  1. I didn't mention deodorant. Okay.

Thanks for seeking views on here, I'd like to add a resounding no (for same reasons given by others previously). For all those who don't think that supermarkets affect smaller, independent shops, I disagree wholeheartedly. I used to live in a small market town and within a decade, there remains only one (excellent) butcher and bakery on the high street. The other independent bakeries, fishmonger and greengrocer all closed down and I feel that the opening of an M&S directly on the high street (mainly food with a tiny clothes section) contributed towards that. The Tesco nearby (but not immediately on the high street) always did good service for the people that would shop there anyway regardless of independents. The high street now consists of all the big coffee shop chains, Greggs Bakery and charity shops and has lost most, if not all, of its previous character as well as local businesses. Instead of a local greengrocers, we then had the "choice" of out of season asparagus, green beans and so on from as far afield as Kenya and Peru. > I feel it would help the area having an anchor > type food store BUT can see it making Lordship > Lane busier and increasing parking pressures. In what way do you feel it would help the area? I know its not your term but 'aspirational supermarket' made me cringe.
  3. All good stuff especially the note to the tooth fairy and the injured tone of rightful impatience :)
  4. Bonne annee ladymuck, hope you are both having a fabulous holiday in beautiful NZ. Watch out for those geysers...xx

I haven't heard of all of them either. I think sarah millican used to be funnier in the early days, maybe going the same way as jo brand now... Gina Yashere and Shappi Khorsandi who have been regulars on mock the week always make me laugh. Similarly didn't realise use of the word comedienne was intended to be patronising any more than use of the word actress.
  6. Whether hot or cold, in sandwiches, salads or sauteed and grilled with cheese, the humble sprout cannot fail to please. *Parp*
  7. Liked the vertical vegetable garden link, amazing what some people can achieve with limited space :) from someone who once managed to kill a notoriously difficult to kill cactus, Egbert (may he rest in peace). *wipes tear*
  8. Nor me but if I was doing hard manual work for generally poor pay and working lots of weekends and double shifts to help clear a backlog, I think it would be a reasonable gesture to make.

  11. Just William is coming back - yay.
  12. For Christmas pudding haters (like me), the best alternative is chocolate log.
  13. Definitely regular manicures as womanofdulwich has said. Folic acid supplements can help strengthen nails too.

  15. Exactly the point I was trying to make earlier Sue... Edited to add: I mean about the bit that your responses were to the persistent questions from others.
  16. I don't recall any posts from someone called incognito.

  18. Huguenot, no, I didn't realise Jamie did them that way but I must admit he is one 'celeb' chef I have warmed to in recent years. I watched his show last night and was impressed with the dishes he cooked, even taught his 90 year old gran (he calls her tiger?!) how to do ham and eggs. DJKQ - LOL re the consequences, lets leave that one there. This is an Appreciation Society after all :))

DJKQ - Are you referring to yourself here or the McCanns?
  20. I'm in - as long as there's herb butter and chestnuts (tu)

Bellenden Belle - to be fair, I'd say Sue doesn't appear to be the only person on here who is putting 'so much time and energy into this thread' which has now run to 4 pages! I'm sure there's a myriad of reasons why people are motivated to post what they do on the EDF (and the subject matter of this thread is not something I personally want to discuss on here). If anyone feels this thread is inappropriate then they could report it?
  22. good views of the lunar eclipse in Iceland today
  23. Is this snot the right thread?
