Benjaminty - sorry to hear of this horrible problem with your employees and I hope you manage to sort it out. I fully agree with what leaglebeagle says above as the first step...does your company have a contract with an employment law firm as they should be able to offer you some good advice on how to deal with this situation? very best of luck and I hope its resolved soon.

Are 'they' really getting rid of curly wurlys....shock horror. What's the world coming to..? Its bad enough that Freddos went up from a reasonable 10p to an absolutely, extortionate.....15p!! As long as chocolate buttons are 'safe'...;-)

Is it bad form to resurrect this thread because its FRIDAY night - yay :)-D

The monin syrups I brought from India so not much help lol....but Waitrose stock these things I believe. Not sure where locally though.. On the sourdough note...tried making it 3 times before I moved house but kept on forgetting to 'feed' the starter mix.. PS. Vacuum-packed chestnuts PPS. Matzo-meal (fine and the other type)

I might go take a 'special' look at it tomorrow though..... However, thanks go to JBARBER (tu)for bringing the subject to this very useful local forum to instigate discussion and seek our views. Lets all meet in the Palmerston for the consultation :)-D Opnions on public art are so subjective so whatever happens won't please everyone - though thats what makes the world such an interesting place. -
maybe its me but I feel that police presence only creates 'tension' for those who have something to hide...no? they never bother me, i'm very glad we have the police, they do a difficult job as anyone dealing with the public will tell you. if this prevents crime then good that we have paid our taxes on something useful for once. maybe we have got so used to not seeing many policy around 'on the beat' that this is scaring us a wee bit too much than it should? the people who go running off about infringement of their 'rights' and so on would be the first to complain if they were a victim.

Sorry to be negative but I have to almost fully concur with this too. The trouble with some of the liberal policies are that they sound great in an idealistic world but this sadly reminds me why I don't vote for them. I am sure they DO a lot of good work but this just illustrates nonsense and a waste of money. You will never ever please everyone with any public art installation so good luck with the public consultation. I also agree with Sue - i walk past there everyday and have never seen graffiti so wonder how much this would 'save'. the planting idea is a lovely one with clear benefits IMO. -
Shaila - its a great idea and I hope it works out, keep us posted! best of luck xx I am sure computedshorty would make an absolutely amazingly entertaining host too :))

yeah its a tough one mr ben and I sypathise with your dilemma.....not sure what the best way to politely decline is...perhaps you could elaborate on the huge amount of commitments and very little spare time you have these days and put them off asking you. i think the modern role of godfather/mother seems to be buying them really extra-special pressies on significant birthdays...and being there for them if you had to. best of luck!

didn't know where this thread was heading but someone beat me to the wicked witch is dead. I can fully wholeheartedly endorse SSS (Skin So Soft) as giggirl said, the BEST midge-repellent ever. I heard it was used by the military too but no idea whether thats true...Its sold extensively in the Scottish Highlands, don't buy any others..SSS is all you need.

btw seriously hadn't read the previous post...no I am not the man with the funny hat who gets on the 40 lol.. and yes, croutons sound stupid, like cretins...makes me very angry for no reason at all :)

Saudi, India, and yes it definitely has a different feel in the UK/West....we take soooo much for granted I think (not intentionally I just feel differently by my overseas experiences and appreciate more the fact we can peacefully protest, say what we think, dress how we like, do what we want) :) *gives floor back to reggie again*

jack bauer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is It cool or uncool,a thing of the past for > refined gentleman or truly a village people prop. depends what country you live in.....go to India where the moustache is very popular (not sure if its considered to be cool though) and most frequently sported by the male species. over here I personally I think they are considered awful or comical, totally village people....

Hahahaha - you are SO funny!:)) I think I know who you are. I have to say this...you're good but you don't spell like an older person..... And no, I haven't gotten around to buying the bike yet...due to horrible flu. However...I have decided that I would LOVE to own a BeOne (but can't test ride them as they are via internet order only). Reckon the mission one would be a prime target for thieves. Maybe I will get a penny farthing too if you recommend them ;-)

thank you everyone for your thoughts, lots of great advice here and some amazing stories and experiences (esp GSJ57 -wow, what a wonderful story)! for me its kinda like...met someone at an expat event 6 wks before I was due to leave the country so never really got to know each other. But had this feeling that I never wanted to lose touch so its been phone calls/text/emails. Difficult to get to know someone via email though! He is now back in Europe but sadly as he is not from the UK is still based in a different country!! Just wanted to hear experiences and views of others xxxxx btw sorry if my username is misleading (my d.o.b. is most definitely not 1997!!! I am much much much older than that!):) p.s. woof your post was v.funny, hope you are wrong though...

What's happening to Crystal Palace Road?!
katie1997 replied to rosieglow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
rosieglow - so sorry to hear about the burglaries and damage to the bike. I bumped into that same gang on Uplands Rd/Hindmans Rd junction on my way home on Fri eve - they were shouting and mucking about by the cars and bins. Police car sat outside that area for ages the following day. Not sure what damage they actually did. They all looked like teenagers to me. Was quite scary walking past them although I was on the pavement and they were in the middle of the road...I hope Crystal Palace Road doesn't go bad and this is a one off incident. xx -
Computedshorty is NOT an old man who has lived in East Dulwich since 1927 or thereabouts...

Shappi Khorsandi - and yes I found that line hilarious too. She is totally brilliant, clever and funny. I think criminalising the membership is wrong, its just giving them a false sense of importance and credence....having lived overseas, I really do value the freedom of speech in the UK!
