  1. I really feel for James Barber, always struck me as a good bloke and a visible presence in Dulwich. Hope he isn't part of the Lib Dem exodus.
  2. I just turned up last night and bought a ticket for the new avengers film. wish to god I hadn't, it was the biggest pile of tosh I've ever seen. utter drivel, not even funny and I love sci-fi.
  3. football club -6 %..? surely not the likes of dulwich hamlet though..?
  4. Agree with Phil, good work James Barber. Cheers.
  5. sylorikeet, where in Islington did you grow up? I'm originally from the Hornsey/Holloway area. I went back there a few weeks ago for the first time in years and didn't recognise it at all. I thought it had gone downhill unbelievably.
  6. i once had to deal with a boisterous chrysanthamum
  7. anyway... was daniel day-lewis really here? where exactly?
  8. I thought miliband sounded particularly nasal, even for him. he must sound like a trombone when he has a cold.
  9. This thread is almost six years old to the minute!
  10. So no one got Southwark then!! Edcam, Lewes is a great place, they have notoriously wild parties around Guy Fawkes night every year mixing booze and fiery dancing! Naff all the rest of the year mind...
  11. Anyone had a go at this test reported on the BBC website? Results of few question based on your personality then compared to results of a nationwide study, give you the best and worst places to live. Obviously to be taken with a large pinch of salt, but apparently I'd be happiest in South Norfolk! I'll stick with East Dulwich. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31816926
  12. a mate of mine, at the behest of his wife, bought a Persian kitten... for ?600
  13. haven't come across this chap myself, although do know the bloke sitting by the bike lockers by the train station. he always seems quite polite, never seen him kick off. some beggars are undoubtedly rogues and give the others a bad name, but a lot of the others are genuinely in a bad way and despite hostels, the big issue and various cash strapped charities, could do with some human contact. Buy the big issue magazine if you never have, I think it's a good way to tackle homelessness and poverty and also a exceptionally great read. I'd prefer not to give money to beggars but occasionally do. a grey area...
  14. there was a spate of bike thefts from King's College hosp a while back and it's always happening at a low level anyway. This is bad enough but the bike rack is right outside the security office...
  15. Denmark Hill to King's Cross (20 mins), walk up to Euston (10 mins), train to Hemel (not sure how long but hardly a million miles away) is what I would do. Traffic is likely to be murder. Bletchley Park is also on the same line as HH, well worth a visit... Good luck and let us all know how you got on.
  16. Mona Lisa smile. Partly shot in East Dulwich
  17. i walked past there on friday and it still looked like a building site. three weeks seems unlikely.
  18. there was a thread about this junction a while back and though it was roundly agreed that a crossing is necessary,it was noted that in doing so the traffic on east dulwich grove would be horrific.
  19. this junction is a disaster. there will be many more collisions and deaths, if something is not done fast.
  20. the actress has a huge screen and shows all the sport. i'll watch it there, despite the spectacularly slow service from the staff...

    Weller

his debut solo album 'paul weller' is superb. one of my favourites. bjork's solo album 'debut' also one of the best solo efforts i've heard.
  22. I saw the same thing this morning outside King's College hospital. Just before 9am. Maybe it was James Barber??
  23. Elephant & castle, especially the underpasses. Although this isn't really an irrational tenseness as the absence of working cctv and poor lighting create a very real risk of mugging. I shudder thinking back to when I staggered pissed through there when I commuted to North London...
  24. 16-stone Adebayo Akinfenwa of AFC Wimbledon and similarly Luton Town's Steve McNulty, make me think I too can be an athlete. The 20 fags a day then make me think otherwise... Actually if I'm not boozing then I'm not smoking, and if I'm doing neither of those then I'm exercising and living like a vegan in the wilderness chanting 'ohmm'. I wish I could strike a balance between healthy and unhealthy living. That is the key to happiness... Edited in response to someone else's mention of midweek squash. This often gets mentioned in other threads, I'd be up for squash. cracking game.
  25. Labour/Lib Dem coaltion Charles becomes King (King Phillip incidentally, has previously stated will change name, fact) Southampton clinch fourth (Arsenal third...) Iceland retains presence on LL ED house prices up by 15% England win six nations
