  1. https://www.railengineer.co.uk/crowds-capacity-and-clapham-junction/ Re PR Station has 7 million passengers per year Clapham junction has 430,000 passengers a day. I'm in favour of two-way buses with wider pavements to slow the buses down.
  2. Virgin is telling me that if i cannot connect, to turn off my modem for 60 seconds and then try again. I've only just got that mail. I was warned about upgrading and conseqential problems on the 18th but I was going away then and didn't care. I came back today. So (if I had been here) I may have had problems from the 18th to now
  3. After Covid, lockdown and other mishaps, Community Speedwatch is staggering back on the road. There's a new guy in charge from the Met called Christopher Billington christopher.billington2@met.police.uk. He's trying to get in touch with all the regular volunteers and find some new ones. I wrote this https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/ blog post on Speedwatch a long time ago now but it gives you an idea. If you know a particularly dangerous spot then let Mr Billington know and he will check it out and (if he agrees it's dangerous) then he'll organise a Speedwatch session there. To volunteer, mail him (see above) with details of your wishes and availability. Give it a try. It's fun. For more det ails DM me or text 07543 842160
  4. There's a big one on Queens Road quite close to central Peckham. It's got a front office where you can walk in and report ask after lost belongings etc
  5. Cafe G on Peckham Rye has air conditioning
  6. The Plough junction is open. The temporary lights still there but the roads are open. No sign of police
  7. Is it closed at the Plough? Is the crossing still open from Barry Road?
  8. I'm told the Met want to restart CRW (AKA Speedwatch) but they can't access the database of volunteers. I don't know why this is. So, to carry on being involved (or get involved for the first time) please email Donna.M.Allan@met.police.uk and Christopher.Billington2@met.police.uk. Tell them it's OK to use your email address for CRW. Sally

I'm not sure how much input the council has over the Harris academy in Peckham. It describes itself as "an education charity run by teachers" and has 31 schools in London and Essex https://www.harrisfederation.org.uk/80/welcome-from-the-chief-executive
  12. https://get-information-schools.service.gov.uk/Establishments/Establishment/Details/100851 Southwark Obviously a Catholic school (primary) Large, very desirable building in dreadful spot.
  13. Does your mate have any tips for putting off cats which are using his garden as a litter tray? Perhaps between the foxes and the wee he doesn't have this problem?
  14. Babies are about the same size as a buck rabbit with less ability to defend themselves. So be careful etc
  15. I feed birds (squirrel-proof feeder) and squirrels eat the bird-rejected seed off the ground. This morning a grey squirrel was leaping in short but high leaps persistently around the back garden and appeared to be trying to catch something very mobile but too small for me to see from a distance of about 15'. The jumps were very like a cat I saw trying to catch a mouse. Trying to catch an insect? Anyone know or seen this behaviour?
  16. St Saviours and St Olaves CofE secondary school uses the field and has refused attempts to buy the lease. There is also a St Olaves https://www.saintolaves.net/# in Orpington. The history of the school https://www.saintolaves.net/21/history-of-the-school page sets out the relationship between the two schools
  17. Or B&B Glazing in Gibbon Road, Nunhead

  21. who owns the freehold? Both of you? Just the people downstairs (because they own the land) or a third party? To whom do you pay ground rent?
  22. " campaigning" is covered by the laws on election literature, which, by law, must contain lots of detail about the originator. Full details here: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/imprints-election-campaign-material

Conceiveably parking offences or similar in Lambeth. Attempts to remove car to pay the debt met with threats of violence, therefore police involvement
