  1. I know - there were so many and I had to cut it to 10. Quadraphenia lost out too. And the Italian Job opens in London. And ... and ....
  2. Top 10 London Films Passport to Pimlico The Long Good Friday Midnight Lace Mary Poppins Withnail & I Truly Madly Deeply Fever Pitch The Lavender Hill Mob Notting Hill Up the Junction
  3. My 80s contribution - on the whole I loathed the period. Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet (live version)
  4. Remind me next week and I'll go and join at Waverley. I played last night with the lovely Caro - there was still a court free. Half the room was being used for a ping pong tournament.
  5. I saw Cyclops - agree it was very good.
  6. East Dulwich Grove where parking on the pavement is allowed on some stretches. It means one can't get a pushchair or wheelchair down there.
  7. I always wondered what they did with niblets and mashies.
  8. There was/is a sasparilla stall down The Lane (East Street).
  9. If there was a dog involved Keef, it was probably Five go to Kirrin Island.
  10. I once saw Peggy Mount play Madame Arcarti (Richmond or Wimbledon or something like that). She was absolutely brilliant - very funny (whispers - better than Margaret Rutherford).
  11. Well done WQ and MP. It's a hard slog to study as an adult with all one's other commitments. CO - congratulations.
  12. I remember going to see Shadowlands with Nigel Hawthorne and Jane Lapotaire. I just sat in my seat and wept at the end of it. Highly embarrassing.
  13. The champion of lists: or maybe this edited cos of pesky computer
  14. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher
  15. I think we should lobby the Olympics Committee for beach cricket. As pertinent as beach volleyball me thinks.
  16. Me & Julio down by the schoolyard - Simon & Garfunkel
  17. I know what I'm about to say is flippant, but I can't help it. Don't you think that the cyclists' helmets look like a bunch of sperm racing for an egg?
  18. I think Brendan, that the cheese and jam combination is actually quite a common thing in London of yore (at least according to my mum!).
  19. Hi Admin Hi Admin I understand why you've banned ND but I do think she had a valid point. Shu's comment about 'dodgy looking staff' was as offensive as the original use of 'sushi' and yet ND was the only one to challenge him - albeit in a rather ill-advised way. Perhaps her post should be removed and she be given another chance? I have been offended by Shu in the past - some of his early posts were extremely anti-religious. However, it's generally not in my nature to bother responding. We all have to rub along and ignore some things that are offensive or stupid and just make a mental note not to bother with that poster again and mark them down as ignorant and/or hypocritcal. Shu seems to think that only his sensibilities count - in a community(forum), everyone's does. regards Janet
  20. Not sure that Mr Spitz didn't win with more charm and good humour. Something not quite attractive about Phelps.
