EDF Drinks - Friday 11th February 2011 @ Liquorish
katie1997 replied to Weegee's topic in The Lounge
nice one weeeeeeeeeeeegeeeeeeeeeeeee, you're a star for arranging this. :)-D -
PS the Earth has always been shifting on its axis* (axial wobble) and not just for 3,000 years as stated in that link :)) * a clever bloke called Milankovitch wrote all about these cycles before Mystic Meg came along.

No wonder I didn't make that important career break-through that I was anticipating this week. Instead, I should have been wearing the lucky colour red and expecting someone from my past (with the initial 'M') to come back into my life. Damn.
-
Yes I have had an accident - I remember it vividly. I was 17 and perfectly able to drive (although officially a learner) when my idiot fusspot stepfather who was sitting in the passenger seat of our estate car barked instructions on how to parallel park, making me lose all concentration and trashing the indicator lights of the car in front as a result. Naturally I felt that it was all his fault except I was the one who had to pay for it (6)
-
So naturally I can park anything, including a tank. I just stop when I hit the kerb or another car. Simple, really.
-
That was all (partly) a big fat lie btw. Anyway, I'm a bloke pretending to be a woman.

No one can drive as well as me. I passed my test first time and then passed the advanced driving test with flying colours. Everyone else on the road - apart from me - is simply rubbish at driving. But I can't park anything larger than a Fiat 500.

I agree with you David. This thread and the BBC horizon one are perfect examples of this. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion and its a public forum blah blah but its gets really tiresome when an opinion/argument is posted ad nauseum on absolutely everything. Don't even mention the poor old Drawing room. Just saying like. The 'hide' function is good but by its very nature, distorts the conversation flow on a thread.

You'll def be missed, your posts are brilliant and you always start good threads. Even this cheerio thread is interesting :) Enjoy your break and hope you do come back soon, I can't think of many who provide a refreshingly individual view against some of the socialist worker type cr@p on here. That's my opinion anyway. Cheerio for now.

Think of the poppadom prices. -
Yay! the B52s and a happy Friday thread. A relatively quiet 176 - check. A glass of wine with my name on it at a local ED hostelry - check. Probably the beginning of the end of my 'healthy' NY aspirations - check. Who cares? I've finished work and its the weekend feeling - check. Must stop saying check. :)-D

Not forgetting our canine friends... :))

I'd like to go somewhere that dishes out freebies, say, for example, pens with the curry house logo on them. Business cards. Free 'shots'. That sort of thing. Thursdays are good. -
Or thieves. Is that the time?

So, I'm not convinced that pop tarts are the best substance to use to foil burglars. Think about it.

I didn't mention deodorant. Okay.

James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How do people feel about a Waitrose or M&S TYPE > food store on Lordship Lane - do we want one or > not? Thanks for seeking views on here, I'd like to add a resounding no (for same reasons given by others previously). For all those who don't think that supermarkets affect smaller, independent shops, I disagree wholeheartedly. I used to live in a small market town and within a decade, there remains only one (excellent) butcher and bakery on the high street. The other independent bakeries, fishmonger and greengrocer all closed down and I feel that the opening of an M&S directly on the high street (mainly food with a tiny clothes section) contributed towards that. The Tesco nearby (but not immediately on the high street) always did good service for the people that would shop there anyway regardless of independents. The high street now consists of all the big coffee shop chains, Greggs Bakery and charity shops and has lost most, if not all, of its previous character as well as local businesses. Instead of a local greengrocers, we then had the "choice" of out of season asparagus, green beans and so on from as far afield as Kenya and Peru. > I feel it would help the area having an anchor > type food store BUT can see it making Lordship > Lane busier and increasing parking pressures. In what way do you feel it would help the area? I know its not your term but 'aspirational supermarket' made me cringe.

All good stuff especially the note to the tooth fairy and the injured tone of rightful impatience :)
