  4. Went again this year and enjoyed it. I do think the recession is biting the circus - not as good or as many varied acts as years' past. For sheer clap-and-cheer-out-loud enjoyment, though, it's hard to beat. I thought my 15 year old would be too cool for Zippo's, but no, she loved it still.

  12. Easier said than done, Jamma. My daughter was at school in Bermondsey. We moved to right opposite St John's, and I couldn't get her in, so for three years had to toot her over there and back everyday. [Have to say, when we couldn't afford the bus fare (pre Ken's free children largesse), we walked - which means I have little sympathy for those moaning how they've been allocated a school two miles away!)

  16. S'not babyboomers' fault at all - Mockney Piers has admitted liability: "In the end they all look rather weak and whining, at least that's what I'll feel as I look my grandchild in the eye and apologise that my generation @#$%& it all up for them and did nothing about it in the full knowledge of the consequences of our (in)actions."
  17. The season ended with The Ashes. Now it's time for football. Anything played in the last few weeks doesn't count.
  18. I like a man of principles, BBW. I raise my flute to you.

  21. I read it backwards from the most recent post towards end. It amused me.
  22. I found this on the back of Hospital Bingo in the press recently. Traction Man It's v. funny, but don't read it if you've just come off a 60 hour week NHS shift.
  23. Reckon you're making that one up. Never heard of it!
