  1. had no problems with it.
  2. solicitors cost money. What are you thinking is wrong with the fixed penalty notices? Zena Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes twice in one day, stupidly.
  3. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/recycling/recycling-centres/reuse-and-recycling-centre?chapter=5 There's a list of stuff they recycle there some of which they also repair. I'm slowly accumulating old computers but one is always instructed to take all personal stuff off them. Anyone know how this is done?
  4. This is an assault with a dangerous weapon. Causing actual bodily harm. The police should be investigating it.
  5. Cling film and other bits of soft plastic can be recycled at the Co-op. From the picture this includes crisp packets and similar soft objects. What about till receipts Renata? The rules on these seem to vary from place to place. Does anyone know how to recycle CDs -- used, battered, useless ones of course?
  6. I think you have to ask for them. It's a one-way street. Once installed you cannot ask for them to be removed but they cannot be installed against your wishes.
  7. Is there a local business/charity etc who does this? I'm trying to tidy up after a hoarder and I'm finding a lot of odd stuff.
  8. There is no simple rule-of-thumb to decide whether a vehicle is ULEZ compliant or not. It depends on the type of fuel it uses, the year of registration and the make. Check here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/ulez-vrm-checker
  9. Maybe if we think about what worked well while Rye Lane was closed? I would say that it was dominated by pedestrians ( a good thing IMO) and delivery lorries were successfully kept out after about 10am. There was a traffic short-cut Bournemouth/rye Lane /Choumert which brought private cars down the Lane and that was closed, improving safety for all. Bus travel around the Lane (ie using Consort Road) was faster IMO. If you weren't going to Rye Lane, your journey was considerably speeded up. My heart used to sink as the bus approached Rye Lane and the rise again as I realised we would go around it. That's a selfish thought but nevertheless a benefit for people not going to Rye Lane itself. If we could keep some of those benefits (perhaps not the buses being quicker and more reliable) then that would be nice
  10. Does the ridgeback come in black and brown -- if so there were two of them under very poor control in Nunhead Cemetery today.
  11. My Brompton was stolen the first time I left it outside. You get very fond of a bike so my condolences. Afterwards (ie too late) I googled "how to lock up a Brompton outside" and the basic answer is "don't" Natty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > word of warning to bike owners. The signs said it was funded by the EU to enable social distancing
  13. I think this is the Government's view of the "shortages" as Grant Shapps just said ie there are no real shortages. So, in their view, you don't need a solution because there is no real problem. 10,000 EU lorry drivers who probably won't come, won't fix the petrol supply but (in their view) that doesn't matter because there's nothing to fix. The problem is perception so fix the perception with some headlines and the "problem" will be over. However, there is a real underlying problem which the supply chain companies have been going on about for months now ie a shortage of workers in agriculture, hospitality, logistics, the NHS and caring generally. Be interesting to see what happens next.
  14. that link doesn't work for me
  15. Quite a lot of people live in flats where they are forbidden to take bikes inside under the lease. Someone who books a space in a cycle hangar pays for a year. If they then move away the space appears, and in fact is, vacant but Cyclehoop cannot let it to someone else because it is already contracted to the original person. Maybe returning un-used portions of the initial year's payment would free up the space for re-letting. It might be an administrative problem for Cyclehoop who wouldn't gain financially from it. The sums of money involved would be quite small so people moving away might not bother to reclaim it.
  16. Dial directly to Apcoa on 0207 708 8587 They will clear the right of way -- and also the path for emergency vehicles, as you say
  17. Peckham Rye West open again. Buses running normally
  18. This is a consultation on making the North Peckham estate safer for cyclists and pedestrians. It includes the Lyndhurst Way junction with Kelly Ave. This would be a good place to highlight how dangerous it is for cyclists and press for a traffic light on Kelly Avenue to create a safer crossing. Advance release would be nice on both sides too. Probably down to TfL to arrange but pressing the council can only help. https://consultations.southwark.gov.uk/environment-leisure/north-peckham-healthy-streets-2021/ closing date Sept 24th so please, do it sooner rather than later
  19. A straight across phase of the lights ie Lyndhurst Way to Kelly Ave was planned possibly 10 years ago but never turns up. I would not do Lyndhurst Way with kids-- the narrowed crossings which help kids going to school, are dangerous for anyone without the courage and experience to hold the lane. Maybe just use the crossing at the north end of Rye Lane -- you could turn along Jocelyn St behind the Pulse and access Sumner Road that way. That's a safe approach to Burgess Park without the courting couples, shopping trolleys and hilly bits of the canal path. It would be road experience for kids without real danger.
  20. Possibly caused by different funding streams. Charter via government academy funding and DKH via the local authority. So no one thinking about how many places are needed and planning for them. loads of EU people have gone home because of Brexit etc
  21. Put it on the Bike Register and buy a kit to mark it. They check there when they find a load of stolen bikes.
  22. Someone asked about El Vermut. It opened just before the pandemic closed everything. The people are lovely, they seem to have kept going ongood cheese , bread and wine.I would encourage anyone to drop in and see for themselves.

  24. The council cannot ignore the Right to Buy. Tenants can buy property at a significant discount after three years residence with a public landlord. https://www.gov.uk/right-to-buy-buying-your-council-home A homeless person in priority need ie with learning or physical difficulties or children MUST be housed by the council if they are homeless. The prime generator of homelessness is private tenancies coming to an end. The landlord does not need a reason to end it though there is a process. Result: lots of people in expensive temporary accommodation while they wait for a public sector home (council or housing association).
  25. what Tilt said ?you? for a formal appeal after > the Notice to Owner is issued is the registered > keeper at DVLA so if it?s a hire company or > company car that won?t be you the driver. > The driver is the person responsible so if that person was driving a hire or company car, then the penalty will be delayed by the detour via the hire company. It will still be payable. This couple thought they were being clever by switching the driver https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16866127.
