Oooh you rotter mentioning scic (non-tm, as I'm currently tm- free) when I'm nowhere nearby. Enjoy..... Btw, select the 'highlighter tool' and apply it to the top secret text below: *whispers back, see secrets safe with me* :)

I have a forum-wallah. Honestly, does anyone really believe I type this stuff myself? And no Ted, this heat will never cease. Frightfully uncomfortable it is too.

]*member of lay audience looks confused* Erm...shd I have put a smile thing at the end of my cars, mechanics. Is any of this thread relative, ha ha? that's in italics btw ;) Anyway...did you hear the one about two electrons sitting on a park bench? No? Good, I'll leave it there then... *goes back to reading 'bluffers guide to super-string theory'* And at the same time.. *still laughing in another dimension* And.. *concentrating on work*

Anyone know anything about getting funding for a phd?

RosieH - send him this link to the most companies using social media? Might be worth a try. Despite what I said earlier, I think funding from UK Research Councils will have to be via his uni. Sorry don't know any batty people out there with Trust Funds etc I wish -
I don't remember this song from the 1980s but its cool! (I wasn't) :D

...having a videoconference with an overseas team and assuming that because you cannot see or hear them, that they too have this problem. Only to discover that whilst they couldn't see you, they could hear. Perfectly. Clearly.

...picking up a cup of coffee* and finding out - TO YOUR HORROR - that its tea. splgllllllllllllughh is all I can say. It can be traumatic as your senses are completely unprepared for it. Come to think of it, this could easily meet the criteria for the irrational rage thread. Especially if some wanker has added sugar and loads of milk. *you have to really detest tea for this to work. Or if you detest coffee/hot chocolate delete as appropriate etc

KatsuQueen, there's nothing worse* than being kept awake by other people's music. I figure that if they are inconsiderate enough to play it so loudly and at unreasonable times then having a polite word with them is (sadly) unlikely to work. Hopefully if this was a wedding celebration, it will be a one-off? *well there is but you know what I mean...hopefully.

Some people use estate agencies for rental management services as well as for finding tenants. Particularly useful if you're not living in the same area as the property you are renting out. Costs more but I imagine can provide peace of mind if you have a good, trustworthy agent. When the high street is full of charity shops, thats a sure sign of recession (I think as they aren't eligible for full rental costs?) Bring on the shoe shops I say.

Oh-kay. In my non-professional opinion, I think this incident could see BP go bust. I mean, imagine trying to control a fire hose at full pressure by remote control robots, several miles underwater. That is what they are effectively trying to do here.

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > We have at least 4 ! See you there. Nice pub. Very busy it was tonight....especially outside! Sorry people, I got there late and asked the lovely bar staff if there was anyone there called 'Mick'...so she asked what you looked like. I was like dunno...she probably thought I was a bit mad not knowing who I was meeting - lol, how embarrassing! But totally my fault for not PMing to confirm...I didn't know if I'd get back from Edinburgh in time. Hope all (four of you) had a f-a-b night! Next time for sure :)-D

OMG what time is it?* I hope that woof is just on hols (I mean dogs do this, right?) :-S *Note lack of trademarks. I am trying to be tm-free ;-)

Anyone know anything about getting funding for a phd?
katie1997 replied to RosieH's topic in The Lounge
RosieH - if your friend's PhD is in a subject that is of benefit to a particular industry then I'd suggest that he seeks commercial sponsorship in the first instance. Otherwise, how about approaching the universities that have 5* ratings in that field, perhaps funding opportunities could be explored that way? The Russell Group is a grouping of the top research rated universites so might be worth a look too. Or he could contact the relevant UK Research Council for his particular research interest. I know how frustrating it is trying to find funding. Best of luck. -
me - 17 years old, standing in front of bathroom mirror at my mum's house, plastering on a ridiculous amount of make-up. Foundation first. brother - 5 yrs old, watching intently...then he innocently asks why I am putting on 'new skin'. A *little* bit older now and I am thinking 'if only it were that easy' ;) PS. I persuaded him that my lip gloss was just colourless lip balm. You gotta get your own back, right? I remind him of it regularly.

It definitely held resonance with me. Thanks for posting it.

Mick Mac I think you're right. Evenly matched. Yes. Whereas Haase and Rafa are not ;)

I find that Poirot and Captain Hastings are altogether more agreeable characters to watch. And hats off to Miss Lemon and those glorious 1930s pastiche sets. Miss Marple wins if you enjoy pretty, quintessentially English village settings although why the residents of St. Mary Mead haven't seemed disgruntled about decreasing house values what with it being a 'murder' hotspot and all, I cannot say.

Really happy with the service from BT (so far) ... and I'm near North Cross Road. In fact, haven't had any problems with it although maybe now I've said that...:-S Hope you manage to resolve the issues you're having.

Raise you the lady who treats us to the very loud blare of crap tuuuuuuunes for at least 10 minutes once she has worked out how to park and turn the engine off. Doesn't matter how early or late this is (for added bonus points).
