Surely if you're a gay chav that makes you a gay gay chav but then the two gays would cancel each other out leaving you just a chav.

Has the housing market in ED reached its bottom yet?
lozzyloz replied to ClareC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There are already signs that the Chinese economy is slowing down (not quite recession) and also evidence of a slow down in the property market with some provinces seeing property prices falling by 20%. Western banks have been using the "underground market" on a large scale to stoke up lending for types of credit and/or institutions that fall outside the traditional structures of financial supervision. Whilst it might not be devastating for the Chinese economy it will be another sting in the tail for Western Banks and our economy. -
The Blake mural has been painted over by the Council
lozzyloz replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd like to propose a revamped modern interpretation of Blakes vision by some local talented graffiti artists. Perhaps chosen through a competition by way of a spray-off held on Peckham Rye (or perhaps the Town Hall). -
"I woke up this morning feeling quite gay but after eating a large breakfast I soon felt rather queer." Did I wake up a homosexual and have my sexuality confirmed after breakfast or did I wake feeling euphoric only to come down later on? Or perhaps I awoke feeling a bit rubbish and then decided I was somewhat worthless.

Has the housing market in ED reached its bottom yet?
lozzyloz replied to ClareC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's been take of a lot of lending in China through what is called the 'Underground Market', basically unregulated lending, and with an expected hiccup in the economy due, you can expect to see the equivalent of sub prime lending there caving in and banks running for cover . . . again. -

So what next? I think the next big wave of bad news could be as a result of banks exposure to bad debt in China which will hit the likes of HSBC. -

The Blake mural has been painted over by the Council
lozzyloz replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
To quote Jon Sheaff's memo above, "I am relieved that the current arrangement is "temporary"" Surely it would've been far more cost effective to restore the mural rather than paint over it first then restore with the added time wasted in an e-mail witch hunt and reams of paper flying around. Will this become another 'Walnut Whip' on the council tax for ED residents? -
I'm hardly an expert but I'd hazard a guess that the human race has been riddled with social ceremonies ever since we were able to think in abstract form. Probably largely based on superstition to begin with and a need to keep tribes cohesive but as the populace and travel/integration has increased so have other ideas like religion influenced these functions together with a global tendency to standardisation. I predict that in 25 years you'll be able to buy a DIY ceremony kit from the local newsagent. I like many of the principles of Humanism. But also many of the principles enshrined in most other (sensible/rational) religions and movements but I'm not sure I want to be a full time member of any of them. I was a member of The Woodcraft Folk in my youth, though but I can't remember any god or queen stuff.

Local Estate Agent what type of properties are selling best at the moment? Which categories are worst and least affected in your opinion? -
I wonder what Michael O'Leary and Stelios will be thinking about this? Perhaps an upgrade on the in-flight meal to remain competitive. I want one now.

James let's not get into who started it first except that I will say that your use of the word chavvy sparked me off and I didn't actually call the decor gay but merely inferred that some people might. I still don't understand how you can on the one hand use a word without conscience that denigrates a section of society who find themselves (often through no fault of their own) in less fortunate circumstances and within a certain sub culture, yet the use of the word gay in a slightly negative sense but dislocated to any homosexual references in that sentence, is somehow damning of the entire gay community. You are not alone in the gay community with this opinion but at the same time it is not a belief shared by all gay people. Personally, I don't have any major issues with the word chav or gay. As already mentioned above and on many previous occasions it is indeed all about context. If you stick your head in my face and call me a c*nt I'll get offended. If you put your arm around my shoulder and with a smirk call me a c*nt I'll just make sure you get the next round in. IMO I think you're being a little over sensitive about the use of the word gay to mean naff (shit is a bit strong). I remember as a youngster when the word gay was coming into common use to mean homosexual, many of the older generation were kickin up that a word essentially meaning happy (Salad Days?) had been hijacked. But hey ho, that's how language evolves and in 20 years time the word gay may have morphed yet again. Finally and once again for the record, in case you think the whole world is against you I'd like to reassure you that it's not. I don't think any forumites have any personal issues with you. Your argument is fairly eloquent even if a lot (not all) of us disagree with you. I'm definitely not homophobic, I've been occasionally propositioned in clubs and bars and never felt threatened or offended (in fact was in a gay bar off Old Comp St last week) and even had my dress sense called gay by my teen son and of course there's that old cliche about some of my friends. Hope this makes sense even if you disagree.

Great road and perfect if you have a family. Close to Dulwich Park. Library, Plough Pub and ED at one end and The Dog Pub and the Village at the other end. Catchment for Dulwich Hamlets Infants, Dulwich Village Junior and Charter Secondary plus all the private schools. House prices for an Edwardian 5 bed have dipped to under ?1m in a few cases.

Thanks Nero, but I think you're missing the point. Gay is not OK to use in a negative context but Chav is? Back on thread, would welcome your thoughts on the interior decor. -

LOL. Perhaps we could employ some out of work bankers to repaint the wall on the street. -

James, how you interpret Gay is your prerogative. Here's the dictionary definition: 1. having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music. 2. bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments. 3. given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season. 4. licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies. 6. of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization. 7. a homosexual person, esp. a male. 8. in a gay manner. Is the Magnolia decor 1, 2 or 8 as opposed to being only suitable for lower class, uneducated ignorant people? -

Would be interested in your opinion on the interior when you do venture inside. Some would consider it looks a bit gay. -

There are two types of cyclists that ignore red lights. The irresponsible ones that fly through without pausing and with no concern for theirs or others safety and The responsible ones like me, who always stop first, extinguish the cigarette and terminate the phone call before proceeding safely without spilling my beer.
