  1. Or eat whole fruits. At least then you get the fibre. Assuming they aren't giving you the pulp as well in their juices
  2. From Facebook: Pearspring is Closing We are incredibly sad to announce that after 5 busy years helping our amazing customers with all things houseplant, we've made the very difficult decision that now is the right time to bring the final curtain down on Pearspring. The reasons for closing are numerous. It goes without saying that trading conditions since 2020 have been incredibly difficult. Brexit has impacted heavily on the operational side of the business - we now have to ‘import’ many of our plants and pots from the EU, pushing up prices and introducing checks and increased charges associated with being an importer; rising product prices have resulted in ever smaller margins as we try to keep our prices at levels we personally would be happy to pay - not to mention all of the considerable increases in our business costs just to keep the doors open each day. All of which (and a few other factors) have unfortunately made the business a much less enjoyable and much more stressful proposition, particularly since the start of 2022. Ultimately though, after 5 years solely focusing on working in and running the business, we feel now is the time to prioritise personal health, happiness and work life balance over the often all consuming aspects of running a small business. We hope you can understand - but sometimes you have to put yourself first, have a rest and refocus one's priorities in life. We can’t tell you how much we have loved being part of thriving Lordship Lane, and we will look back with immense pride on the business that we have built since 2017. We want to thank our wonderful team (past and present), who have really helped bring the ethos of Pearspring to life on a day-to-day basis. Finally none of it would have been possible without our incredible customers, and we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It goes without saying that we will miss you, and we hope to see you one last time before the end of September. ⏳️ We will be trading until 4pm on Sunday 25th September 2022 ⌛️ ⚠️ Anyone with gift cards - if you can please aim to use these by 25.09.2022 ⚠️
  3. What is it? I've never heard of it. Do you have a link?
  4. Well the prices are certainly cheap, but one wonders why. What is the quality of their ingredients, and how much do they pay their staff?
  5. We have found Millennium on Grove Vale consistently good for deliveries. Nothing out of the ordinary as far as the actual menu goes, but we have never had a disappointing meal from there.
  6. Which is the one in Penge, Malumbu? Is that the very small one with the tea shop which has twee gifts and advertises in SE22 mag? I went there once. They did have good plants, as in well selected, but not very many of them if memory serves.
  7. Thanks for this, I've never been there, I will check it out!
  8. Strange their website makes no mention of it at all!
  9. Not strictly East Dulwich, but must be our nearest garden centre now, as our local ones closed years ago ? Very sad to hear that it's closing by the end of September. There's nothing on their website, but https://mailchi.mp/9be9512ba80d/important-announcement-closure-of-garden-centre

    Gas bill

Can you not just contact the energy company and ask for the reason? On the face of it, that is a ridiculously high bill, so it would seem that something is wrong somewhere, as per the various suggestions above, but surely your first port of call would be the company who issued the bill?
  11. Only just seen this. Thanks!

    Forum Updates

Thanks for all your hard work on this, Joe!
  13. Excellent, I will go and look at the veg and say hello!
  14. We have tried them all over the decades, and we currently like Mirash, just off the roundabout on the way to the station. Their mains are very good, however sadly the Sunday buffet is not great, especially if you don't eat meat. It's often very quiet, which is sad, but it's off the main drag so presumably overlooked and less likely to get passing trade.
  15. Ah sorry Sue, it has been popular which is great as these youngsters are doing good work up there; I think they are keeping a waiting list so it might be worth emailing them. Also, we would encourage anyone passing by to say hello and take a look at the skate park and also the kitchen garden they have created. Thanks, I will. I didn't know they had a kitchen garden there, that's brilliant! Where abouts is it? Can you visit? My allotment is opposite the skate park (next to the tennis club)!
  16. Building work is bound to be noisy. That noise obviously can't be helped. What the builders do have control over is the blaring out of their radios 😡 and to a lesser extent shouting to each other (I can see that the shouting may often be necessary). When neighbours are working at home, or otherwise at home during the day, constant loud radio noise - on top of the banging and drilling - which you can hear both inside your house and when trying to sit quietly in your garden is a nightmare 😭
  17. You are objecting to building work being done because people want to repair or improve their houses?
  18. Sadly all tickets are sold out, as I would love to have gone and your post was the first I had heard of it.
  19. Wondering who is responsible for maintaining these notice boards? The one in North Cross Road has been vandalised, and some of them have been flyposted. Would be better if they were taken down altogether than left in this state, surely?
  20. Both The Castle and the White Horse in Peckham used to have pool (?) tables, don't know if they still have.
  21. I have only just noticed that the original post was from 2006, so the Sunday lunch get together for ten people was SIXTEEN YEARS AGO 🤣 How (and why?) has somebody resurrected a sixteen year old post?!
  22. Another one. https://www.standard.co.uk/homesandproperty/where-to-live/guide-to-dulwich-village-boris-johnson-home-b1018866.html
  23. I'm sure I must have missed something here, but why is it necessary to have a bus connection between East and North Dulwich stations? They are on the same train line, aren't they?
  24. I thought that was in Herne Hill? ETA: Sorry, posted before I had read the rest of the thread.
