  2. Wishing Well sounds good. I'm up for it.

  4. Oi. Keep my mum out of it!!
  5. Don't be disheartened Georgia, you've done a fantastic job which has really helped add another dimension to the EDF. You're much appreciated by all of us who've gone along for that "just one drink".
  6. Sue didn't you see the map? You can't miss it. It has two red lines crossing a red circle with a big red arrow indicating Sue's house!
  7. Bit of a non answer except you're advised not to move to Newham. Interesting that the response was delayed till after the debate in Parliament on the 3rd runway at Heathrow.
  8. Duplicated below
  9. A radical proposal perhaps. EDDC is a sizeable group with alcohol purchasing power much valued in these CC times. How about the pubs and bars in ED and on the periphery propose how well they'd accommodate us and then we select (via the EDEWPSIG of course) the lucky 12.
  10. Are cycle riding parents escorting their small children on their little bikes on the way to school during the manic rush hour exempted?
  11. Jeremy it's on the corner of Wanley Rd and the cycle path behind DHFC.
  12. The Drum might still be open by then. BYOB, BYOD, music and dancing exclusively till 4 am.
  13. I agree incidents like this are shocking. Hearing the details (once is enough) moves you to tears and anger at the perpetrators but don't see this as a reflection of society going down the toilet. These poor people aren't mentally balanced, probably come from abusive backgrounds and have a very low IQ. That's not to say its OK but simply to point out they're not like you or me. A very tiny minority and I don't think it's a growing one. Just tragic.
  14. Depends on how big the Grand Piano and Cocktail bar is. Six perhaps, plus 36 crew.
  15. Thought there might be a Serge of interest
  16. I think a housing price recovery is at least 2 to 3 years off. The job market is going to see a lot more unemployed, the China effect is about to hit and prices are still way off what most first time buyers can afford. However, when the recovery does come there's going to be a sharp price increase as investors with cash rush to buy.
  17. Air pollution in London is far better than it was last century but that's not to say there isn't room for improvement. Like it or not air travel is here to stay and despite a recent lull in capacity it will continue to grow. It's one of the things that makes London an international city. I tend to favour Boris' suggestion of a new airport in the Thames Estuary but I don't think that's not going to come at a big price. Many people will be staying awake at night worrying about the new transport links to make it viable, the upheaval that it causes, environmental damage, job losses at Heathrow and so on. There isn't an easy solution except that quieter and less polluting aircraft will make the pill easier to swallow.
  18. If it was at K & W I'd be there like a rocket
  19. That would make me her toy boy.
  20. In the name of equality and all that . . . starting with a plain old Jane

    a joke

That should read "Button involved in horrible F1 accident."
  22. What would you have the government do? It seems to me that any viable alternatives will only come with future improvements in technology related to energy and transportation.
  23. Shouldn't this thread be in The (starting a) Family Room?
