I quite like Poundland. I have a lovely wren ornament which I bought there several Christmases back. It has a crown - king of birds ❤️ It never got put back into my Christmas box I would rather have had a Lidl, though .....
  8. Does anyone know if the swimming pool water is now heated again? There was a fault, and last week it was cold (and the week before the pool was closed due to the fault). I tried phoning but nobody answered. ETA: Got through. The water is still cold. They are waiting for a part from abroad so goodness knows when it will be warm again 😭
  9. You could try posting in the 'Wanted' section on here? Somebody might be glad to have an old metal container taken off their hands?
  10. Try metal containers? They will chew through anything else. Metal dustbins or incinerators (block up the hole with wire or something?) Or else somehow ratproof the whole shed, but that might prove rather more difficult. Or put something strong smelling near the birdfood so the rats and the fluffy tailed ones can't smell the birdfood?
  11. Christian at Netquest in Pellatt Road could do that for you.
  12. The shoe repairer near the station is called Merrifields - connected?
  13. This has been going on round here every so often for years. Decades, in fact. Usually it's stuff like really poor quality tea towels. Thirty (😮😮😮) years ago there were also people knocking on doors hawking truly terrible paintings. I don't think they were the same lot as the "ex offenders".
  14. That's a very heartwarming post. So nice to read something positive on here! ❤️
  15. It's also an easy walk to Moorgate from London Bridge if you don't want to take the tube, and probably quicker.
  16. I doubt these menus are being delivered by Royal Mail! Yes they are, yesterday we had a roofers leaflet delivered with our post by our regular postman. Royal Mail is paid by some businesses to deliver flyers, but I think you will find that the vast majority of flyers through your door are not delivered by Royal Mail.
  17. I doubt these menus are being delivered by Royal Mail!
  18. Helen Hayes was, and still is, our MP, not a councillor. She was extremely active in trying to get Royal Mail to withdraw its plans to close the ED sorting office, including coming to a demonstration outside it (which a mere handful of local people turned up to, such was the lack of interest in the matter at the time, despite the obvious consequences of the closure). Where on earth have you got your bizarre information from?

This seems to have resolved itself again now, fingers crossed!

  21. I send out several 2nd class items every day which are second class tracked. They are getting delivery quickly. Some even arrive next day, which is amazing. RM are prioritising tracked items as the sender can claim compensation in some cases after 10 working days. Things like Christmas cards have no priority whatsoever so are taking 3 to 4 weeks to get delivered. Plus a lot depends on the local delivery office. The Peckham D.O. is a disaster area. If it's important, send it tracked As already said, it's items coming INTO East Dulwich which are the problem, including tracked items. My 24 hour tracked medication finally arrived, but in the meantime I had to get another prescription from my GP and collect it from the pharmacy, so now I have two lots 🙄 Yesterday I got the Private Eye from the beginning of December 🙄 Other areas of the country are also having problems. A friend's sister works as a postie in Northampton, and apparently they can't even get into the sorting office because of the mountains of unsorted post.
  22. Also see this thread (the link goes to the page with the video on it): /viewtopic.php?t=2284594&start=60
  23. That's appalling. Do they belong to some professional association you could complain to?
  24. I had a load of Christmas cards yesterday, (including one which normally arrives in November 😂) two packages and some financial stuff. Haven't had a Private Eye for weeks, though. Bit pointless subscribing when it's so out of date when it arrives (if it ever does).
