  1. I say. I doo beleeve it's because of England pulling it out of the bag against the Wallabies. Historically a strong show in the rugby has always boosted Tory performance. Stands to reason dunnit.
  2. Unfortunately I'm away and really wanted to go as I missed the last drinks and it looked like fun. Will try and make the next one (as long as its not first 2 weeks of Dec). Good choice of venue.
  3. Hmmm, so lets just summarise some of the points made above: 1. Its better to have cafes just serving fry ups rather than add a couple of Cafes in ED that provide more choice and source healthier ingredients. 2. Sequinned cushions and tealights are an anathema best left in Clapham or Islington. 3. The return of a real Butcher (and Fishmonger) to compete with Sainsburys and Somerfield is a giant step backwards. 4. A sharp increase in drug dealers to the growing middle classed has caused mass hallucinations where people see 9 sets of twins in 30 mins, or perhaps the same set cruising up and down the lane. 5. Basic staples like bread are only available in organic olive form at ?5 a touch. 6. Penny Chews are no longer available to the original ED residents that still cling on to pre decimal pennies (no doubt with Quenn Vic's face on). 7. The move of Walsh the Glazier a few hundred yards to Shawbury Rd has changed the face of ED forever. 8. IVF should only be given to woman as a kind of prize if they come through a serious illness like cancer and survive. 9. Selling your home in ED and capitalizing on the increased equity caused by the area being desirable and the marketing of ALL estate agents is OK as long as you declare your deep hate for Foxtons who've only JUST arrived in ED. I think I'll go and donate some sperm in Forest Hill. They might need it to compete with ED!
  4. Bell, Len & Den
  5. Never drunk in this pub and an incident that occured with Mrs Lozzyloz a couple of years ago has ensured that I never will whilst the current management remains. She was 8mths pregnant and bursting for a piss. Politely asked if she could use the loo and was refused! I've owned a bar before and I know that it can be a pain when people stroll in to use the place as a public lav, but a heavily pregnant woman? If that's their attitude then it's not my kind of place.
  6. You make a very good point Loz. Once you've registered with the various agents it's worth having a regular trawl through the propertyweb with your specific criteria and then follow up with a call to the relevant agent for a viewing. Stock will always vary between agents and after a while the agents will get to know you better and hopefully call you first when a property comes up but is not yet marketed.
  7. Perhaps the word good should be substituted with the word clear. I am a counsellor...and I am concerned that we have an image which is less than admirable.......I am trying to find out how to change that. Would've been a better/clearer starting post. I thought Gerry was someone looking for counselling and wondering what other peoples experiences were. Besides, I thought councellors just listened.
  8. Well you haven't made a very good start . . .
  9. No, there was more than one. Now shoe!
  10. Look, I took the liberty of examining that parrot when I got it home, and I discovered the only reason that it had been sitting on its perch in the first place was that it had been NAILED there.
  11. coop my experience with DVR was great. Ask for Mel or Claire. Also Paloma at KFH (village office) is very good.
  12. ED Whorehouse?
  13. Was he spotted in Goodrich Rd?
  14. I thought all midwives cycled?
  15. In my job I have to carry a lot of gear around in and around London. Hiring transport, presumably not petrol driven but perhaps a small caravan of Rickshaws just wouldn't be practical or keep me competitive. I could of course change profession, take up a position locally (receptionist at Willis B?) and walk to work each day.
  16. Gerry I once used RELATE some 12 years ago. I was quite cynical at first and although it didn't save a doomed marriage (thankfully) it did provide some benefits that I didn't see at first or expect. I'm not quite sure what you're question is but I think you're asking if our Culture is too "stiff upper lip" to use counselling? Possibly. But it's also down to awareness and availability of counselling services.
  17. I have two cars and unfortunately I need them. Kids, work etc. I do try and minimise their use and they aren't gas guzzlers but it's a bit rich to say if you live in London you don't need a car.
  18. Any descriptions?
  19. I had no idea that when Polly and Peter escaped their cage in 1991 from our flat in Richmond that it would come to this. Should've had them neutered.
  20. Looks like I missed all the action. Stumpy hope you feel better after that vent. Are you the Porsche owner, friend of Porsche owner or friend of jonsuissy?
  21. Monica you're a local celebrity and regular customer so you'd probably receive a different greeting to somebody fresh off the street, possibly a little nervous and intimidated (not to mention bad hair). Receptionists are the first point of contact so if their attitude is inconsistent then it's not surprising people can get the wrong impression. The nice thing about the EDF is then at least there's an opportunity to post other views and perhaps set the record straight.
  22. Surely more effective without the mask?
  23. On Court Lane last June several cars (mostly 4x4's) had the windows smashed and then some again on Croxted Rd. Even a bus was attacked. Have no idea if it was linked or if the perpetrators were ever caught. Saw Stumpys posts this am so: For the record I'm totally against vandalism of any sort regardless of the type of property or character of the owner, with the exception of property belonging to vandals.
  24. Similarly Rolls Royce (Spitfire) and ironically now German owned and Vauxhall were tank builders also bought by the Germans and now US owned.
