  1. My idea for that space Louisa, is to turn it into a restaurant with guest chefs from ED each night. Then you are guaranteed to fill it with friends and family.
  2. To be fair to the Pope, he is right. Sexual abstinence is the best answer. Condoms will occasionally fail.
  3. I want to know what the bogs on the north side of Peckham Rye are going to be turned into.
  4. That's rot, I regularly find fox poo on my dustbins and back door step.
  5. A week? How profligate of you Michael.
  6. Sue Would like to go. Haven't been since the museum first opened - I'm sure they didn't charge then!
  7. The are was honking the other day of fox poo. Foxes live in the churchyard and it generally smells worse after a short, sharp shower of rain.
  8. Right Sir, I'll give it another go.
  9. There is a Beth Chatto retrospective at the Garden Museum, Lambeth Palace Rd until 19 April if anyone is interested. gardenmuseum.org.uk
  10. Keef man, you've got it all wrong. I've seen GG in concert and he is one amazing showman. [before his disgrace, of course]
  11. That was fun. Cheers.
  12. Also war graves at Camberwell Old Cemetery up Forest Hill Rd.
  13. I have a car and have no qualms about it. Mine was out of commission for six months and I hated it. With aged Ps who have both been in hospital in the last 12 months it brings great peace of mind that I can get to where they live relatively quickly. Having said that, I generally only use it for a big shop up here.
  14. Unworthy Anna. I rather think like the rest of use, H is in awe of your imminent status acquired after years of slog.
  15. Go on then ruffers, enlighten us.
  16. Malheuresement, Nunhead aussi: The Frog on the Green.
  17. Well my afternoon was jollied by seeing a red-caped crusader riding a chopper through Peckham Rye.
  18. Brendan, here's a link for you that might be interesting http://www.southafricawargraves.org/lists/unitedkingdom.htm Q Why do some memorials have the dates 1914 ? 1919 or 1921 inscribed upon them? A On November 11th 1918 the Armistice was signed and for many this signalled the end of four long years of conflict. However, the armistice only marked a temporary cessation of hostilities and people in many communities feared that fighting might break out again. Their minds were finally set to rest with the signing of the Peace Treaty of Versailles on 28th June 1919. They could now consider the war officially over and it is for this reason that they placed the date 1919 on the memorials. The date 1921 appears less often but it marked the official end of the war for the United States. Consequently, some communities chose to use this date as the end date on their war memorial. [lost the source website, sorry]
  19. Chalk is harmless and is porous. Some of the finest counties in the land are built on it!
  20. Not just the Mrs Banks types, DC - not so very long ago, you wouldn't have been able to vote as you are not a property owner! I accept that it's probably not enforcable, maybe we just need to teach history better.
  21. Do you not think DC that rather than introduce proportional representation there should be compulsory voting? Universal suffrage took quite a time to achieve and it grieves me that some people are so wishywashy about elections.
  22. Maybe we should rename TLS Kim?
  23. I noticed it but wasn't public spirited enough to report it. I did wonder if the water works building site on Homestall Rd had anything to do with it.
  24. Oh baby, it's a wild world?
