My worst one was a summer job, as a teenager, in a small hotel in the middle of nowhere (no exaggeration) and the hotel bar was frequented by a handful of locals (usually old men). I hated it when anyone ordered a drink that wasn't a 'normal' drink. For example, one of these regulars drank dark rum and ..milk (?!) So I would leave the tiny bar area and go to the kitchen to get the milk...and bring back this horrible, gunky looking drink. Only to be told I hadn't mixed it correctly...*rolls eyes* And this went on all summer....I try to order fairly usual drinks in bars now :)

Similarly, I would never continue to have a conversation on my mobile whilst someone was serving me (and I see that happen a lot....) otherwise I wouldn't blame them if they threw the change back at me and didn't say thanks LOL.

when the person serving me in a shop continues to have a conversation on their mobile phone throughout the transaction and doesn't bother to say thank you either! I always say thanks when they give me the change! grrr...

:-S.....or are they doomed from the start?

yes please, please tell us if Dulwich has been filmed for CDWM....I would love to see that episode if so Wonder what the criteria is to get through? It must depend on the 'mix' of people they already have I guess??

Low carbon?? I think its good that a large energy company is pondering the future of our energy and where we get it from. I know companies are in business to make a profit (otherwise why bother) but they need to listen to government, researchers, the public.....others in their industry and come up with innovative ideas and technologies. Cannot happen on its own.

womanofdulwich - makes me wonder why these people wanted a puppy in the first place. Its so sad to hear about it continually barking (not very nice for it or surrounding people) when it is either indoors or outdoors. I can see you have been given some local advice above so hopefully that helps, I don't know anyone in this area that I could recommend to help other than the Dogs Trust charity. Seems like these people aren't giving the puppy proper exercise or much attention. I hope that things improve and I am glad that there are others out there who are concerned for animal welfare. xxx

..the Bushmills distillery is definitely worth a visit, its in a beautiful part of the world near to Giant's Causeway. I also highly recommend a tour round the Glen Morangie one - and Talisker on Skye. Wish I liked whisky though...I think it tastes nicer in the country of origin. Brother loves Bruichladdich, colleague calls Macallan 'cooking' whisky....seems like its very much down to personal taste.

I think I have been gullible where computedshorty is concerned...all those lovely old diary memories from London in the 30's.....do you get this from history books or research? Entertaining posts but...I think you have been busted too! ;-)

katie1997 replied to katie1997's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oops didn't see that one or realise it was the same area if I did so guess I shouldn't have started the new thread!!:-$ Thanks so much for your help buggie - that one explains it!! -
..okay is it just lately with the bad weather or do regular users of this bus know if it normally takes about half an hour for it to move from outside the Barry Road off-licence to the Peckham Rye green/park around the corner in the mornings? Thanks.

Sorry I am not entirely sure of the Forum's etiquette yet so posting to this a bit late. I think Modelmans post is really well said. I often go to that branch of Sainsbury's at the weekend and would hate to have experienced what staff and customers did on that day. In the past I have been grateful of the extra cash that an evening job at Sainsbury's provided despite having a science degree - work is work isn't it? And manners are everything. Yes the work was mind-numbing and the training for emergencies inadequate but thats no excuse to have a go at the staff. I don't think people should be judged on their earnings (see Jonathan Ross thread also!) We should be looking at society and sorting out the cause of the violence. -
Prenups are definitely bad - I cannot seee how the 'marriage' would last if the couple feel the need to agree these in advance. But each to their own I guess.....maybe it works for some.

yup lights have been flickering near northcross road too - has happened a few times lately, no powercuts.. yet ::o

Music around Underhill Road on Sunday night
katie1997 replied to hammjg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
...from 1pm till 11pm!!! It's bad enough when people play music on loudspeaker on public transport for a 30 mins journey....growlybear and tikki have my sympathy. There must be other ways to raise awareness and money for a good cause than this. -
So irritating..one has been going off intermittently all day and now all evening and probably will do all night... I'm wishing someone would steal the damn thing now... grrrr...(6)

Writing Diaries every day. Who does it? What should we do with them!
katie1997 replied to PeckhamRose's topic in The Lounge
PeckhamRose thats wonderful you have kept a diary, so lovely to hear that some people still do. I used to use them but sadly gave up about 15 years ago..don't know why. I now wish I had kept those earlier diaries. If kept long enough...diaries are a great historical record...even if you think what you have written is insignificant, it will be fascinating to people who cannot imagine the times you were writing in. Keep hold of these treasures, they are very precious indeed. -
